  1. that's good info cause the stubby end plays mind gams with me because it doesn't look near as good to my human eye. I usually end up with a half a pack of stubby ends
  2. Off topic a tad but what are your guys thoughts on the TRD? I have used both the TRD and the zinker Z and I'm starting to think I like the Zinker Z better. I think it has a little more movement?
  3. I use the sickle alot on the ones I pour however I have found the hook breaks alot. I use them fun fishing though because they are cheap. When I fish a derby I use gammys that I pour in mine. Last year here in Kansas I caught 5 fish over 6 pounds and a couple over 7 pounds on the Ned rig and they came on the sickle hook head. When they are breaking is when I'm hung up. They are sharp rascals though
  4. I love this and look forward to each day. I'm hoping next time I stay I can give it a try with a trout magnet. Surely you'll take special guests
  5. I use the sore lip series trout 6'6 spinning rod from trout magnet paired with a Abu cardinal. I use 2 pound SOS trout line sometimes with a fluorocarbon tippet sometimes not. I've used a ton of 6 foot spinning rods but I love this longer rod for both casting and fighting trout on light line. Also helps when throwing a jig and float also.
  6. Yeah that fish wasn't pretty. It was thin to. It absolutely hammered a buzzbait though. The fish down there are freaking mean, especially the smallies.
  7. I was trying to represent my beloved Royals but they kept letting me down this weekend .....grrrrr
  8. thank you Quillback. It was so much fun. I've been to Taneycomo a hundred times but had never fished the Rock. Now I might be hitting both in one trip cause Tablerock is awesome!
  9. a few more pictures.
  10. Came to the Rock for the first time ever. What a beautiful and awesome lake you have. We fished the Kimberling city area and caught fish from 6 inches to 56 feet. Cloud cover we had a great topwater bite and sunny we caught them deep on spoons. Several nice smallies on ned rigs as well. Even caught several fish flipping cedar trees. Here are a few of the fish we caught. Didn't get all of them on camera. Travis
  11. It was a good evening for sure. I agree there must be alot because I missed as many as I caught. The size of some of them was fairly impressive. Can't wait to see you at Thanksgiving Phil. We should be at your place the whole week. Travis
  12. I would like to add a small quick report. We made a quick trip down here this weekend and wasn't able to stay on the water. The last hour and a half of daylight last evening I was able to slip down to the landing and fish off one of the docks. I caught 19 rainbows. They were of average size but I had a couple 16 inchers mixed in. All fish came on a trout magnet fished under a small float. Travis
  13. in the trophy area i like to throw jigs straight. 3/32 to 1/8 ounce usually. I like Sculpin/Ginger or white. I would also think about getting you a 7x tippet. If the water is running 4 pound is fine but i think 2 pound or a tippet will get you more bites especially if the water is off. Below the trophy area trout magnets are hard to beat, either without a float or with a float fished 4 foot deep or so depending on water. Again 4 will work but 2 will get you twice as many bites in my opinon. Stop by lilleys and they will hook you up with everything you need.
  14. by the way when you put in a cooper creek just drop the trolling motor down and start fishing right there in that area. one of the best areas of the lake that usually gets quite a few stockings in that area.
  15. cooper creek is the nicest ramp/facility to launch on the lake and right in the middle of where you want. There is also a ramp down by Scotts at the landing. Both are free and nice ramps.
  16. i have noticed alot of guys on here throw Maxima also? Are you guys throwing that on your spinning rods without worry of spooking fish on a drop shot/shakey/ned rig?
  17. Thanks for the info guys! I have a big surplus of 6 pound Pline CXX and i have a ton of confidence in the stuff so before i went out and spent money on 6 pound flurocarbon for 3 days worth of fishing i wanted to see if i what i had would work for their. Good tip on the 12 pound test, i will be sure to pick some up! Thank you guys for the info. Much appreciated.
  18. Going to fsh the rock for the first time the second week in Septemeber. Going to be in the kimberling city area. I plan to throw the ned rig, shakey head and drop shot quite a bit. I use 6 pound test CXX in moss green 99% of the time here in kansas. Will that work down there or is Flurocarbon going to be a must? Also with 12 pound test CXX work for finesse jigs or again do i need Flurocarbon? thanks in advance, Travis

  20. I fished a tournament at Grand lake last weekend and i know it's not relevant to Table Rock a ton but the guys that placed in the top 3 were all fishing shallow flats in the back of coves about 3 feet deep or less fishing any kind of wood they could find. They were so shallow you would of thought they were bow fishing and it was about 100 degrees outside. Go figure.
  21. nice job Phil! That's a beautiful fish
  22. Every time I try to use 2 pound it's like fishing with hair I break off any pointers Wet your knots good. Cinch them down slowly as well and don't get in a hurry. I tie and improved clinch with my 2 pound test line. I use the SOS trout line from trout magnet. I usually swing my fish in the boat and very very rarely use a net unless it's over 18 inches. Make sure to check your knot often, especially after every fish but the best tip i can give you is to wet the knot good and cinch it slowly so you don't burn the line.
  23. need one for the man cave badly!
  24. if you want a resonable rod I like the trout magnet sore lipper series rods. They are $35 and are 6'6. I love mine for throwing magnets, jig and cork and straight jigs with 2 pound test.
