  1. sorry Lancer some stuff came up and i haven't shipped yet, mine will definatly go out monday. (threw some extra flies in for you to)
  2. Hey Lancer mine won't ship until thursday, hope this is okay.
  3. i can tie and ship them over the weekend, hope everyone else can.
  4. my original plan for weddings veils isn't panning out, I still have to fine tune the action and with this heat that hasn't been happening. I decided on another large streamer that is effective.
  5. nice! I like that Fishinwrench.
  6. any updates or changes in plans for the swap Lancer?
  7. hey guys thought I would share this pattern, I'm calling it the Hunter Killer Crayfish, named because these things HUNT. So far it has proven VERY effective so I think its time to put it out there. In the water the materials really come alive. I have tied this fly in just about every color I could come up with, so far I have had best results with mottled colors and olive. For the Tutorial I decided to tie a sand colored cray but any color will work. Here is a step by step for it: First I take a size 4 long shank Mustad 38202be . I Place a 3/16 bead head on, on this particular fly I added lead wraps to encourage jigging action. Next I tie on the 'mouth' materials: first a bit of marabou, then 4 barred crazy legs of differing lengths, then 3 strands of krystal flash. I just use silver and color it whatever color I need with sharpies. Then I add a ball of dubbing. this ball gives the "claws" something to rest on keeping them from flattening to much. the dubbing is just dubbing I make myself from yarn, feathers, and lazer dub. next add a pheasant feather to each side to make claws. now I tie in a hackle feather which matches the overall color scheme. then I dub up the body with my dubbing. wind the hackle around, brush to the rear, whip finish and your done! these work great on swings, slow steady strips and dead drifts.
  8. no problem small mouth like I said I will put up a step by step for you, mine didn't do a lot yesterday. I foul hooked one bass and got another to eat it further downstream. could have just been the day not the pattern, fishing hasn't been great. (for me anyway).
  9. that was good of you to call them Amery, the temptation of a free boat would be hard to ignore. (then again I'm badly wanting a boat these days....)
  10. floating Elk river on Labor Day Weekend??? Thaaaaaat might not be good..... As far as the Razor backs game the closer to Arkansas you go the better.
  11. noted for November, thanks Ollie
  12. hey purefish how long of a float were both of those?
  13. ^this, fishing is slow right now my own fishing expectations are low until it cools down.
  14. mine are simple and fish come out a long way to smack them. i'll post a walkthrough this weekend. good luck with your ties smallmouthjoe.
  15. hey smallmouth here are my notes on it: 1. I cant tell what the "mouth" parts are tied of, I would consider making that bucktail or marabou, anything that breathes. If that material moves around in the water leave it. 2. the hair (or feathers?) near the point of the hook might obstruct/hinder hookup with a fish. Also it might keep the fish from staying on. here are my Crayfish flies I tie (I call the Hunter Killer Crays). feel free to borrow any ideas you like from them, or if you want I can give you the recipe. these hunt pretty well ...
  16. which is typically why I prefer to watch fly fishing over hard bait fishing vidoes. Of course you get a TON of people preaching specific flyline, or Orvis, or drift boats, but that's life I guess. This message brought to you by Fish-Skull™ Living Eyes™. "I never have caught so many fish in all my life!! Its like every time I cast out I yell BOOYAH take that Bass!" -Big Brown Trout (actual customer).
  17. cool thanks Flysmallie. One particular item I go through a lot is Fishskull Living eyes, I don't expect you guys to know off-hand if they carry them....but if you do
  18. I agree with Wayne, however I don't know how people sleep well with putting more than three dollars on the end of a fishing line. Call me cheap but I don't like spending more than a buck to find where all the trees are. That said best of luck with it RPS.
  19. deal I read your pm, i'll get ahold of you thanks
  20. good to hear man, I to tied olive crawdads. I Now have them in hot orange/olive, olive, brown, and black/purple. I really love these types of flies. I'm in the process of filling a bugger barn up with them.
  21. well I nearly didn't fish today, when I woke it was storming and I decided taking the flyrod out would wait. after I got around I changed my mind and headed to Cherry corner today but there were way to many people, I jumped from there to allen bridge which didn't work out and from there to hickory creek, again to many people. I settled for just testing flies and caught one measly chub. sorry I didn't see your message Buzz, we will have to fish sometime.
  22. well since somuchwater already bumped this from last year I will add to it: where is this shop? and how does it compare price and selection wise with Bass Pro?
  23. I mean I have found a couple but public access in or very near town, not found to many.
  24. lol let me know if you find any, I don't know when but the wife and I plan to come out fishing shoal today too. last time we fished it we went down to the tipton ford access and it turned out pretty good. I don't know if I have a found a "good" spot to flyfish, at shoal. So many branches fly casting isn't always ideal it seems. If you see a tall guy with a green (stick) flyrod that's me Buzz, maybe we'll see each other out there. btw Buzz I see your in Diamond. Hows the float from Cherry corner down to Allen Bridge? We keep talking about taking it and haven't yet.
