This is going to sound nuts. But in have lived here and owned property here for over 25 yrs and I do not know where brown bend is. I need to get my map out.

Wrench------ I know how guide are suppose to work. But still i lwouod like a few less than are on some Rods. You also cannot imagine how long it takes me to get a line through those ten guides
-
Jerry I know that the catfish and drum and a few others feed on them. But the way Jerry A few weeks ago I was in Wally World and they had several Cherrywood HD casting rods on the rack. I picked up a 7ft 'er and the feel of it really surprised me. I bought one and took it home and it has been nothing but a pleasure to use. I bought another one 6 1/2 ft yesterday. At $23 bucks a pop they are outstanding. They have fewer guides on than that some of the other rods. To me though I think I prefer that. Both the 61/2 and 7 ft rod have 7 guides. My Ugly stick 7 ft pro Lites have 10. I have never understood the need for that many.

Carp are a thrill to catch that is for sure. When my son was small I taught him how to fight fish in a park lake by catching large carp on a crappie outfit and 6 lb test line. It works. I have never seen him panic and freeze up. I have picture some where of him when he was was about 6 or yrs old with 2 carp he caught that were a out 1/2 as big as he was down in Clearwater lake. I can still see that. He set the hook on the first one and it about jerked him out of the boat. But he did not panic. A lot of those carp your seeing in the shallows are not carp they are buffalo. They can be a challenge to catch. I have seen some monster drum to the past few weeks also.

I clearly remember the first year they started a mass die off I was that real hot sumer a few years back. I had noticed this stuff floating by the dock that looked like pumpkin seeds. I was more curious where it was coming from than what it was at first. A day or so later I decided to scoop a couple up and look at them. that when I discovered they were Zebra muscle float dead upside down. They cannot stand heat and stagnation we get here in the summer sometimes. But the there is another kind that can. I think they are called something like guava mussels. WARFRAT------Have you seen any large snails up there where you are. I hope bot but they clain they have been reported up there. They are the mystery snails of the Aquarium trade

CHAMP------- I get more down on all this trash your referring to. I am sick and tired of seeing all the commercialization and and all the stuff of trying to shove stuff down your throat in adds etc, here there and everywhere else. Most of crap is made in China. I seen something the other day the writer said they were going to take the concept and send it to their engineers in China I will not buy that product anymore you can be sure of it. There are some fishermen on here. Then there are some fish on here. Most of the fisherman leave here wit limits of those type of fish.

there are still a few around here and there. I picked up a few live ones in about 30 ft of water last summer jigging a spoon. But they were real small and I think in a limited spot. I was told there might always be a few here and there. But the consensus is they are not happy in LOZ. At least not yet.

I have a friend who's wife felt like she had a cold in a matter of a day she became very. sick and went into a coma. They could bot find a thing that was causing it.They had video hook up in her room from the CDC and barnes Hospital in St Louis. She stayed that way for weeks. then improved very fast. No ody has ever pin pointed that it was caused by a tick. but they think it was. those little red ticks are the worst.

Yes I think we are on the way to some improvement. But there needs to be a lot done with septic still. West side is a lot more progressive in this respect than many other parts of the lake. Over on the other side Miller county flat out refuses to vote for sewers. You mist have state of the art treatment plants. I support the idea that has been put forward about a lake wide sewer district. Simply put any kind of affluent that gets into the ground stays in the ground and can travel miles through quaffers. That is how it is that is why there are ground water problems all over the country. We have several problems so does everyone else. These problems are not limited to LOZ. You people down on table rock have them also. Your lake is just to young to show them much. But from the post earlier this year about moss in the lower end I would say its coming. The lower end has been developed a lot longer. There is your problem not just lawn fertilizer runoff.

When the traffic is Heavy I am oit of luck this time of year. After post spawn all I so Lunker hunt. Most of my fishing them. will be over are down into water 30 ft deep. This year has been so wacky so far I do not know what to expect. Some folks are saying thet had bass on the beds at Easter. I have one right now hanging on a bed that has not been spawned yet in back of my dock. That bed is down around 6 foot or better.

A Lot of us are cancer survivors Dave. If it is really bad I just hope he does bot have to drag on and on. I have already made up my mind. If mine shows up somewhere else I am going to choose to check out. I am tired of all the surgery. In a few week or less my fishing season is going to end for the year. I am going to have a knee replacement Revision. In other words replace the replacement. this will be my 12 th surgery and that is enought for anyones lifetime.

