  1. You bite your tongue, I had some banner days with the banjo minnow on LOZ as a kid!
  2. that was quick dtrs5kprs, give me a minute to grab some popcorn... to add fuel to the fire, it's the perrenial hot bait at my favorite eastern kansas reservoir where it's common to see 12' water clarity. it produces countless smallmouth, ranging in size from inches to the 5 pounder in my avatar (although that specific fish was NOT caught on the ned )
  3. I must be missing something... I've yet to hear somebody ever tout the ned rig as a silver bullet. If anything it's just something to throw in the title of a thread on Ozark Anglers to get a bunch of opinionated anglers riled up.
  4. Get those slobs out of those piles!
  5. Easy man, I was referring to the guy that started the thread. Im not one to get up in arms about stuff like this. That being said I'm washing my hands and walking away from this one. Cheers.
  6. Funny you mention that, this sounds like the type of thread to come from somebody who's been known to troll people that favor the Ned rig. Oh wait...
  7. I agree, and I'm surprised Phil hasn't closed this one out already. But did anybody expect anything worthwhile to come from this thread to begin with?
  8. how about those royals
  9. Did you have any specific direction in mind before you started this thread? Don't get me wrong, the drama you guys stir up is must see TV but how about more fishing results and less BS...
  10. Troll, troll, troll your boat. You're entitled to your own opinion, but savvy fishermen know better than believing that big baits always = big fish.
  11. Good thing he threw a ned rig instead of a beetle grub without a spinner... ...and GO!
  12. I was just about to echo what fishinwrench said about the catfish, if you cut it they will come lol
  13. Glad to see you're still busting em! That toad come trolling?
  14. It'll also catch everything under the sun that's biting. I only fish braid to fluoro leader with a ned rig. 10 lb braid to 6 lb fluoro seems to be good enough, but I know some guys will scale down to 4 lb.
  15. The more you work it the less success you will likely have. Kind of weird to get used to, but it's seriously a do-little-to-nothing bait when conditions call to throw it. Last time I was down our biggest fish came dead sticking it. The rest came just slow retrieving, imparting little to no action with the rod. Also pay no attention to anybody talking about using a senko or claiming it's the same thing as a beetle. If you're not using elaztech, you're not using a ned rig. The elaztech is where the action comes from, it is buoyant and the more fish you catch with it the softer it gets. It wiggles around and floats up without you needing to do anything at all. Troll, troll, troll your boat Walcrabass
  16. Mike - Can't thank you enough for the time on the water. My brother and I won't soon forget it. For anybody here that hasn't had the pleasure of meeting Mike, he's a standup guy and a hell of a fisherman. Hopefully this weekend wasnt the last time we get to fish together Also met a 30 pound blue later that night but she didn't seem as happy to meet me
  17. Wait... late Spring? Is that you?
  18. I've been thinking jerkbait ever since I saw the forecasted cold front...
  19. Did you catch em that night or during the day?
  20. I wouldn't show up without white, but anything shad colored should put em in the boat. I had luck on white and war eagle's spot remover color last may. White grubs also worked well. Super jealous of you guys down there right now, I was down a few weeks ago during that big cold front and they hadn't moved on to the spinnerbait yet... I've NEVER had a fish eat a spinnerbait like they do on Stockton!!
  21. I don't think they're anywhere near spawned out yet. The bank bite should be picking up as we speak and getting better over the next few weeks I'd expect.
  22. Anybody care to share what the bite's been like around 7mm? I'll be down this weekend as a last ditch effort to add some fillets to the freezer before memorial day weekend. Much appreciated. I'll post results.
  23. be prepared to fish beds, that's all I can say.
