  1. Watched the FLW launch this morning. Water came up about a foot farther on shore from 5:30-6:30. Fishing dock ramp is under water. Beautiful calm morning, 41 degrees. They should do well today.
  2. Wow! That is one great evening. Interesting they could see the spook with the wind. Topwater = Awesome!
  3. Had my buds from Chicago over the weekend and naturally the weather shifted back to early spring.....but in the wind & rain on Saturday we caught around 20 bass, mixed, a couple big crappies and a 22" walleye. Certainly better than I expected. Sunday was beautiful but we struck out on Stripers pulling brooders. A couple bass pulled the bait off but none in the boat. WT on Saturday was 61-62, and about the same on Sunday. Lots of FLW guys out on Sunday. Peace.

    Wet & windy

Got out late and missed the whites. Wind came up and I tried SB on points with no love. Decided to call it a morning and went to PC for gas. On the way in I saw some small shad jumping between dock on the lee shore. Boom! 1st cast about 21/2 lbr. using a white swimbait. Next 45 minutes, caught 9 with 4 keepers around and between 4 docks. They were really inhaling the bait deep. Not tight to shore, 8-12 fow. When they were done they were done. WT65-66
  6. Stump, did you keep any whites to eat? I caught a few today and was surprised to find the females still full of eggs. I sure would have thought they spawned by now. Another strange thing, I caught a nice eye, just shy of 18". Strange thing was I caught him on a crappie jig in 3' of water at 11am. What's he doing' there? WT everywhere was 62-64.
  7. I hear ya Stump. I sure wasn't defending them. I missed the part of the guy coming from the store. Spot light was certainly overkill. I only go there for gas cause its the closest for me. Did you see the new pavilion they built on the point. Guess they are rushing to get it done by the FLW week.
  8. Good for you Thumbs. Just in time for the best.
  9. Out for a couple hours Tuesday morn. Caught 3 bass scattered in PC on Road Runners. 2 spots and a nice 18" LM. Wt 58-60. All around dock corners on windy side. Nothing shallow on banks. No love for Ned last 3 trips. Several boats in and out of PC. No striper boats today. Several Osprey with fish. Drifted down middle for quite awhile working on a major league backlash and saw zero bait, zero surface activity.
  10. When I first moved here,4 yrs ago, I didn't know about the PC rules. I was just idleing around the docks, not casting, as I was still considering getting on their waiting list for a slip. A fella gave me the "no fishing" speech while sitting on a lawn chair. i've found the marina people to be helpful and friendly. The slip owners not so much. I guess they would really get hammered by fisherman if they had no rules. When I get gas or go to the restaurant there always seem to be tons of fish in the marina, bait anyway. No rules in Illinois or Wisconsin. There many slip/dock owners put out cable or chains to snag your lures. I guess I'd hate to have my boat peppered by lures but most fisherman are pretty careful. A few bad eggs can spoil it for all. I'm not really sure if it is a real "law". Why would the PC marinas have different laws than any other floating dock. But I fish for fun. Don't need anyone ragging on me while I fish. Peace. Stump don't let the turkeys get to ya.

    PC 4/4

Great story about the "overboard" Stump glad you got em' back. Fish will be there another day. No use risking getting fried by lightning. I was in pc in the morning. No quality, a couple 10" spots. Saw several striper boats in front and into the No wake area.
  12. Took the wife for a boat ride up to Hickory Creek marina. Water was chocolate. On the way back, I noticed after every bend in the lake, the water cleared some. By the time back to Rt. 12 bridge you would think it was a different lake. Keep rockin' em Lance, can't find any yet in mid-lake. Your Cardinals and my boys start it again tomorrow night. Spring is officially here! Go Cubs!
  13. Started late today, 9:30, with a bucket of crappie minnows. 90 minutes later gave it up and went bass fishing. 11 bass, all LM with 8 keepers including a 5# beauty. Plus a bonus 21" walleye. All caught in 2 hours. Sun came out, breeze died and so did the bite. Ned, RC and underspin did the trick. None caught on banks, all 12-15 fow. Wt 54-56 Can't wait for April. Oh, several of the bass had partners following.

