  1. The Book of Eli Basically, I love movies that have a twist that I don't see coming from 3 miles away.
  2. I guess that's one person I don't have to worry about fishing my spots.
  3. I think the bait shop closed last fall. I havent crossed the bridge to look this spring to see if it has opened back up.
  4. I keep seeing all these great cheesey movies that I forgot to put on my list! Christmas Vacation? Vegas Vacation? Grumpy Old Men? Major League? How could I forget those? Then I want to add a couple more to my list: Slingblade Trouble with the Curve Blind Side Ness, this is the best and the worst thread I have ever seen. It is impossible to narrow it down to 5 movies, but it certainly does provoke a lot of thought and conversation.
  5. I didn't want to be the first to say it, but my guilty pleasure movie is without a doubt Talladega Nights. It doesn't matter if I just finished watching it, if it comes on again I have to sit and watch it again. I laugh every time. And I saw Major League mentioned, Bob Euker made that movie! His one liners are hilarious.
  6. Aahh! I forgot Unforgiven!
  7. If I were to be completely honest, I would have to say that I have never stopped and tried to compile a list of my favorite movies. Now that I have spent a few minutes tossing this around, I'm going to have to agree with you on a few of those. American Sniper - I remeember when this movie was over, the theater had an almost uncomfortable silence. Nobody knew whether to stand up and salute, or cry, or applaud, are any combination of those. A Few Good Men Saving Private Ryan The Sixth Sense Tombstone Grand Toreno The Shawshank Redemption The green Mile Se7en and just incase my wife is reading this..... The Notebook. I would have listed The Passion of the Christ, but I thought the book was better!
  8. I certainly appreciate the offer, and I may just take you up on it. Between family and friends I usually have a waiting list to go, but last weekend I found myself running solo one day. If I encounter that again I will give you a shout. Thanks again.
  9. They were all good healthy crappie, I only had to measure a few of them. 90% females, but eggs are still quite a ways off. Sac River Jim- If you were fishing that cove, you can see the water that everyone one of these came from.
  10. I would have to say that I use this forum mostly to gauge the bite. I live dead in the middle between Stockton and Table rock, its almost an hour to which ever one I want to fish. I like to know that a few folks have been catching something before I spend my one day off per week buring gas and money on an exploratory mission. I am truly envious of those who live closer, and/or have more time to devote to fishing, but I am not there yet. When and if I do catch fish, I make an effort to post about it. I certainly try to provide as much detail as I can without drawing a map to exactly where I was fishing. A big thanks to those who post and maintain this site.
  11. Dont feel bad. I had a buddy I knew was fishing up there, so I texted him when I started catching them. He stopped by and fished the exact water I was fishing, with virtually the same bait, he only brought home 3 keepers. I'll take luck over skill any day.
  12. Yes they are from this year, they were caught this morning. Why do you ask that? My advice if you are going in the morning is to be there at sunup. They have been shutting off for me around 9:30 or 10. I have had my best luck trolling road runners along channel breaks by the mouths of spawning coves. You will see them stacked on the graph, but dont get sucked into trying to stop and fish the school, I havent had any luck doing that. I just keep moving and catch the active ones.
  13. Saw this on KSPR website, looks like a new state record. That's a biggun! http://www.kspr.com/news/local/biggest-fish-ever-caught-in-missouri-reeled-in-at-cape-fair/21051620_31953486
  14. Let's try this again.
  15. Here's a pic of this morning's catch.
  16. The wife and I put in at daylight and fished until a little after 10. Caught a nice mess of crappie and a few whites. Nothing came off the bank, everything we caught was still suspended out in the channel about 10 down.
  17. 54.5 on Turnback this morning at 10:30 when I left.....with a limit of crappie!
  18. James river was virtually impassable today, couldn't even think about getting up on plane. Those darn spoonbillers were everywhere! In all seriousness, it was very muddy and very trashy.
  19. I drug shad raps all morning yesterday and nothing. Thats about as close to a flicker shad as you can get. Everything I caught came off a road runner
  20. 8.5 ft at Galena
  21. CC bridge area was 52 this morning on my graph
  22. I fishing Turnback this morning trolling & casting for whites. Ended up picking up a decent mess of crappie before the north wind shut them down around 10am. Also aught a couple big sow whites, and one channel cat of all things. No walleye, but a good mess of fish for supper. Tried shad raps, sassy shad, rooster tails, but every single fish came off a 1/8 chartruese road runner head with a white auger tail gub. The crappie were suspended over timber along channel edges about 10 foot down. Water temp read 52.
  23. Just a few years back I had a live well pump go bad one late fall fishing trip, when I got home I pulled the cartrige so I could get the correct gph replacement the next time I was at bass pro. Flash forward to early spring, I hooked up the boat and headed out without giving a second thought to the new pump still laying on my work bench. The boat felt a little sluggish coming up leaving the marina, but it still didn't dawn on me what was wrong. I fished for maybe an hour then decided to run to another spot. When I stepped down off the front deck, I saw the miniature fountain of water coming up through the floor drain. Uh oh!. I turned on the bilge and fired up the motor. We plowed through the water trying to get up on plane, my buddy went up to the nose of the boat, I turned right and left back and forth and finally walked it up on plane. We headed straight for the loading ramp and go it loaded back up without incident. I have a 20' Ranger, and the whole time this was going on I was picturing Forest Wood in that old commecial where they cut the sections out of the boat and it still floated. I never really gave it much thought about how close we were to sinking until I clicked on the link in this story. By the way, shortly after that trip, I installed float switched on the bilge pumps.
  24. I learned a lesson on this one. The guy told me the heater core needed replaced, but I have changed a few of them on other vehicles without a problem. I bought the core for $36 and went home to change it out. 2 hours and a few you tube videos later, I learned that the entire dash has to come out to change it! I decided to gracefully bow out and let a pro do it. The mechanic told me those are the worst to get to he has ever seen. My $36 job turned into $500. Other than that, it has proven to be mechanically sound.
  25. All the dirtbags like this guy and the one who Killed Hayley Owen last year in Springfield should be castrated on pay per view, then fed back to them for their last meal before they are shot in the head. Give all the proceeds to the family of the victom. As a father myself, I cannot fathom what that kind of loss would feel like. There are no words to describe that kind of rage.
