I've never messed with any of the private places at West. Honestly never thought about paying money to finish LOL I bet some of them are pretty awesome though! Had a ball on 11 Mile and spinney Mountain Reservoirs -and the "dream stream" between them. Other than that, I've only fished some high mountain lakes and streams. These rivers we have, with the volume of water, habitat, and regulations, have created a trout fishermans paradise. Last Summer, fishing near Jackson Wyoming, I met a man from Utah. Even folks out there have heard of the famous White River LOL PS: Trout out west are pretty stupid for a zig jig LOL

On this trip, my wife and I decided to learn new water. We fished everywhere! From the Norfork, to Buffalo City, the ranchettes, below Cotter, and the upper stretches of the white, we got on great fish! We fish my preferred method, 2 lb test and jigs. That being said, we saw people catching them all sorts of different ways. Talked to lots of different folks and even tried to help a guide get his clients on a 10 lb Brown that I had spooked. So proud of our river system here in Northern Arkansas. Ps: fish total 335 ( not bad since my wife decided to sunbathe about a half the trip LOL)

What strikes me about the White River, and then Norfork for that matter, is they rea truly world-class streams. I fished Colorado recently. With the exception of a few reservoirs, it's hard to get too excited. Spinnu mountain or 11 Mile Reservoir hold great fish, other than that, the only real reason to go fish somewhere out west is to get away from the whine of a 40 Merc jet. Since I happen to own a Mercury jet, I don't mind the noise LOL

After being away from the river for several months, finally got a chance to do some fishing. Good news is, there are still fish in the river LOL . My wife and I fished the last 3 days and we're able to luck into a good fish each day.

Maybe he's talking about over revving when the motor cavitates. My 40/30 yamaha will cavitates sometimes running up a big shoal. Choppy water makes the tunnel dump a bit. Granted, this is only in extreme conditions. However, it did it running out of the catch and release on norfork twice last weekend...

I've caught walleye in the past below bull shoals dam and caught one in the trophy area at taneycomo a few weeks ago. I'll bet a few are in the catch and release after that big water.

3 of us fished out of White Hole friday the 25th. It was a fantastic day of fishing. Broke off a 5-6lb brown -my third fish because I was using a jig I'd tied on 3 weeks previously on another fishing trip. Being the first one to wet a hook cost me... anyway, fished from the island above Gaston's down to Fulton's place hitting my favorite streches. Managed to boat 4 or 5 browns over 18, but the largest was a 19 1/4. Decided to try for numbers instead of a big boy just for kicks. Our 3 man tally hit 201 on the clicker. The water was somewhere around 5 units and absolutely perfect. It's time to hit the river! Wish I could say a specific spot or technique, but we really just caught em everywhere -middle, banks, shoals. Get close to the bottom and it was a hookup. Only spot that wasn't productive was the island area below futons above wildcat.

Phil, forgot to tell you the crappie are stacked up around this area as of yesterday. Thought I had a good trout, turned out it was a 1.5lb crappie -the first of 3 on our drift through there.

Boat is an acronym that stands for: Break Out Another Thousand (I love boats) -
It won't take much arm twistin'

I'm unsure. Had business in Conway so decided to make a mini trip out of it with my wife. Had never been there before.
-
Edit: fished Sunday... Also, caught 2 bass by the dam. Must have been lost

Fished about 2 hours on Saturday with my wife. Started up by the dam and the fish were hammering a white jig. Drifted down a couple miles and the bite slacked off the further we got from the dam. Never saw any shad, but the fish acted like they were keyed in on them (white jig). Caught 25ish. Wife caught 4. Told her I had a misspent youth...

Fished Taneycomo Saturday with a friend who is about to get married. What's better for a batchelor party than a fishing trip! 2 boats with 3 fishermen each. Got on the water late and spent some time showing the fellas how to jig fish. Didn't start fishing until around noon but stayed on the water until a bit after 5, so got a lot of fishing in. I was running my White River trout boat with a jet prop motor, while the other guys were in a duck boat. The shallow running ability of my rig let us venture far into the trophy area and greatly increased our catch. Fishing the lower trophy area (below the overlook) our 2nd boat managed to land somewhere just over 100 fish. they targeted the deeper bank and fished 1/16 zig jigs and swing oil jigs. Color didn't seem to matter. Greens, tans, black, even white caught fish. My boat ventured farther up river -all the way to just below the rear hole. The bite was hot! Again, color didn't seem to matter. Fishing deeper holes slowly resulted in many doubles and tripples. Swimming a jig over shallow flats often lead to followers, but the bites were tougher to come by. Trophy run hole and the deep water just below the upper ramp were loaded with fish. The only advice I really have to give is focus on the obvious water -deeper runs, below drop offs, and structure are the areas to fush. When they ran a unit of water (about an hour) we motored up to the dam and saw the size of our catch improve. We stll caught dinks, but had many really pretty, larger fish along with them. When we decided to head in my clicker read 265. Two of us fished the white out of wildcat shoals for a few hours the day before, catching 52 fish. I was a little bummed to be leaving there (my fovorite water). Turned out I should have just headed steaight to Branson, Taney is on fire!

They deserved a chance to re-lick their calf, so to speak, I'd say. Everyone screws uP -show me someone without fault. Now, if they gave you a hard time after showing em the error they made... -
Thanks Pete, awesome of you! Yes, he got the parts and was back on the water the following morning

Big Brown Caught and Released (video) 2012
JamiePatterson replied to Phil Lilley's topic in White River
I visited with Carl Jones before, wait for it... Brostock on Bull Shoals. Seemed like a nice fella. What an awesome fish! Ps: Would have rather been on the river than watching skater-dudes wake board lol. -
Whoever gave my bro-in-law a tow back to the boat ramp today, thank you! He called and told me he had boat trouble and someone helped him out. Good folks

Yes, yes, should have been more clear. We certainly didn't keep any trout above the catch and release line. No law breaking going on here
