Picked a few this morning for my family.

Mid season tomato pruning time. Every leaf and sucker below the lowest fruits get the chop now, and all suckers without flowers are also taken. Focus the growing energy towards the main stems and existing fruit. It takes forever to grow these so time is something you have to take advantage of ,especially now. You don't want leaves touching your tomatoes either. Those hornworms and such like to lay under leaves that touch and lay on the tomatoes and eat on them so keep the foliage cleared for the most part so they don't have a place to hide and feast. Every plant is loaded with groceries. All plants got a milk bath this morning too. Plants have to have airflow and some kind of natural fungicide because now when it's super hot and humid is when the diseases will thrive so you gotta be one step ahead. Milk works. Im doing this once a week now. .60% water to 40% skim milk. Mist the leaves in the morning as the sun rises. Still soil soaking with Neem oil every two weeks now. 1tbsp. per gal . Still no bugs. Doesn't bother the bees or "good predator bugs" since they don't eat the leaves. Still doing the same feeding schedule ,just cut back on the N a little and boosted the P and K. I want tomatoes,not leaves. Foliar feeding with cal mag once a week too. approx. 50 maters on this plant. I sell by the pound so it should be a great harvest in a great weeks with 11 plants. . Have been getting some nice ones over a pound too!. (Pics to follow) Watermelons and lope melons are still good, a few jalapenos and hundreds of sweetheart tomatoes are ready to pick today too.

Yes a bait ball, yes there's some kind of fish under. But they aren't actively feeding imo. If they were on the munch there would be lines streaking all over the screen as they chased the bait but it looks like they are just following the bait in that picture. Vertical jigging white or silver spoons can be very effective for that.😉

The long wait is finally over! Starting to get some eaters now👍 picked these this morning to have with the sweet corn and pickles for tonights Bull Shoals catfish and bluegill fish fry

Salt ,black pepper,Olive oil, garlic,turmeric, lime The rub was paprika, back yard original seasoning,black pepper, seasoned salt, onion powder The baste was red pepper flakes, worchestershire, brown sugar, Country Bob's sauce thinned and applied after first two hours and then again at the last 30 minutes

Smoked some thighs this morning with Oak and Hickory. About 3/4 done. 175-200° for 4-4 1/2 hours or so. Basted 2x during smoking and marinated the night before.

We did some peppers today and more cukes. Hot bananna, red and green jalapeno, and habanero.

The last few trips have been pretty much the same thing. Top water baits before the sun gets up , Im on the water by 5:15. noisy bright colored ones in dirty water, natural colors and a more finesse approach in clearer water. Back of coves is where I've been finding some bass shallow in the cover. With falling water the bite back there has been getting slower,but still productive. A Bill Dance Spit n Image and a Bass Asassin 3" Shad Asassin have been the the most productive for me. Around 9am I put away the bass gear and start looking for Gill beds. With the lake dropping the fish are moving out and they arent where they were at for a long time. The ones I'm finding now are in 2-4' on gravel near deeper water and near steeper banks and there's usually 12-15 beds . Not catching very many females now, just the big bulls guarding . They are suckers for a floating Jighead with a honey worm on it. It's fairly clear water,4' visibility , where I found some yesterday and they would smash that floating jig on the surface while lightly twitching it. Up shallow in foot of water next to the bank there are hundreds of baby gills and baby yellow perch in the same school. I saw one bush had at least 50 gills in it and about a half dozen five inch yellow perch mixed in with them. I can see a lot of the lake ,acres of water where I was fishing and never saw one school of fish busting shad in the last 3 outings. What ever happened to the days where we'd catch schooling whites in the Summer? I just don't see that anymore in the Theodosia Arm.

Fresh picked this morning. Just to sample. These sweethearts are amazing! I like them way better than the cocktail variety I grew last year. Had enough to feed myself and give some away and there's still hundreds more green lol.

Don't think I ever mentioned the cantaloupe patch before. Got one about ready to eat now, several smaller green ones still.