    Tough morning

Beautiful day out between rain days. Cloudy morning with stiff NE breeze. 3 hours with 2 16" LM, both on underspins in 15-20 fow. Banks seemed empty. Quite a few guys out, didn't see a bite. Wt 54-58. Lots of junk along the shore. As always, watch for floaters in the open. Dodged a few between islands. Couple of striper boats around 12 bridge and PC/Avoca. Main lake was pretty clear, PC and all points muddy. Go get em".
  15. Good point champ. I put in my own concoction of Merc additives but it is a concern. I wrote off the slow sales day to the pouring rain but do worry about it. Thanks for the "heads up".
  16. Okay, tank filled. Done ranting. I do find it interesting that with so many filled boat slips in PC and Horseshoe combined, I almost never see anyone getting gas at either marina. PC can get busy on summer weekends but mostly for the restaurant. In 3 years I've never had to wait in line to get gas, never. Really terrific and I hope everyone appreciates this fantastic resource. In northern Illinois, it would be rare not to have to circle around in a bay waiting for your turn to get gas. To further my point, I filled up at Horseshoe today around noon. They opened at 9 and were closing at 3. I was their 1st gas customer... at Noon! All future reports will not mention my fuel adventures, promise.
  17. Really nice bass! Atta boy!!
  18. A couple of my dock mates & I looked into something like this when gas in town was over $2 per gallon less than the marinas. Our dock insurance would not cover it and the COE would not allow it. I'm really just po'd at myself for getting down to 1/8 of a tank. As they say "this too shall pass".
  19. Just frustrated J-Doc. Wanted to hit it at dawn tomorrow but winter hours are open at 9AM. (if they open)Thats why today was important. I'll never go below half tank again. You would think I'd learn after many Monday or Tuesday fruitless attempts last year.
  20. Dave, as a pretty new Ned guy, I'm just saying thanks for all your guidance. Been doing well on Beaver this winter/spring.
  21. Blessed to live here and love Beaver Lake. That said, I do not understand the lack of certain amenities. I trailered my boat for 40 years and when I moved here we bought a slip. I can walk out my door and be fishing in 10 minutes. Great, right? But my boat needs to have a reliable source for fuel. Went to get gas today. I know everyones winter hours by heart. Went to PC and don't mind their prices for top grade marine fuel. Fella came out as I tied up and said they have no gas, changing tanks, until Monday or Tuesday. Wow, isn't there a pretty big tourney this weekend? There sure were several wrapped boats out today. Didn't they have all winter? Oh well, Horseshoe is only 20 minutes away. Called and called, got the winter hours message but no one there. I don't get it. Yes, i can use a gas can but that 100 yard walk over uneven ground with 45#'s of gas can is not for me. Plus 5 gallons does not get me too far. OK I'm done. On a fishing report, I drifted past the marina and threw ned for awhile. The most nuts 30 minutes I've had on Beaver. 8 LM, all 15-17" on Ned. Windy points, not too shallow. Half the bites were on the fall. WT 56. Had an appointment so in I came. Hope Horseshoe is open tomorrow.
  22. Prayer warriors in action. Best wishes.

    Windy Sunday

Walked down to the dock with calm conditions. In the next few minutes Miria woke up and blew all day. Stubbornly worked ned in not the best conditions. Scrounged up 2 nice smallies and a LM on windy points, together around 8 lbs. 2 shorts rounded out the day. WT 50-56. Should have put on some sunblock.
  24. Well Lance, reading your posts finally got my butt up around War Eagle and tried spider rigs on Friday. Two of us caught 40 with 20 eaters. thanks for your posts.
  25. RPS, that really sucks! Sorry for your loss. We got robbed last year over the July 4th weekend. Luckily my insurance from Boat U.S. had a tackle rider and I was made whole with no deductible. I guess the only upside is you'll be loaded with the newest stuff.
