  1. Phil I had a young lady in my store today that I went to high-school with. She says she knows you... Stephanie hale. The hatcheries managers wife. Said she went to college with your kids. Clint is his name I believe. She had nothing but nice things to say about you guys. Small world
  2. I'm usually out before anyone else. It is nice alone at out let one for 30 -45 minutes before the crowd piles in. It's even better if it rains then I'm the only one
  3. I like that generation pattern. Then I can fish at night in peace and in the morning I can wade with free range lol
  4. Heading done first week of October as usual. Anyone been wading in the trophy area? What's generation been like lately?
  5. Happy birthday Marty and Phil. You two have help shape the fishing in the Ozarks for me. Through advice this site and being good fisherman. I met Marty now I have to meet phil
  6. In Georgia they run up the Savanah in the summer to get food and cool water access and it oxygen rich. This could be a similar scenario
  7. Happy bday nice fish!
  8. I've caught pretty big trout still parred up out of crane.. some six inches to 7. I think it's as they mature. Whether that's dietary or just age or both I'm not 💯
  9. It has a big spring and some big gravel shoals and access to several large creeks and one river .
  10. They are there and reproducing quite well. I have caught fish from 8 lbs down too three inches or less
  11. The were still doing this in the 60 and 70s... we had friend who were approached by some guys from kc that wanted to put trout In a spring on their property in late 60s early 70s. They are still in there with no help...
  12. I get that but what about Carolina and Georgia? Tennessee ? They are not colder and have browns naturally reproducing? If water temps trigger spawning in most fish then why wouldn't browns spawn later? WHAT triggers brown spawn if not temp? I'm very interested in this topic
  13. Early attempt in pink and blue refined attempt in white and black
  14. How come thy spawn I spring river Crane Creek niangua hurley creek a lit of tiny feeder creeks... unless you're referring to the browns 😂
  15. My guess would be he means we control the water via the dam and all we have to do is adjust the flow or remove the dam and the whole fragile system collpases
  16. Literally what I said lol maybe some research project should be done to figure out why they dont
  17. I've heard from several folk that they do spawn in current... I read a report that also said they spawn in Taney too. . . So who th heck knows. Wish they did spawn. Think it's weird the spawn in ark and Georgia and Virginia and several other states that aren't any cooler than Missouri but thy won't spawn here.
  18. They breed in feeder creeks for sure. As a kid I saw them spawning in local creeks even up turkey Roark and others. They spawn well in Missouri where as the brownies from what research I've done can't handle the mineral make up of our water any where except the current river I believe.
  19. Assuming you guys are whacking them on jerks in the flow?
  20. Praying for your family Doug.
  21. I have caught dozens of brownsin the day time but the big ones are predatory and usually hunt other fish at night. Most other aggressive response is from territorial aggression. That said everyone has a theory and they are just that. Most of the big browns I've seen in the day time on streamers have Been around 12 to 2pm...
  22. Doesn't really look as if they've done much... wonder when they will finish? 😂
  23. I caught a bunch in the afternoon from dam down to out flow... great time with sandy as always!
  24. So there were fish in the stream! Caught around thirty in two sessions. The early morning was slower but sandy and i caught several in zone one then we moved to zone 2 and caught quite a few below hatchery out flow area and up stream. Then it rained and sandy went home. I went back to the big dam after the rain and my family events caught five or so up there. Then i worked my way back down to outlet area from the dam. Long walk but a ton of fish. Caught some really tiny trout all parred up and white tipped fins today. One was only three inches long. . .
