Access is limited (unless you approach by boat) and the shoreline area is slim and with a lot of house which would limit your allowable methods (bow vs. shotgun)...Cow Creek (Cow Creek Hunting Map Link) is probably the biggest chunk of huntable corps land. Otherwise there is Pilot Knob CA, and the Cassville Sections of Mark Twain (look for GIS data for Barry and Stone County for Federal Land/USDA). Don't overlook Bull Shoals South of Forsyth.....more rural, more available land for bow or shotgun hunting turkeys.

Lews Tournament MSB Speed Spool $68
Kayak_Runner replied to BassMaster#1's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
I'll take it. Message me your payment details. I'm local to St. Louis or Springfield if it negates the hassle of shipping. -
I've got the same one. Comfortable kayak, very durable, great budget buy. The rear removable storage pod is a very good floating dry storage pod or an even better beer cooler! Cockpit is wide and easy to enter and exit. I've enjoyed using mine as a shallow water duck boat/shoreline layout blind. Decent float and camp rig if you load it right.

My dad has a complete setup he would like to get rid of. PondProwler from BassPro, seats, trolling motor, battery, charger, clamp on fish/depth finder, no trailer, and it is Titled. Located in Springfield, MO. I'm not sure how much he wants for it, but I'll forward him this link if you want pictures of it.

overhead surveillance video of the stop, including the altercation that led to Mr. Finicum's fatal moments with fed/state LEOs has been released.

Just about the entire Malheur Standoff is occupied by the wrong people claiming to defend the Hammonds from "persecution" by the feds. These guys (The Hammonds) poached deer on federal land, burned the ground to cover it up and characterized their actions as a weed control fire that got out of hand (plus the "backburn" they did in 06, defying a burn ban that was in place for a reason)..... their long standing feud with the gov'ment/BLM is someone crying about not getting their way with something that doesn't belong solely to them. If what they say about the revocation of their grazing permit is true.... that it was arbitrarily done and restricted their water access, then maybe they have a leg to stand on.....but I'm doubtful, they haven't shown anything but contempt for the land for their own use.

Rabbits & game birds (Ducks, dove, quail, pheasants) will always have a soft spot for me. It's just the most fun hunting that I've had (more so than turkey and deer).

....easy you might run the county out of tinfoil.... These guys have been doing this for decades....they have no concept of public ownership of land. I understand that running cattle can be hard requiring upwards of 2 acres per cow/calf pair, but these guys only care about there own problem....they don't care about land in public trust, your right, my right, or anyone else right to that land. They don't care about management of the resource/wildlife for long term use. Could you imagine if you decided to graze cattle next to them on public land.....I'm sure that would turn out well too.... On top of that you have these dick-shine militia morons that see a chance to fight "oppression", and make the move that "I have a gun, I want it this way, anyone that doesn't like it can shoot-it out with me"....give me a break. It's sad that someone lost their life over blind-stupid-stubbornness and a false sense of patriotism, and I hope that it's the end of it and the remaining occupiers go home safely.

Me and two of my buddies went again this past weekend north of St. Louis. Only took 3....should've left with far more, but bad shooting, position, & wiley rabbits got in the way. The 3 we did get gave great shots, full sprint running open ground on snow.

Squirrel cooks up well with the same method.

Been hunting rabbits about every other weekend since December. January has been particularly good. Our last two outings my young brother and me busted 5 one weekend and 7 the other. No dogs, just simple walk and stop, and thrashing brush piles. Finally started cooking some this week for a wild game dinner at the house, Rabbit Hassenpfeffer <- recipe link.

Thanks for the replies I'll look into an 8 wt.

What rod size and line set up are you using for streamers this size? What size hooks are you generally using?
-
If you have trouble stashing the gun or paddling with it in the cockpit, look at Hobie gun mounts they work well.

Has anyone seen ducks moving up down Bull Shoals, specifically Forsyth to K-dock? I've ran into a few pockets of ducks while bass fishing table rock last month but haven't had the opportunity to fish Bull Shoals since last year.

Email sent. Me and my dad would be interested in purchasing a few rods. Thanks -Matt

Ok Tell Me About The Area Around Forsyth

thanks for the update....Bois D'arc was a bust today for me. Heard a few people shooting but the cadence died early in the morning. Talbot seemed to do well until 11AM. I've got one more day to hunt it's either Talbot or I'm throwing darts at the map tomorrow.....maybe stockton.....maybe...

What specifically do you want to know? My main items when I rig mine or help friends with theirs we hang burlap on the boat, place a set of gun mounts (HOBIE Gun Mounts) and a paddle leash (allows you to toss your paddle without fear of losing it. Don't wear waders if your deep or in a river, wear boots you can get out of quickly.

Btw thank you for your replies MoPan.

In normal pool years do they plant the corp land or rely on natural vegetation? I see it's in the list below, but in past years have they provided a map of their plantings for the area if they plant? http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/applications/moatlas/filteredadvancedsearch.aspx?txtActivity=Hunting-Dove I think I will cave and go to Talbot, like I normally do. It's by far one of my favorite areas along with Bois D'arc but their is just so much hunting pressure I generally only have faith in the rabbit season for Talbot..... I'll have my younger brother with me so we'll most likely be off the planted areas away from most people in hopes of shooting stragglers. Maybe the south side wetland near the train tracks.
-
Has anyone had any success with corps areas around Forsyth? I am contemplating abandoning giving something other than Talbot and Bois D'arc a try this year.

Is it a bull barrel? Could you send me a photo through PM?

Costa's, Costa's, Costa's....I used to love Oakley's but the Costa Cortez pair I bought this spring have made a huge difference. Everything pops/looks lit with a subtle amber tone without the stress of the UV rays hitting your eyes and straining you out. 580P lenses are the way to go, they keep the frame light on your face and after a minute you forget your wearing sunglasses until you take them off.

I couldn't think of better way to end someone elses hissy-fit.