FINS------ That is so awful true. If she learns to love the area first the fishing MIGHT come later. If it does not find something else that can bind you and you can can still fish. I have been on LOZ over 20 years. My wife has not fish more than 1 or 2 times. But we share through other things. Our large ornamental garden. And Some birdhouses we have made together over the years for people that stretch from California to Germany that I knows of. They are more art work than birdhouses. NO we do not sell them. We did years ago at crafts fairs under the named or Ozarkian Creations/ Bird town USA. But no more. The sharing of projects is whats important even if you fuss over the project at hand. I Know it can work. we will be married 50 yrs a week from friday. DANGER CLOSE------ For some reason I got the gut feeling he is bringing her down to either tell you they are getting married or else he is going to pop the question there. If he does I got only one thing to say. Hope he keeps his love of fishing in check if she is not big on fishing. There can be a lot of trouble when you spend a fortune on fishing tackle and boats etc. I am sure it is the base of many marriage breakups. 90% of this high priced stuff is nothing more than commercialization.

Yeah tell him to use conventional bass lures whatever they suggest on here. Dave I think your about to loose it. I think I seen somethinng you posted about prayer ended with the words "Ned Nation".
-
I never heard of anything like that before but I guess its happens. In my area of the Gravois they both would have been devoured by gar. They are just all over the place around here right now. They have bit off several of my jigs and worms in the past couple weeks. Its been kind of a crazy year. We have not seen any sign of spawn around here.
-
I like the stain on the water. Somehow or other this clear water has done something to the bass spawn in my area of the gravois. Cannot find bed cannot catch a bass that has a torn tail. I had a few good days but the last several have been awful. I think part of it is my fault I am fishing to fast trying to get in as much as Incan in the next couple of weeks before my season goes to the surgery room. CONNOR----- The boat patrol hit coconuts pretty hard this weekend. We had two patrol boats in here the entire time. Was told the owner is all up in arms about it. I do hot give a darn if he gets sp unset it kills him. Something is going to have to be done like they did on grand glaze. Mosamallies------- She was a he i am sure. A female spawns several bed then almost immediately returns to the deep haunts. Thats what I usually wait for. I know where some of thOse haunts are.
-
Maybe not what you all are thinking here but Right now this one gets me. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Someone from put lodge and church dropped his getting out of his car and sure enough it killed him.
-
I have not had the boat off the lift since friday. i live close to the barefoot bar and not far from coconuts. it got very bad. i am positive you could be killed or at least seriously hurt trying to take the boat off the lift around here. I an thankful the hwy is now in control. of the water patrol. ther will no longer be any political pressure like the water patrol got a lot of. They really got tough on them this weekend.

I have used this a long time. It does work well in most cases.

I need to add my wife has always been anything but understanding about buying fishing tackle. And I myself have always been a bit fugal. I like the old reels. They were easy to work on. I trusted the old tackle better than the new in most cases. But Lack of money had a lot ot do with it. ANYWAY i walked up to the counter and seen thiis reel setting there and I fell in love. I was going to buy it even if it caused a divorce. I thought the price was going to way up. Looked down on the plate and it said I think $49 dollars. So I bought it and it has even out preformed some of my other Garcia's. It was made in Sweden. I use 10 and 12 lb test on it. It is as smooth today as it always has been. Back in the day I removed the pads on the centrifuge brake to make it faster. I just put them back on a couple of weeks ago because I can not longer deal with that much speed in a reel. It feels very comfortable in your hand. I tell you Wayne if Garcia started making these thing again I just got to wonder how much they would fetch
-
The handle has been changed. i wore out the grips on the original one.
-
The handle has ! been replaced. I wore holes. thought the grips on the old one.

Wayne...... I talked to a friend about this reel this morning. He owns a repair shop. He has repaired and service thousands upon thousands of reels over the years. He has never seen one and had the same trouble matching it up with the plate numbers. He thinks it was made in some kind of special group for the purposes of presentation or something on that order. I have sent a E mail to the Garcia museum about it. So whatever it is, There are very few of them in existence. I am not interested in selling it or making any money out of it. It will be on my rod where it belongs. It is comparable almost in size to some of the new reels like the black max. Very sweet little reel.
-
They are Flip Tail worms. They were just starting to get a lot of notice at the time on the market at that time. They are 46 or 47 yrs old still work like they allways did and are in like new condition in the plastic bag I bought them in.
-
OK themodel number on the frame is 080009/34. Now I googles that and come up with different models. but nothing that looks exactly like that. All. I can remember is when I bought it at Pro bass in springfield it was all they had. Because it was on the display rack I ask for one. The guy said that was it there would not be more.

There is a new toy on shelf now. String lights for boats. I seen one with green ons on one side and red on the otehr and dead ahead you could not see a darn thing. Seen a pontoon wrapped. with the darn things and t hats all you could see was what appeared to to be a floating mulitcolored thing out there and no idea how large are how far away it was. Does not mater up here anyway 3/4 of those putvthere have had too much to drink by that time. I am glad to report there is new life in the water patrol. I liked the old one but they were subject to a lot of political pressure trying to do there job. It looks like they are different and also tlike there are more of them. i think it might have been a good thing to merge them into the highway patrol.
