  1. I've got a buddy who loves to fish. Now I'm not going to name names, lets just say it rhymes with Narcus! And he bass fishes with 100% spinning gear because he hates getting birdsnest'.  I have been saying for a while that the newer baitcasters with their multi-braking using centrifugal and magnetic systems almost eliminate backlashes, and that a lot of bass techniques like pitching/flipping, and casting crankbaits just work better with a baitcaster than spinning and is a lot more enjoyable.

Told him I'd get him one its just that much better and finally did it. This spring at TR he will be chucking wiggle warts with  a Johnny Morris Signature Limited Edition LH baitcaster. Picked it up off Ebay new for $71 shipped. Did I do good? Never had a JM.  I've used the Pro Qualifiers before and liked them.

Either way, the baitcaster challenge is on! My guess is we will have another convert by the end of the summer.

Also got myself a New Tatula reel and Tatula 7' M rod on clearance at BPS for $205.

First time using either. Any fans or critics?

shut up matt u just keep that old dodge running so u can pull my boat there and no u cant bring 20 poles and 50 turkey calls were setting a weight limit in my boat for now on

    Hana!

one day you will start bassin' with baitcasters and hopefully I can call a gobbler into your lap and then you will understand my addictions!

Them new Dodges have sure been looking pretty!

Upgrade might happen before April. The 176k on my tranny  have me nervous for another year of up the mountain down the mountain I-44 boat pulls.

  3. Two options. Inflatable dinghy tow behind or...

I get to call Marcus and say the infamous movie line.....

"We're gonna need a bigger boat?!?!"

Got it done again last night. I'll post pics and a video when I'm off work.

  4. Sitting at work wishing I was in the woods with this snow falling at the moment.  Nothing better than following a bloodtrail through a pristine white wonderland.

I'm off at 3. Going to try to be in a stand by 3:45 for an evening sit. Then as long as the roads allow  it's off to my private lease in NW MO for an all day Sunday sit. I won a GoPro Session 4 at my work holiday party. Pretty pumped to use it on all my outdoor trips. Really trying to get a bowkill on video before the end of season buzzer.

  5. Been a good deer season so far. Got to hunt a bunch of different properties public and private all over north MO. Arrowed a 9pt. Nov 8th in Linn co. Took a doe with the 6mm during gun season in Ralls co. And arrowed another doe 2 weeks ago near home in St. Louis co. Still have an any deer tag I'm trying to fill. Been fun but I'm pretty ready for spring turkey/fishing season to get here!

  6. Fished Taney this weekend with Marcus. Got there Fri evening 11:30ish. Couldn't wait a minute, got right to it and fished around the outlets for a few hours. It kinda felt like I was fishing in a dream, being that it was my first time on Taney but in the dark, knowing what all lies around me, but not being able to see a thing. I managed a decent rainbow and Marcus caught a 17" brown right off the bat. He was on the bank fishing the outlet and seen a nice brown come right up to his headlamp beam, threw a big fly at him on a spinning set up and the fight was on. He landed his first brown trout. Not a bad way to start the trip!

Slept in the truck for a few hrs, seeing that sun up was right around the corner. Put the boat in at Sheppard oth ramp at first light, headed to the line and finally got to see the upper Taney in full color. It's an awesome tailwater.

Hooked up but pulled the hook on a nice rainbow on a #14 scud first few casts.

Had fish to hand on our first drift. Bite was pretty consistent all day Saturday on scuds and midges.

Sunday wasn't as productive early on, but did end up catching a few later in the day. Water was gin clear and using 6x tippet resulted in me losing the several bigger fish I hooked up with.

While I was wading, Marcus tied up to a downed tree and hooked up with a really nice 22"+ rainbow. Unfortunately he was in somewhat deep water and I was wading 50 yrds away with our only net, and he didn't land her.

I'll be hearing about it for a while. Sorry buddy! He did manage the biggest fish of the trip. Nice 19" bow on our last drift

Great trip. Just wasn't long enough!

  7. I didn't think you were being serious. I've heard of nukeing crappie, but never trout.

Ill have to give it a try.

Mine usually get coated with Cavenders seasoning and dill inside and out, stuffed with lemon, and spend 2-3 hrs on the smoker.

  8. Marcus and I took a pre-dawn boat ride this morning to hunt before work. He was hunting from the ground.

I had several cheepies that came with stands, but have lent out or misplaced all my extra harnesses.

I appriciate the help Billethead. We have several hang-ons and a climber and I want him to help

put them to use but safely!

    I will pay for shipping!
