my dad has a Ben Franklin (I will have to check the model now that you have my interest). It is a pump with a single bolt action .22 caliber. It is fun to shoot, not very acturate though. The barrel and pump are all brass (except the wood ribbed pump handle)

Sad... to bad there isn't a way to make the converter stay blazin' hot all the time (just the converter itself )

LASGTA, Somtimes basspro runs their Indian Point outfits for $55 buy you have to call around to specific stores, or find the price on the web (the store will match it if the price is on their site). The kits come with a lower end fly line, 8' 6" 5wt rod (moderate action) and a reel that is identical to the BPS Dogwood Canyon (same design, just different material?), which is a really decent reel for the money. The rod has a decent handle and hardware as well. Just trying to help

Fishinwrench, not sure of the exact spot but it is on the road that takes you down to Ho Humm. I stopped in that same spot one time (I think) to take a leak and found a Buck Lite folding hunter on the ground. I still have it. Not to far from the camp ground if I remember right (it has been a while though)

nothing worse than a burnt end sandwich that is not cooked properly or even worse, full of fat. That has happened to me at Gates in KC a couple of times (otherwise great BBQ). It is just luck of the draw I guess.

I see this alot on holidays at various restaurants, people who act like you are inconveniencing them because they don't want to be working that day in the first place (bad attitude)...the running out of supplies/food I guess is another issue due to a busier time than usual as Phil mentioned, but I don't like being treated like a burden when I am a paying customer. I am a good tipper but I will walk out of a restaurant without paying a tip in a situation like this (for a bad attitude)

good info, thanks I have been thinking of switching back to glasses permanently as my left eye dries out with contacts. I wear the contacts fishing so that I can wear polarized sunglasses. I guess the solution is polarized glasses/clip on set up.

After researching, I did decide that if I ever do go with a pump it will definitely be an 870 without a doubt.

I decided to ease into this hunting thing real slow. After reading about the single shots made by H&R (NEF) I just had to have one so I purchased a 20 gauge Mod single shot 26" (Pardner). It was $90 brand new (Dicks Sporting Goods is the only place I could find it) and made in the USA. I have read numerous forums about these and they are lightweight, dependable, but kick very hard. I haven't shot it yet, but looking forward to it.

The Bass Pro 270 setup is a really good buy at $200. I know some people like to stay away from the big retailers but it is a very nice rod (very fast action though). It is a 3 piece which is not quite as conventient as a 4 piece, but it comes with a rod tube, line, pouch for the reel (the reel will fit two different size spools as well)

Has anyone here purchased/owned a New England Firearms shotgun? I am thinking about getting a hunting license and starting with some upland birds and turkeys (new to hunting completely but I have several experienced friends/hunters to work with). I see these single shot guns at Walmart for $130 and they get decent reviews. I initially planned on a Remington 870 Supermag (28inch barrel) as it seems to be the best gun for the money but that is still in the $400+ range. Any opinions would be helpful Thanks Jason

Not sure if I am referring to the same guide or not but I was pretty much pushed out of the same spot two days in a row by the same guy. I got tired of all the loud talking anyway so I just moved. It is more about being out there and having a good time instead of numbers for me....I'm happy with a few catches They are sadly mistaken when they begin to think they own the water.
