  1. Uuuuummmm......I happen to like Aunts Creek.
  2. Wish I had more to tell SmallyWally. It's tough during midday....just got lucky on a hunch and would up gettin' bit. Good fishin' hopefully not far off with Fall coming.
  3. That's not a bad about weight with all the "short" fish the rest of us are catching. Can't get enough big keepers to get anywhere near that myself. Lol
  4. Welcome aboard 96 champ. Really nice fish pic too !!!
  5. Spent the weekend tent camping at Hawker Point. Great weather with cool evenings....perfect. Wife and I spent most of Sat. in the water floating on noodles around the boat enjoying the quiet and scenery. Fished my usual rocky banks and points between Mutton and Old State Park throwing jigs, salty craws and big worms only to manage 3 bites and 1 keeper LM. Wow.....I must suck at fishing !!! Pretty frustrating to say the least. Lots of fish on the graph and all are suspended....don't really see any hugging the bottom right now. Fishing under them for sure ! We went out Sun. morning early up towards State Park on points and chunk rock banks and same scenerio. Headed to the dam on a hunch and finally found some willing to bite. Caught a dozen or so with 4-5 keepers. They hit jig/craw and 4 inch tubes (dark melon green) Texas rigged. Fish the east side of riprap if facing the dam and drift the bait down from 15 ft into 50 ft. Kept the bait on the bottom and fish were at 30-40 dead on the bottom....they would smack it as it came off the slope. This pattern held up for over 2 hrs in the middle of the afternoon. We had to head back to drop camp and head for home but what a dandy finish to a frustrating weekend of fishing. Hope you all did somewhat better.
  6. 9lb is right on. Fall is great time for bass. We fish the points on north side of lake. Jigs works well for us. Don't forget BIG worms...10-12 inches ! Big bait = Big bite !!! Bass should be up along banks fattening up by then. Heard were due for hard winter this year. Right now I think their gorging on the plentiful shad.....been a little tough for me lately. I'm not much of a crankbaiter....love bottom baits too much !!!
  7. Canoe boy.....not sure what direction you're coming from but hawker point is a nice place to fish. You can go around the campground and back into hawker cove quite a ways. You'll be sheltered off the main lake and have plenty of good fishable water back there. Be sure in the late afternoon/early evening to fish the point out in front of campgrond....there are willow trees on it....can't miss it. Throw jig/craws or chompers out there. Good place ! Been some top water out there lately too!
  8. Walk the bank along the road side of water discharge to catch bass along the weed beds. For cats.....throw shrimp or shad in discharge pool. They usually run small but fun if you have kids fishin' with you.
  9. Had 2 boats go between me and a point I was fishing labor day. I was out a cast and a 1/2. Just stopped fishing and looked at them like...what are you doing ?!!? They just look back at you like....what? It was less that 4 foot of water under them. Wish there was a boulder down there !!!
  10. By the way....I have 3 double breasted flop jiggers. They catch bass like crazy !!!
  11. 9LB.....you share my same sentiments. I just want to spark some enthusiasm in those of us who focus more on bass in Stockton. No offense intended to those who fish for any of the other species.....there are many and they share info readily with each other. I think that's cool. I would be glad to share info with other bassers if I thought there were any...lol...cause no one posts anything. I know you all are out there. Going this weekend to camp and fish and will post my results soon as I can. Hope it can spark some interest. It's all good....we're all out there on the water for the same reason.....enjoying life and the outdoors !!! Personally.... it's my therapy. Lol.
  12. Interesting remarks for sure. I think the weights are gonna be low
  13. Nice pics....sounds like good fishin' for end of August ! Most of your fish shallow when throwing something besides topwater ? What was your best bait ?
  14. Ditto flysmallie !!
  15. Now this is what I'm talking about......finally a discussion about bass fishing. Lol. I totally agree with flysmallie in that I don't need help either....been fishing over 30 years !! But it is nice to read what someone is doing that is putting fish in the boat whether they are 1 lbs or 7. Power drive is right on......just helps sometimes when it's tough to maybe give an fellow Basser a starting point. I may not tell exactly where I caught em...but I'll be glad to share what on...color....depth...etc. Plenty of fish for all !!!!?
  16. Flysmallie......less attention is good. Suspect that's one reason for small crowds.
  17. That sucks. Donated a pair myself one day in Aunts Creek.
  18. Glad to hear replies from you guys. We fish here and table rock and both provide good fishing for bass. Stockton is great when you want to escape the crowds and hustle that table rock has now days. Don't get me wrong...love the rock. Just seems Stockton doesn't get mentioned much for black bass. Would just like to see more post and be able to share with the rest of you of success and failure.
  19. Just wondering if anyone fishes exclusively for bass on Stockton ? Seems all you hear about is walleye or crappie ? No doubt it's a good fishery for those species but the bass population is very good as well. Just asking.........

    Pic

    Nice fish cindyjo !
  21. I use 17 lbs test Excel or Trilene XT in 14 lbs test. Both are durable and cheap. Floro line is way over rated.....not worth the extra cost.
  22. That's cool....I'll have to look into it jay bird. Thanks for passing that on. I can't see jack squat in the dark and I love night fishing.
  23. Yeah.....wasn't thinking about bugs...would be awful huh? I was looking at flicking on lights to light up the bank and such on those pitch dark nights
  24. Hey jay bird.....where did you get the lights ? Do they come in a white light too?
  25. Thanks quillback....have read lots of your post. You seem to be an avid fisherman yourself. Lol
