  1. I was just wondering about any rules for fireworks at Lake of the Ozarks? Also does anyone know of a fireworks display around the 48mm? Does Big Dick's shoot them off? That sounds odd... lol
  2. Oh I know that's the truth. That's why they call it fishing. lol Still had a great time and added some more crappie to the freezer so I am happy.
  3. Well only managed to hit the 7lb mark this trip. Guess you can't catch a monster every trip.
  4. I will check that out this weekend. I know there is a spot around the 50 that is shallow way out in the middle of the lake and then drops off to like 50' on the south side of the channel. It is just before the lake turns and heads to the north.
  5. You don't happen to know of any coves right around the 48mm that are spring fed do yah? Not that that cove is to far but my boat is slow so if I had a closer option that would be good. lol But I will make a trip to that cove soon. Does it hold much bait fish in the back of the cove normally?
  6. Now that does sound promising, Thanks for the info!
  7. Yeah that sounds just about like me. I just ask if anyone want to go fish that cove over there..... Yeah you know, that one.
  8. Now if only I knew the names of the coves around me. lol No clue where Alcorn Hollow is.
  9. May have to go try my luck over there for a while. It is just on the other side of the channel from me.
  10. How many times can I repeat before I have to worry about the machinery is the question. lol Luckily my pontoon is older and doesn't know what the word fast is.
  11. Had my fish cleaning table stolen over the winter. I leave all my stuff on my boat over the summer. I really hope someone doesn't steal all my stuff...
  12. Agreed! Looks like fun but pretty sure the water around me would be turning "brown". haha
  13. For the record I drop the weight to the bottom with a santee rig to keep my bait 1' to 1 1/2' off the bottom and let the weight drag. Sound good or any suggestions? I have had luck just mainly wondering or asking what everyone prefers.
  14. My depth finder is older than I am. lol I haven't had anyluck finding fresh shad yet this year but can catch all the perch I need most the time. I tend to cut the tails off and split the gut when drifting during the day. Figured live they would swim and tangle all my lines hanging off the side of the boat? I have poles holders I put all the way down one side of the pontoon and put that side into the wind and let it push me across the lake. Most times 6-8 poles off the side.
  15. Thanks for the info. All I fish now is rod & reel. I made and ran a portable trot line last summer but I just don't eat enough catfish to mess with it. Also is way more fun to reel them in. Haven't been out of catfish in over a year so scrapped the trotline. Sounds like from both our memorial day trips that off the dock may have a good chance at hooking into a big fish. Hell as long as I have some hooks in the water and a beer in my hand I will be happy either way.
  16. Caught the blue off the dock. It is the biggest cat we have caught off the dock ever. Just started using a Santee rig and have had a lot of luck with it. Our dock is in a bit from the main channel but we are the closest dock in the cove to the channel. The end of our dock is about 15' and middle cove towards the channel is about 20-25'. I do have a pontoon and the big flat last year was caught drifting in about 35' early fall. Just wasn't sure if the big boys would be mainly in the deep or most likely to be a little more shallow this time of year?
  17. I am headed to the Ozarks for the weekend. I have fish in the freezer so only going after the big Cats this weekend. Last summer my PB was a 45lb Flat. I am wanting to top the 50 lb mark this year. Last trip our best was a 36" blue. My question is if you were after the big ones this time of year what would be your strategy? Also I am on the Osage arm at the 48mm.
  18. Water was pretty clear considering by where I'm at. "48mm" We caught a big mess of Cats but had to toss back most the blues due to the slot limit. Still had plenty to clean with the weekends best being a 36" Blue. Only had 4 crappie worth keeping but mainly fished for cats this weekend.
  19. Man those are some awesome pics! Thanks for sharing!
  20. I have mainly been going for crappie my last couple trips. I am going down this weekend also and think I will put out the trot line and try to stock up on some catfish. Lets hope they are on and we catch a boat load!!
  21. True but been spending all my extra cash on fishing at the Ozarks. lol
  22. Great pictures! I haven't been out there since I was a kid. I really need to make it back out there sometime soon.
  23. Very nice! I cleaned 21 very healthy crappie this last weekend. We probably caught some where between 50-60 crappie total. All fish were caught in a brush pile in about 10' of water using minnows. Also cleaned 5 catfish to go along with it. Was a great fishing trip with my youngins.
  24. Last friday caught about 40 or so Crappie in the bed under the dock at about the 48mm. Only 15 keepers but most just barely shy of the 9" mark. All the keepers were good size with the biggest checking in at about 13 1/2". My bed sits in water from about 8' out to 14' or so.
  25. Very nice, I am headed to the Ozarks as soon as I get out of work today. Hopefully the bed under the dock will be full of big ones!
