  1. Jealous. Definitely on my bucket list! A-rig?
  2. I'm always on the lookout for new BilletHead threads! Can't get enough of your hunting and fishing reports, lure building, etc. Great looking poppers!
  3. Jim, Thank you for all of the input! I'm really trying to focus on improving my nymph and midge fishing this year. I'll take a look at the book and video you've recommended.
  4. Up on the Little Sac. Didn't make it out this weekend after all.
  5. If you're talking about Al, then I agree! Al for Representative!
  6. I'm considering giving it a shot this weekend. I'm afraid it might still be a tad early, but I'm just dying to get out.
  7. Okay Ham, you got me. I would much rather spend my time catching smallmouth, but big bluegill on a fly rod are a close second.
  8. Man! Those look sweet! Is that second fly a variation of a Low Fat Minnow? Finally got my materials in the mail today. Should be able to crank out the flies in the next couple of days.

    Ice

Smallfry, those shots are incredible! Where were those taken?
  10. I'm all about some big, bull blue gill! Hardly a better way to spend a summers day.
  11. I read somewhere that after he withdrew it he stated that the main goal of his actions was to bring forth debate and question over MDC funding and that he feels like he was successful in that aspect. However, this could be a reporter filling in the blanks.
  12. Jealous! I wish I had a rig like that!
  13. Here's a poll from from Brent Frazee at the Kansas City Stare about the recent bills. At this point, 79% of the polls 600 responders are completely against the bills. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/outdoors/article8627708.html
  14. Nice fish! Little early to be hitting the lightning wasn't it!?
  15. Current record for Gizzard Shad on pole and line is 1lb. 6oz. Here's a list of Missouri State record fish: http://mdc.mo.gov/sites/default/files/resources/2010/05/state_record_fish_list_2014.09.11.pdf
  16. Can't go wrong with Grad School or Maria's! So many good restaurants around town.
  17. Here are the qualifications for a MO record fish: 1. To qualify, the applicant’s fish must: a.be captured by legal methods from Missouri waters, b.be a species included on the Missouri State Record Fish list on the reverse side of this form and c.meet or exceed the current record. 2. New records must meet or exceed the Master Angler minimum weight for that species to be considered. 3. Anglers may be recognized in two different categories: “pole and line” or “alternative methods” (this includes trotlines, throwlines, limblines, banklines, jug lines, spearfishing, snagging, snaring, gigging, grabbing, archery or atlatl). 4. Fish must be weighed on a certified scale in the presence of an employee of the Missouri Department of Conservation. 5. The entry must be examined and identified by a Department of Conservation Fisheries Biologist or Conservation Agent familiar with the genus. If these persons cannot identify the species with certainty, they must seek the assistance of a designated fish identification expert. Call (573)522-4115 x3501 for assistance in finding and contacting the nearest identification expert. The Department reserves the right to involve additional biologists to confirm the identity of the species. 6. Genetic testing will be performed by the Missouri Department of Conservation when necessary for positive identification at no cost to the applicant. Potential record fish may be frozen, but should not be mounted or consumed prior to receipt of a letter confirming the record. 7. A color photo of the fish is required. Sounds like your next step will be to throw that sucker in the freezer and call a biologist. Congrats on the catch! Here's the entry form: http://mdc.mo.gov/sites/default/files/resources/2010/05/staterecordfishentryform_fill2.pdf
  18. That should be doable.
  19. I will also be tying single hook streamers. I'll be tying the Fly Fish Food Belly Scratcher Minnow that will look similar to a blue gill fry. It's a pretty universal fly that should work for trout, largemouth, and smallies. It's not a huge streamer, but it should fish well. You can see the pattern here. http://www.flyfishfood.com/2014/11/belly-scratcher-minnow.html Whats our deadline?
  20. Yeah, I didn't think about that. That would probably make it easier on you when it comes to sorting everything. I will send in 8 then to keep everything simple and straight forward. You can close it if you'd like. I don't think anyone else is interested.
  21. Sounds like a great event! I'm sure there were lots of cool stories and experiences exchanged.
  22. If we did 2 of our flies for each person we would each only need to send in 6.
  23. I count that as a big win! Thank you to everyone who has voiced their opinion on the matter, especially those who have written to our reps. 1 down 12 to go...
