  1. Wow! Nice walleye! Sounds like a good smallie too. Haven't heard many people talk about pulling walleye out of Sac this time of year. Congrats! Were you fishing closer to the lake or farther upstream?
  2. Awesome thread Marty! I got a taste of Montana a few years ago and I have dreaming about going back ever since. Hope to make many, many more trips out there in the years to come.
  3. I had a feeling that was the answer that I would receive, but I figured it was worth a shot. After looking over a few maps it was pretty clear that most of the water running through the area isn't much more than small muddy creeks.
  4. Glad to see I'm not the only one shooting pigeons! Took a few from our farm a couple weekends ago. Congrats on the Eurasian. Haven't shot one yet.
  5. So I realize that like Kansas, eastern Colorado is usually just thought of as a boring obstacle that we must pass through in order to get to the mountains. I enjoy planning trips to some of these "flyover" regions, so I was wondering if there was any descent fishing east of Denver to the Colorado/Kansas line. I'm looking for anything worth the drive that would be fun on a fly rod. I'm having a hard time coming up with any information on the area (probably because there isn't much information worth sharing), so if anyone has any input or knowledge of some overlooked fishery out that way I'd love to hear about it.
  6. As always, great shot! I will definitely be adding this to my arsenal. Any love for the beetle spin?

    Remmel dam

Beautiful shots! I've really fallen in love with long exposure shots in the past year or so. Mind sharing your other settings for these pics?

    Nebraska

Sounds like a good trip! What part of the state were you in? I'd love to head out to western Nebraska to hunt someday. Beautiful country.
  9. My updated list: -Largemouth (biggest so far was 5lbs 3oz.) -Smallmouth -Ozark Bass -Rainbow Trout (Wild) -White Bass -White Crappie -Bluegill -Green Sunfish -Longear Sunfish -Creek Chub So far, all of these have been with the fly rod.
  10. DaddyO I've also been putting the smack down on some pond panfish the past few weeks. I've caught more crappie on the fly in the past 2 trips that I did all last year.
  11. Great photo rFisherk!
  12. Good info guys. May give the Cajun joint a shot!
  13. I'll be heading down to both Shell Knob and Purdy for work in the next few weeks. Anyone know of any good places to eat while I'm out there? Anything worth seeing or any places to bank fish while I'm out there? I'll probably hit Capps on my way home from Purdy.
  14. Bringing this one back to life. Anyone know the status of Noblett? Fishable?
  15. I always look forward to your reports! Probably lost the gar because the hook didn't really get embedded in its mouth. Their jaws are so boney that it can be hard to get a hook to stick.
  16. Slider? Looks fishy!
  17. Thanks guys! Appreciate the feedback. I'm hoping to get out and run some lines within the next couple of weeks.
  18. I've caught a bunch of catfish on a rod and reel, but I've never tried to catch them with set lines. I've been looking into setting some limb lines or ditty poles this year on some of our local rivers to catch a bunch of eating size channel cats. I realize everyone does theirs differently, but I wanted some input on your set ups. What is your favorite bait? Do you guys prefer circle hooks or treble hooks?
  19. Sounds good! I'll ask a couple of my friends that work with MDC and the Corps and see if I can get that figured out. Maybe that grassy area next to the road is private, but right in front of that sign is state/corps land.
  20. Well that just ruined my day.. I was considering going out there on Thursday night. I wish people were more considerate of other peoples land so we wouldn't be losing access. I thought that there was a yellow MDC sign attached to a fence post right there where the cable stretches across the path?
  21. Great idea for a thread! I started out fishing a little later than I had hoped this year due to a very busy winter. Hoping to add a lot more to this list as the year progresses. -Largemouth (biggest so far was 5lbs 3oz.) -Smallmouth -Ozark Bass -Rainbow Trout -White Bass -White Crappie -Bluegill -Creek Chub
  22. Great shot!
  23. I also started fishing last night around 5:30pm and only ended up landing 5 fish during the 3 hours I was on the water. Released them all. Caught all of them on Clousers. Most were your average size Little Sac white, with one descent sized fish in the bunch. Most people I saw had a few dinks on their stringers, but didn't really see any big fish or big numbers. Saw one kid pull out about a 12-14'' walleye. Water level is about normal with a slight stain. If we could get some consistent weather for 2-3 days I would think it'll begin to pick up.
  24. That dark spot behind his eye would make him easy to ID.
  25. I hear about steel bridge all the time, but I don't know how to get there. Anyone care to post/pm me directions from springfield or Taylor Bridge?
