  1. nice !
  2. wonder how Bull will fish after 800+ boats have been on it before the elites even get here, she can be stingy sometimes, A lot of the big bass will be done spawning by the time they get here but I expect a few bigs will make a showing. I knew an old guide who swore the majority of bass leave the banks on the weekends and then go back on Monday????
  3. painted a few Spro rk's , will put some pics up asap
  4. i still have these, when we used them I put alka seltzer in the pouch
  5. , I still have some old fish formula bottles that don't get used anymore because they look gross now, but I didn't get serious about scents until many years later. Now it's a must have. Sometimes I rub crappie power sparkle nibbles on my soft plastic bass baits They like it..smear some on a fluke and watch the glitter fall off when twitching it, be ready to set the hook! somebody said they saw an x rap in my box that had a tiny scent pad glued to it but I can't deny or confirm that . used to use smelly jelly for a while,, its good stuff too KVD sticks are good at temps below 85 degrees, had a few melt in the sun but still usable. The shad and craw sticks used together ,try that if you haven't already.when it comes to spray scents I'm just not a fan of any pumps, aerosols or misting sprays. may have missed this but has anyone used pro-cure, is this the super gels that were mentioned? I still need to try them
  6. may I ask how deep were they suspended? how deep was the bottom? thanks
  7. fake stuff tipped with a minnow they want meat! all I'm saying is the guy who had his limit before noon was using minnows, my Dad was out for 4 hours in the morning too throwing plastic and never caught a crappie. He did have a 24" walter though. I've caught some on just straight artificial, a hyper grub, but an artificial tipped with a live minnow is way way better for numbers it seems, or just a minnow by itself. They get more aggressive every week. Pretty soon artificial will be all you need. This roller coaster weather is not helping any.
  8. warts catch big fish if you put them in the right spot at the right time just like any other lure, When I was younger i caught lots of big bass on a wart. I don't use them anymore because I sold them all. I'm not much on shallow cranking until towards the end of the spawn.. Then I bust out the cranks, Strike King and Rapala. btw, anybody else wondering why this Bull topic is posted in the TR forum??
  9. Ham, if you want to catch crappie the northern creeks are on fire !! 3 guys I talked to fishing out of 2 boats had caught 127 keepers in 3 days. Yesterday morning saw a guy that had his limit before noon. LIVE BAIT LOL
  10. probably, they fish all the time i'm jealous, lol add some blades ,a soft plastic trailer, skirt , and trailer hook and you've got a really really heavy brick!
  11. warts are nice and all , but I make a killer 1oz. spinnerbait. There's been so many big bass caught on it lately it's unreal!. I sold 3 to a guy and his son. They have caught three 8's, two 7's, and several in the 5-6 range with it already this month. Boatloads of keepers too. One day they had a 27lb 5 fish limit with an 8.11 kicker on that bait. sucks i work too much or I'd be using one right now too
  12. model LST68MH-MFC I was skeptical about ordering some online without holding one first, but I went ahead with it. Was looking for a rod that could serve as a multi technique rod and am happy to say I found one. The weight of this rod is much less than I expected for a graphite/glass blank. The overall finish is really slick too. At less than $100 it's a bargain. 1/4-3/4oz lipless and billed cranks,1/4 to 1 3/8oz topwaters, unweighted soft baits,3 1/2-5 1/2" jerkbaits have all fished very well on this rod. The tip has plenty of give but doesn't give too much. I was throwing a 3/8 buzzbait with it and the bass were not aggressively hitting the bait and they were able to take it under gently.. The powerful backbone was right there as soon as I set it and the hook penetrated very easily. Once hooked I was able to steer and fight kicker bass through heavy cover with the entire rod blank engaged with no signs of twisting or weird noises. This rod is definitely a Lunker Stik! With cranks/jerks it's a winner too. Sensitivity is super imo. The blank is part Fenglass part fiberglass that can easily handle these baits. Even though it's a tough but forgiving blank with some good backbone it loads very nicely when using treble hooks and fluorocarbon line. Lately I've been throwing weightless soft plastics with it on braid/fluoro leader. The guides aren't micro so the small knot travels through them nicely during the cast. The sensitivity is even greater now with the braided line. Could easily feel the weightless baits while crawling them across the lake bottom. No doubt when I got bit. http://www.fenwickfishing.com/fenwick-freshwater-rods-fenwick-lunkerstik/fenwick-lunker-stik-casting-rod/1371868.html#specifications
  13. well done sir
  14. if we get the rain forecast for Monday and get some water running up in the backs the whites are gonna go bananas!
  15. some of you guys would shi* if you saw how many fish i'm seeing lately with the AquaVu ,lol I can hardly believe it myself..I looked at one 50yd stretch of bank where we've been catching some crappie lately. Saw at least 400+ gills all sizes, some little bass, big crappie, catfish, carp. A guy could sit on that bank and catch bluegill all day long! (I might just do that, lol)
  16. Mark I think you are doing very well this year with your fishing, you don't give yourself enough credit man..You thought you had a "terrible" day , but it makes you a better decision maker in the long run. you'll get them next time
  17. no matter what the wind/weather is like, I'm not wetting a hook until I find shad first. for me that's been the biggest factor to being consistent with the bass at Bull had some excellent trips on those nasty weather days ,post front, 20-30+ N wind, high skies, 32 degree air , 40 degree water, but I was on shad and feeding fish and just loaded the boat.
  18. nice bass ,that last largemouth has a huge tail WOW!
  19. funny you should say that, and I've never told anyone this before, but I'm going to now, I've been seen running a burned wp into a buoy ,on purpose
  20. that's a great idea! i always seem to get bit better on the plopper with a fast retrieve so don't limit yourself to 2mph while trolling one. have been using an 8:1, pretty sure my wp's are reaching speeds of 2mph +
  21. Know a dude who makes something similar to this but it jigs a lot better
