  1. Cool. I was thinking of getting a pedastal. Seems like it would pretty convienant to just pull it out and be ready. Dan, I remember the pics of yours and wondered about. Whatever happened to JoRob? Haven't seen him post in a while.
  2. Very nice indeed. So give us some more details. Do you clamp your vice on it or do you go pedestal? I've been wanting to build a pedestal type clamp into a station. Any ideas how? I guess I should go to a hardware store and poke around till I find what I need.

Definitely agree w/ the bow & stern tie downs. I would probably do that even if I had a yakima rack.
  4. It's photobucket that's blocked. I always use the board's feature, down a little below the field for your post is an browse button, kind of like attaching to an web-based email. Anyway, I'm leaving in 11 minutes, so I'll look at it tonight. I'm anxious to see it.
  5. Boy that would suck if you were a fish. Swimming along, minding your own business on the Rock, then you sucked through a flood gate and dropped a couple hundred feet.
  6. Can you attach it? Stupid firewall is blocking it.

I still don't think it's crazy if you securely attached the wood to the rack. I know I've seen wood attached to posts on old 70s Landcruisers and whatnot. Use something like this to attached them and it would be secure.
  8. Good report. Thanks
  9. That background is a nice touch. Good story and good fly.
  10. Good looking fish!
  11. Nice fish!

I think it would work. You might put a block on the end of the 2x4s to keep them from sliding off.
  13. Smallie fishing in the Finley is pretty good. I've usually gone further upstream where it's wadable, but I think any section you could float would be good. I've always done well one brown or green gitzits.
  14. Wikipedia says they can get to 2kg and 57 cm (stupid metric system), which is about 22 inches and 4.4 lbs. That's one big shad
  15. I think Clay's already building his on blanks for spinning and casting rods, just wanting some advice on what people like in their fly rods. I don't know enough to be of much help. My rod is 9ft 6 weight. Medium action, probably. It was fairly entry level when I bought 15yrs ago for about $90. I would think there would be a market, esp. if you were able to customize it as much as you do on your other rods. I like your site, but the way. Nice graphics and the build-your-rod tool is well put together.
  16. Those are some chunks. Were they full of eggs or lunch?
  17. I think the consensus is you've got to find a shop and try some rods. You're finding good deals, but they may not fit you. You may find a $100 rod at retail price that fits you better than a $500 at half price. The fish don't care if you are using a $15 Eagle Claw or a $1000 handcrafted bamboo. I would go to a shop, tell them you want a moderately priced combo and that you've never cast before in your life. They will set you up with what you need, what will be forgiving of beginner mistakes knowing that you'll get into it and they'll make a long-time customer.
  18. Here's a link to an article in the News-Leader. Isn't real thorough, but helpful. http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...KING01/80416040
  19. Good report and nice fish. Thanks
  20. You guys think the high water will help the spawn? Maybe help w/ a Largemouth revival?
  21. Try making it smaller, like 1024x768
  22. I used to fish the Burrell pond a lot. I've caught bass up to 15" in there and some big bluegill and green sunfish. In fact, when I finally bought a nice fly rod at backcountry, I drove straight there. It's actually the Ward Branch that runs through twin oaks country club. I've seen some big fish in that pond by Horton Smith Ronnie mention, but it does get weedy. I've never done much there. This is a little creek that runs behind w/ some nice pools, but the fish are real spooky.
  23. I think he's in Boston. I did see Phil and Babbler chatting the other day before they opened the gates. I called his cell and about 20 seconds later, I see him digging in his waders. There's about a 10 second delay. It was pretty cool.
  24. Neat discussion from you Ams and Bill. You don't get this kind of perspective on Bassmasters.
