  1. Flysmallie, I can't find the page now, but someone put a keel on one w/ a 1x1 piece of round trim. He said he stopped it about a foot short of the bow and stern and it really helped w/ tracking. When I find it again I'll copy the link.
  2. Gannett owns USA Today and the News-Leader, along w/ about 90 other dailies papers, 100s of weekly and a couple dozen TV stations. The business is a lot less about news than it is about other things. You're not the only one dissatisfied w/ the NL, Terry. I think even a lot of the people who work there are. In a lot of ways, the news paper business is dying. They are all diversifying and looking for new revenue streams. The NL has a glossy magazine to compete w/ 417 Mag, they own the Penny Power, which competes directly w/ their own classifieds. They are also putting a lot into the web site, though I think it's hard to navigate, slow, and gives me more pop-up ads than any site I go to. Don't get me started............
  3. Wow. Nice fish Don.
  4. Does that mean you caught it on purpose? Just kidding. I bet that was quite a battle.
  5. I knew I should have come up w/ something besides my name when I signed up for this board. Tell your wife I live in california and I'm in the witness protection program.
  6. Keep us informed. Nothing would be cooler than floating a river in a boat you built yourself, I think. You could always paint the bottom and stain the sides. My thing was a white bottom/floor and natural sides and white trim. The white floor would be helpful to find hooks/split shot/flies when you drop them.
  7. She's starting to have a little faith in me. The privacy fence I built last summer hasn't fallen over yet, so that's good. I told her I build her some board and batten shutters that are so trendy right now and some flower boxes. In all seriousness, what kind/how much wood did you get? I've been wanting to do this for years.
  8. I'm thinking of it for a winter project, but I was hoping someone like you would try it first so I can show my wife "see, it's not that hard" or lie to her and say "see, it's not that hard."
  9. My thinking was if I wanted to keep fish and fly fish, that might be a good place to go. Thanks, Phil.
  10. Bill wrote last week about the gravel bar that makes for difficult navigation. Is that accessible by waders from the bank or is that area private property? Also, is it safe to wade there?
  11. Don't know, but you might try Fin and Feather in Spfd. They make their own stuff. I think their web site is ztackle.com.
  12. Cardiac, what part of town? We're kicking the idea around of moving to the city.
  13. Bill Babler wrote about them earlier this spring, I believe. You might search the board. If I remember right, we did catch some nice fish with them.
  14. Thanks for the pics Terry. Looks like a good turn out.
  15. Nice looking flies, guys (and gal).
  16. Man, that's rough. I hope your septic system is up for the challenge....
  17. That will be nice. I have a hard time finding a good spot. At 2 and 6, it's a challenge. Thanks for the report, too, Dan.
  18. Al, I'm not familiar w/ purple paint meaning something. Is that the international no trespassing color?
  19. I'm curious about the kids pond. Anyone have further details?
  20. Yeah, and ordering a "crown and pepsi" or a "jack and pepsi" sounds kind of lame.
  21. Great, GF, HIDE this from ALL wives immediately!!!!
  22. Gavin, are you implying that Roland's rocket fisherman isn't a quality product?
  23. Got any pics or a contact/shop?
  24. $100?!? I think I'd rather lose a finger!!
  25. Thanks for the details designateddave. We're thinking of bringing the kids down this august and I'd like to get some better fish off the docks.
