  1. Well done sir! Hopefully this thread produces like the last one! You catch any smallmouth on the dam?
  2. I'm sure Memorial Day weekend will wake them up! haha
  3. As a recreational fisherman who has fished LOZ his whole life, the idea of paying $45 / year to obtain fishing information and reports seems silly to me. However I'm probably not the target demographic. If Bassin' Bob is successfully capitalizing on a market willing to fork over the $$$ and is passionate about what he's doing, then good for him! My only gripe is the billboard he put up on scenic 50 Highway. As if there weren't enough to stare at already!
  4. Considering the PBJ Ned has become the staple bait down at the Rock! I can't think of a fish that thing won't catch. I'm with you Bitethis, any time there's some color in the water chart is a safe bet. Especially when smallies are in the equation
  5. I figured, just wanted to know what to have tied on just in case never wanna miss out on a squarebill bite if they're spankin' em!
  6. Thanks for all the feedback guys, and for mentioning good colors. It's crazy how much they vary from lake to lake. Seems like I've heard purple get mentioned a lot as a good color down there.
  7. Similar to the "if you could carry only 5 soft plastics on Stockton" thread another gentleman started, what would be your guys' list of Summer hardbaits for this lake? I've only fished it a few times and will be down with some family in June. I spend most of my time fishing LOZ, didn't know if there would be much variation between the two. Big worms are usually the summertime ticket on LOZ. So far I'm thinking: 1. 1/2 oz pop max popper 2. One-knocker spook 3. 1/2 oz silent xcalibur squarebill 4. War Eagle gold/silver double willow spinnerbait 5. War Eagle finesse spinnerbait
  8. Too funny! I'm sure it was a hot August afternoon and he was just trying to cool them off In my younger years a man in what was then Big Thunder cove took it upon himself to personally warn me against doing donuts on my wave runner in front of his place, despite the fact I was well outside of the no-wake buoys. He proceeded to chase me down on his wave runner when I was on my way home, and literally collided with me (I think in his blind rage he forgot wave runners didn't have brakes at the time). Mind you I was probably 14 and he looked to be at least 50. I knew that what I was doing was bothering him, but causing no harm whatsoever. I thought it was hilarious then, and I think it's hilarious now when people take it upon themselves to interfere with the harmless fun of others with reckless abandon. Looking forward to another summer
  9. That's hilarious Goggle-Eyed, and pretty clever! Unlike some other people trying to booby-trap their own dock in an effort to hinder another man's day on the water... what a waste of time! hah.
  10. I was being sarcastic... I knew you didn't mean it that way. I was poking fun at anybody that thought you did mean it that way.
  11. While I agree it's probably not the best bass day in the history of Lake of The Ozarks, let's not take ourselves too seriously here. It's not about the fish, it's about the memories, and it sounds like you and your brother made a few. Nice report Teddy!
  12. Thanks man! She was just under 5 lbs and released safely back to her bed, very rewarding. It seems like it's getting harder and harder to catch quality bass like that at LOZ, at least on my part of the lake.
  13. Got in a bit of fishing down at the family cabin on 7mm Friday and spent all of Saturday cleaning the tritoon for another summer of debauchery. Got down Thursday night, to my surprise the water was STILL gin clear and caught a bunch of dink largemouths and a bass sized slab walking the dog just under the surface with the Ned. First time I've fished it that way and it can walk it under the surface surprisingly well. Friday was awesome. Spotted a bedding male and female in the morning, caught the male pretty easily on a shaky worm but the female just wasn't interested. Proceeded to throw a wacky stiko, pit boss, and even a live minnow in front of her face and she wouldn't bite. Oh well. Got into some spots pretty well on the shaky and made for a fun afternoon. Came back in the early evening and wham! She figured she was ready to eat the shaky worm. Rounded off Friday night catching 10+ slabs from the dock, nothing under 12". Heaven.
  14. Let me know what you find out, may help explain my profile pic
  15. Just so I know which dead ringer you're referring to, you're talking about the one with the smaller curly tail? The big dead ringer is my favorite night time bait down there
  16. small world Old Plug, I turn off O at Lakewood Dr. maybe I'll see you around next time I'm down.
  17. Good morning fellas, this is my first post after keeping up with the forum for a while. Quick history on me, I pretty much learned to walk on the banks of North Buck Creek cove with a Zebco 33 in hand and the rest is history. I've had family there my whole life, and I've been very fortunate to call it my home away from home. Here's my report from this past Friday, when only had a few hours to fish. Water clarity in North Buck Creek was as close to gin-clear as it's ever been. Caught numbers of largemouth shallow on a GP jig/chunk trailer pretty easily, not much size though. Changed gears once the boating activity picked up in the afternoon and moved back into a shallow protected cove looking for live water. Found 15-20 bluegill suspended just below the surface of an empty shaded slip. Skipped a wacky rigged 5" GP stick worm in there and caught a 2# largemouth, and an 18" post spawn walleye. As old plug said, any week now things should blow wide open.
