  1. Yup when totally Vertical jigging (watching the Graph) I got a short 25 year old pistol grip "Lews Speed Stick", seems like it is easier to watch the spoon. I'm thinking due to the shorter Rod you will be closer to the puck and that translates to better viewing or watching the spoon on the graph. Hookups and lost fish I think are pretty evenly matched Pistol vs Rods I mentioned. I have heard that a shorter Rod is better for spooning docks, Shorter that the 7'ers I mentioned. I'm new to the dock spooning thing! So I can't comment on that I'm learning that aspect still. The more I learn the more I really don't understand!!!
  2. Rod Denali 7' Worm/Jig Rod & 7'3" Veritas 2.0 Both Med/Hv Reel Revo STX 8.0 Line 10lb Floucarbon Hooks Eagle claw 3X size #4 and VMC Round Bend 1X Short Shank #4 I have used #2 hooks of the same Brands ,
  3. Ok I need some help!! Last couple of tourys I have been near the bottom on the pack, due to losing keeper fish on a spoon!! I have tried a couple different brands, but nothing short shank or a single hook. What's everybody's general ideas?? I have been using a red treble to see if that would help them get it further back in the mouth, no help there. The weight is normally 1\2 to 3/4 oz spoons Docks to main lake same results?
  4. Second to Champ words of Wisdom!! What area are you putting in would likely be the key to your options. One of my Favorite ponds!!
  5. Mostly heavy Jigs and Gizits on the bottom crawled slowly!!
  6. Fished the main lake Friday 9am to 3pm and not a bite Maybe the possibility of a bite, but I wasn't paying much attention after 5hrs of no fish Fished the back of creeks Sat-Sun Gizits, Jigs, Crankbaits, and Stickbaits. More fish 4 to 5 shorts each day and a couple of keepers just no pattern With so many dead shad on the area lakes it is a wonder anyone can catch a limit of bass. I have fished Norfork and Table Rock lately with poor results. The fish I have been catching all have one thing in common the bottom. Weather 5' or 35' they are bottom related my take on that is that all that they have do to do is open there mouth and eat not chase. Hope the next few weeks changes this. Good luck

  8. I used to stay up late and watch him and Virgil Ward on saturday nights after the news. That was back in the day!!!
  9. I have been hearing several reports of tough fishing and had to give it a try myself. And it didn't let me down it was a tough bite for sure. I finally got out Saturday for a couple of hours and Monday for about 5 hrs. There was a 20+ boat derby on Sat out of Panther Bay and it took just over 11lbs to win from what I hear. This clear bowl of water sure gets tough at times even with the (the Chicken/A Rig) tied to your rod. I didn't fish the derby but did hit the lower end for a couple of hours in the wind and found it tough with only 2 bites on a jig deep and missed both, no Jerk bait Crankbait,or Rig fish. Monday was a tad bit better with 6 in the boat for 5 hrs and 2 of those were keepers. They all came on the Rig and was around mid lake area, we did have a few jig bites but no takers. Water on the lower end was stained but could have been from all the wind. It was a bad day to be in a small boat for sure. The mid lake area on Monday looked to be better water for winter fishing.
  10. You can't catchem if ya don't go thats my motto
  11. Mother nature is way beyond us in years of knowledge & weather predicting and like previously mentioned she ain't talking. I have read and heard many thoughts on this vary matter of the barometer and how it affects fish behavior. Here are my own humble thoughts (It does affect fish). But I'm not totally sold on it alone affecting Large fish like Bass, which we fish for mostly on here. I am sold on the matter that it affects zoo-plankton and small minnow first, thus affecting Bass. That along with the changing weather affects the Bass or other predator species. That is why we can't find any shad on our graphs at times IMHO that comes from the pressure on the smaller fish causing them to vacate the area in search of a more stable environment. The reason we catch fish most of the time is they are in a stable or safe condition ie.. not stressed. Stressed fish can not be caught (legally). Basically the high pressure affects smaller fish first.
  12. Everybody always says that dirty water stays warmer, but I almost always on these lakes find it opposite in the Winter time, with the main lake clear water a tad warmer. I guess you can attribute that river water being colder to not as much of it and it being shallower (relative) it will cool faster on those cold days of - degree temps.
  13. Yup that's the place to stay it used to be kinda off the radar but its usually packed on touny weekends now. Still a good spot if you can get it. If I was free I would be there to sling a lure as well. Last time it was hotter than heck. Good luck and enjoy
  14. Got some new line and going to give it a toss or two on the Rig. Anybody use it yet with pro/cons??? I usually use 80# stealth but thought about this. Whats the verdict of the masses on here. A Rig use primarily
  15. how to change how my name appears

  16. Champ has it down that's about the best the advise I have ever seen listed. These guys on the Table Rock page are the best in the NATION PERIOD! These guys are simply unbelievable in there honest opinions and advise. I have been lucky enough to travel around and fish in a lot of places (you notice I didn't say catching) and until you develop the attitude that your not fishing against the other people its the Little Green Fish with brain the size of a sweet pea that's when I started learning more. FISH can't reason and we reason to much they live by instinct. We also want to beat other people to much catch more than ole so and so. . Time on the water and Attitude is my only 2 cents to add for what it's wotrh
  17. Haven't used that one but it does look cool. But then again I buy anything that looks cool (I really need to stop that!!!) I bet it would be killer in those lakes were Red is the spring time deal
  18. I saw that curve I just haven't fished up there this time of the year to know if iits a gradual drop over the month or a boom there it is down type of deal. Planning to come up next week and was just looking at the levels. With the cold I didn't want to get up there right after a major drop in levels. Hard enough to catchem any ways
  19. Have they started dropping the lake any yet. It doesn't look that way from the report that is has been started down yet.
  20. Has anybody heard any of the news about it. I have had several calls lately about it. From what I have heard it's in the finally stages. But does that mean this year or next year I haven't seen any work or construction Eqt were it is supposed to be going. Anybody know any more information??
  21. It seems to be setting up for nice fall fishing and at least some beautiful fall colors to look at. I don't get a chance to fish very often and when I do its usually tournament time, but when I do I will try and keep the page up. I know there are others out there also who fish and want to stay informed.
  22. Went out for a little afternoon action. Wasn't to bad we had several fish on topwaters and sm crankbaits up the creeks. Seen several boats out and talked with a few, everybody was catching sm fish. We had a couple 3lbrs but most were shorts to liners. Good day despite the rain and HOT temps after it blow through. Didn't try deep water spots, but did see several boats out deep while running back in.
  23. Yeah I did that search also. The Omni isnt really what I wanted. The stow and deploy is what i was looking for like the old models. Probly like the old power gators those pages are talking about. Man it would be nice!!
  24. Okay this goes back a while, but they were popular back in the early to mid 90's and beyond. On bassboats mostly aftermarket I believe. The first one I saw was about 94, I was amazed. You could have a switch at the console and bow and flip them to deploy and raise your trolling motor. I can't remember if it was a gear driven or how. It beat pulling the cord all day. I just started the search and thought yall would be the best stating point. They may not have been very reliable as they are not still around? Anybody remember these units. If so were at?
  25. Hey guys anybody know or got a connection up there. I'm looking for a lake to drop a basscat in for a guy to do a test ride and drive. Dont have to be big (as I see none per goggle). Just needs to be big enough i can start and run the big motor. Thanks