Remember these Sugar Babies from a couple weeks ago or so,,, Well,,,🤭 Absolutely loaded with melon blooms, already got 14 baby melons baseball sized and they are getting bigger every day and will need support soon so they don't break off. There must be 90 or more smaller.There are sixteen watermelon plants in that raised bed. Four in each corner.

Speaking of gold tomatoes, I found this beautiful plant sitting on my deck Monday. It was a gift from a neighbor. It has a few blossoms ,but it needs some flower fuel. supposed to be gold cherries! Will know in a few weeks. A lot of you are probably getting red ripe tomatoes now, and the next bunch is forming, or has been. Now is a good time to amend your soil. If you're using soil. I highly recommend flower fuel and cal mag plus. Cut back on the Nitrogen a little too. You'll notice a big difference in just a few days , with way more blossoms, and more and bigger fruits. Tomato plants need the extra ca.,, Mag,, P ,,and K, especially if they are big plants and heavy feeders like mine. Also picked up some more Ancient Earth nutrients (humic/fulvic acids) and some other organic water soluble products to use the rest of the season because I'm about out of the Espoma bag stuff and at this stage the plants need a stronger fertilizer than the Espoma ratio numbers due to their size. I increased the feeding schedule to twice a week now. Have been successful in preventing diseases and fungus so far this year, no blight , rot, rust, or yellow leaves using just a simple Neem oil soak. Been foliar feeding with just the cal mag bi weekly and watering in the just flower fuel once a week for now. Plants are as healthy as can be! It's peak bug season now, every bug and critter that likes tomatoes are out so keep an close eye on your crop! When I thanked my neighbor for the plant I noticed he had about four different kinds of bugs on his plants. Last night I offered to spray them with a Dawn soap and Neem mix and he agreed they needed some attention pronto. I've been have great results using just a Neem soak in my garden. I use 1/2 tsp per litre and pour into the pots every other week at first when the mater plants are small and not yet producing blossoms, then when they are big I'll use it 4x times a month at a ratio of 1tsp per litre . Neem oil actually has beneficial nutrients that are good for the plants and has many beneficial uses in the garden. My cardinals are still taking care of the caterpillars for me. Yesterday they had their baby Cardinal with them teaching it how to hunt worms too. Corn is doing wonderful, watered and fed it yesterday. Counted at least 40 ears now 😀 Watermelon are growing like crazy! There's already quite a few baby melons golf ball size,and the vines are growing a foot longer every day now. I've been using the same disease/pest preventative Neem soak on them, same flower fuel, cal mag and Ancient Earth,, only difference is the main food source is an all purpose water soluble 20-20-20 fertilizer that has all the micro nutes already in it. I use a lower nitrogen number on my maters.

Have these scattered around the yard. Boy do they smell good!!

No ripe ones yet, they take a long time. Rough count this morning of around 175 or so, with another new bunch of blossoms just setting in the last three days. Hidden well ,there are 19 tomatoes on this plant. Everything is trucking right along. Starting to get some cobs, think there's about 15-20 in there so far. Sugar babies are going to town now , lots of blooms too. They don't get very big melons are easy to support with nylon hose on the fencing.

Prayed for bees, and this morning I saw these metallic green and gold tiny little helpers on every tomato plant. They actually look mechanical close up, and sound like a mini drone when they fly. And Mom and Pop Cardinal birds check every plant for worms and bugs at least twice a day. Natural insect repellants😀 Tomatoes have exploded with new growth, blooms all over, and the sweethearts are turning out to be awesome producing plants. Must be a thousand flowers/tomatoes on each plant, no joke. Growing fruits in large clusters kind of like grapes! Here's one of the sweeties, and couldn't be happier with the amount of flowers, and these are just the current bloomers, there are just as many already set and making fruits! In addition to the copper sulfate and neem oil, I've added micronized powder azomite ,liquid calcium,and a liquid leonardite solution (humic/fulvic acids) that has additional potassium, all this gets added to the watering schedules now to help beef up the plants before the summer heat sets in . It really helps with plant heat stress and nutrient uptake and fruit production,prevents pests ,diseases, molds, and rots. Next week all tubs get their biweekly top dress of an Espoma Tomato and Garden Tone mixture.
