  1. lol im not, I really do like them, I just doubt I could cast them. in lieu of one of Brian's streamers I may put a treble hook on my wife's cat and see how that fishes.
  2. his flies really are awesome though
  3. yeah I saw that swap earlier this year, I just didn't see it in time. just wanted to see him tie something smaller than a fly rod
  4. maybe we can get Brian Wise in on this??
  5. sorry I didn't make it. for some reason I thought it was next weekend Hope you guys did well, I got 2 Big browns to chase my zonker Friday. Unfortunately I got a bad case of buck fever and flung my last zonker into a sycamore. Naturally I stood out in the creek on a tree root ( no waders!) and tried desperately to free it. Needless to say I went home empty handed. I plan to haunt this place the next few months on a regular basis though. hope to see you out there. (incase you see me I wear a brown flannel jacket and have a green fly rod)
  6. Hey Johnny, sent you back a PM. btw just tied a couple of my Crawgrubbers, pretty sure they will work awesome.
  7. hey if I can I would like to get in on this. (both please) if so I will tie two variations of wooly grubbers that I have been developing. a crayfish grubber and a crappie grubber. both would probably work for trout and pond fish.
  8. hey tim is RR still C&R? Those fish look dead...... btw very much appreciate the info about Capps. I had one BBT ready to take my last zonker today. unfortunately the sycamore got it first.
  9. actually its not just trout parks that are C&R. Hickory Creek is white ribbon and it is winter C&R. WOZ make sure you check ALL area regulations for where you choose to fish. and stlfisher, catch and release in Missouri Starts Nov 1. not Nov 8th. if you need to check the trout (or any other regs) your first stop should always be here: http://mdc.mo.gov/fishing/regulations and here http://mdc.mo.gov/sites/default/files/resources/2011/01/2013fishsum.pdf (these handouts are free at Wal-Mart)
  10. oh man I love your latest three, mine should look gooey as I made it out of condoms (seriously though, I did). man I love your latest three, here is the couple I tied, the reference pics I found on google showed them with dark heads so I burnt the top to make dark heads. P.S. I sent you a PM
  11. well my wife and I decided on a 'Brown' Friday fishing trip. I plan on going today, guess I will decide if its worth another trip back to Capps in Dec or not tomorrow.
  12. mine use marabou for the butts. I just tied it on then doubled it over before I wrapped the yarn.
  13. lol like I said I was motivated. I went straight to the vice and on my second attempt turned out this: I still like yours better though. sorry the pic is a little blurry, my camera sucks. after I tied it a put a coat of Sally's on it for.......protection. thanks again for your precise measurements and photos Johnny without them I never could have tied this. btw for anyone interested the recipe is: mustad #8 long shank olive and dark green dub peacock hurl (for the turd things) black thread 4lb mono and a durex condom
  14. very nice, I was just about to make some variations of the Vladi worm. this has given me lots of inspiration. thanks Johnny. btw do you know the time of year these larvae would be 'hot'?
  15. i tied some wooly worms up in various sizes earlier this month. they are dark brown with a chartreuse tag (tail). I also tied up some wooly grubbers to, I expect these will be great next season. here are some of the wooly worms I tied earlier this month:
  16. links dead...
  17. thanks Brian I will try it more that way
  18. very nice man your vids have been a big help to my tying. I had a question when you take the dubbing and start working it with your hands what are you doing here? I assume its to make the dubbing stay together better, I tried this with mine but it doesn't hold together well.
  19. talked to a guy down there today c&r-ing with a spinning rod and a bubble. he caught 5 in the half hour we talked. sad to say I haven't caught five in a day yet
  20. sometimes I do get bored and just hook longear and blue gill with dry flies, but I don't really get a kick out of catching chubs especially when I catch twenty or so a day.
  21. I walked most of it (the Morse park stretch) that week, it was pretty empty. saw it has been stocked since that day though.
  22. people catch and keep out of season?
  23. if you like catching chubs Ham maybe you will fish out some of Hickory Creeks surplus for us. Don't know If I will make it or not, I did just buy a new 7wt. today though and would like to give it a run for its money. I'm at a serious handicap though for winter fishing as I don't have a pair of waders, and no way am I getting into a spring creek in Dec without them
  24. scouting if they get caught, hunting if they don't right?
  25. i went by there today and saw some people out bird hunting, also saw lots of cars parked at the field access areas.
