Beautiful fish man! I've been wanting to fish so bad but with the new job its been tough to find the time! Thanks for the report and pics brother.
-
those are some great pics jtram. I love to fish the smaller creeks and streams.
-
Thanks for the report man! That creek sure looks pretty. I see a couple decent fish in those pics as well!

Creek smallies are a great time! That's the kind of fishing i usually wind up doing. We need to hit a few of those we talked about a couple months ago! some good looking fish man! thanks for the report and pics!

That's exactly what you need to do! Just keep sharing pics of all those 18'-20'+ fish.

sounds like another day in paradise! Awesome fish man! Thanks for the report...im jealous.
-
I'm guessing the bite was similar to how it was when me and Hog went a couple weeks ago. That's some great fish man! Its a beautiful day to be out. Thanks for the report and pics!

Watch it...once you go smallmouth that's it....everything changes haha. After awhile that's all you want to go catch.

I haven't caught any like that from mineral fork. Sounds like maybe a round worm infection. That's pretty common but you don't usually see them in the mouth. On the other hand it could be the little guys meal too.

That is one of the coolest pictures I've seen on here. Almost reminds of something you'd see in a lord of the Rings or hobbit movie. Could just be my inner nerd coming out.

Welcome to the forums! I hope the jet gets you on to the rivers plenty! i look forward to reading some reports and seeing some fish pics.

yeah i believe all of that as sad as it is. I don't fish any of the streams without someone with me . I'd ran into a couple unsavory fellows while wading mineral fork near the old rivermont grounds. They were a long the banks in some brush and when they saw me and stepped out they didn't have a bit of fishing gear with them. I guess that coupled with all the white power neck tattoos told me they weren't good people lol I could tell they didn't want me there and were eyeballing me hard so i just nonchalantly shifted my fishing pack so they could see i was armed and that's about all it took. I just left and went home after the incident. Not sure what they were doing...maybe i interrupted a date or something.

Thanks for all the info flysmallie. I'd never heard of readington until just now so I'll be sure to check them out. I figured something 7-8wt would be good but other then that I'm in dark when it comes to fly rods so I'll be doing plenty of research.
-
I've had a few issues there myself. I'm usually armed. Hope I never would have to use it over something as simple as fishing the wrong area.
-
It would be my first fly rod ever...so a huge change for me. I think mineral fork would be a good place to start with a new flyrod. Wouldn't mind getting back to trout fishing every now and then if i had one.

That's a good looking fish my friend! I've never got into fly fishing but would love too. I almost pulled the trigger on a sage BASS II smallmouth fly rod last summer but decided against it at the last minuet....now i don't have the cash for it lol. You're right on it being pressured. as you go further up from the access you'll see a house or two on the hill and those residents frequent the stream (cant blame them) The one good thing is that most of the locals fish very particular sets of lures....lures that i don't pay any mind to for that very reason. Glad you had a good time out there. Maybe ill run into you sometime. Seems like i'm there at least twice a week after the spawn is over. I have a few different sections i hit to keep it interesting and take pressure off the previous area. I'm hoping to be out near the old rivermont grounds soon and get a good look at how its changed since our high water in December. It's a shame that rivermont is no more. It used to provide at least some half way safe parking for people whole wanted to float and fish or even people who just liked to wade for the day. Thanks for the report and pictures man. I hope my brief walk through was of some help for you.

Great! Give us a report on how it goes!

sounds perfect! Ol smalliebigs got me into dawg baits and i now find myself in possession of a few dog x and evergreen JT 95'S..even a few pop x max......needless to say i'm ready to learn how to use those dawg baits.

just got to check out the section near kingston access. I parked there and waded up about 3 tenths of a mile or so( was pressed for time). The section of beach right off the trail hasn't changed a great deal from last year but is a bit deeper. going up stream from there the channel is split pretty evenly by a gravel bar. past that gravel bar it looks like the main channel has widened out a fair bit. The high water had washed away some of the high mud bank on your right side(when going up stream). That side always had deeper water and that's still the case....I'd say its even deeper now and has that nice green/blue tint to it. The left side of the stream in that portion has a fair bit of large rock and is a big hill side...not much has changed on that side of the stream at all besides a bit of new gravel on the bottom.

I enjoy goggle eye too! not much fight to them but they are tasty indeed and seem to be plentiful. I had to sharpen that picture up a bit...the camera it was taken on wasn't the greatest but i'm glad it turned out good! The stream looks pretty healthy this year that's for sure.

Falcon rods are top notch and made in the U.S. I like the Diawa Tatula baitcasting reels but Lews are always a good value. You can find Tatula's marked down a good bit on Ebay and they're brand new. I believe you can find Lews the same way. Don't overlook St.Croix on the rods. The Avid is a great rod and i have several of them.

Oh yeah that's right! Exciting man! i went through that for the very first time about 19 months ago.....was scared to death but it was also the most amazing thing to ever happen to me and my wife.

My uncle was attacked by a squirrel once. Whats so funny about the whole thing is he is a very big man. He's about 6'4 and 250lbs and has 2 golden gloves in boxing. The story i'd heard from him and my mom was that he was walking back from the laundry area in the apartment complex he was living in and had his laundry basket full of clothes when he came upon a squirrel on the side walk. He says he tried to walk around it but it jumped on his leg. Clothes go flying out of the basket and the fight was on at that point. I believe the squirrel won.

Several years ago i was on orders to train some reserve soldiers at a small army post called Ft. Hunter Ligget. It's a fairly remote post up in the hills and is about right in the middle of California. When we arrived we got the typical Army safety brief which always has a portion about not messing with the wildlife in the area...needless to say that brief went right out the window for a few guys. While out at one of the shoot houses one of the NCO'S spots a rattle snake of some kind and decides to accidentally park a HMMV on its body and beat it with his rifle. This particular fellow was a big time country boy and decides he's going to eat it. So he starts going around collecting salt and pepper packets from everyone's MRE's and the cooks it and eats it at one of the BBQ pits. Next thing you know our CO finds out and he gets Articled for it. Lucky for him he didn't loss any rank but did have to give up some pay over the whole ordeal and placed on several unsavory tasks for the remainder or our three months there (this happened about two days into the whole event)
