  1. Ive done that on almost every lake i have fished before my first trip on the lake. Great way to narrow down a bite. Same with boat ramps, points, bluffs, etc.
  2. Wrench, heres a little thought for ya: If god is real and you feel as you do, you have wasted an eternity feeling the way you do. If it isnt real, then ive only wasted this lifetime.
  3. good info guys.
  4. for the most part yes. What area of the lake?
  5. Great to see him with fish. Nothing better than seeing kids enjoy fishing. They were choking that frog.

I was surprised to see every spot in the lot full when i got there. That place is usually a ghost town. Sounds like fish were biting for everyone. How did you guys finish?
  7. Like Dutch said, very little change if any at all. We have gotten rain after rain but the lake handled it well. Was just there 10 minutes ago and seen no difference from pre-rain. Go fish and enjoy.
  8. Remember, fish gotta eat, especially now when alot are on a feeding frenzy feeding up after the spawn. Get out if you can, because fighting them from the couch isnt the same.
  9. Yes. Tournaments have nothing to do with it. Yes he took time out of the derby, but it comes down to being a human with a heart.

Gravel/fist sized rock banks, but i fished some pea gravel banks also that produced as well. The fish are pretty scattered and can be caught alot of areas. Those 30 degree banks seem to be my most productive. Secondary pount have been the ticket. Most fish caught are in less than 6'.
  11. Wow, was the Masters lot full!! Launched at 6:30. Ran about 45 seconds and started with the same texas rigged worm as the other evening. Had 3 fish on the first 10 casts, 2 being 16" keepers. Continued down that 75 yard stretch for just over an hour and had 17 fish boated and lost 4, with one in the 5 pound range. Silly to say, but got bored so i went with the proven 3 1/2" green pumpkin tube with 1/4 ounce tube hook. Caught 6 fish pretty quick on that. Bored again, and as the wind picked up i tied on an underspin with a 5" swimbait and 2nd cast caught the first of several fish on it within 40 yards. Total was 35 bass, 1/2 keepers and off the water after 3 hours. Just one of those mornings that im blessed to enjoy. Non-fisher people wouldnt understand what that feels like. Lots of boats out. Small rain shower came thru for 30 seconds. Most of the fish were in 3' of water, with a few worm fish out to 12'.
  12. Cool picture. As i sat here most of the day, either staring out the window towards the lake, or out doing chores between the several storms we've had today, i kept thinking i hope those on the water are safe because a couple of the storms were brutal.

Fish will be waiting for ya skeeter. Especially if you tie on a worm. Those guys by the ramp today were throwing a red shad 7" worm catching what they did.
  14. Whos that Drew Benton guy? He put a hurtin' on em' today.

Fishing is great on this lake. When i launched there were 2 guys fishing the point next to the ramp. When i returned 3 hours later they were still in the same spot. Speaking with them, they are down from St. Louis fishing in one of the tourneys going on. Father/son team. They had 5 fish in the boat, and said they had over 30 since i launched. I mentioned my honey hole to them, and as they pulled out a paper map of the lake, i gave them the location of were i fish alot. Those fish are stacked on the stretch like ive never seen. They were headed there as i pulled away. Its raining pretty hard out now, so im glad my son-in-law needed my truck, or i would still be out there catching fish and getting wet.

Thats 3 1/2" green pumpkin tube is my go to secret bait. Done well with it for years.
  20. This is from Ike last year. Hes still a fan of this bait. Ive been tempted to pick some up once i use the 300 bags of soft plastics i have now.

Thanks guys. Hunter, yes seen lots of beds with males on or near every one. Redshad: You are very welcome, and thank you for the kind words. Im not one of those that wants to keep anything secret. I share info in hopes someone else will get to catch fish also. I just love to fish, and share what knowledge i gain every trip out. Sounds like you guys had a fantastic day as well. Love the old roadbeds. We troll flicker shads alot over them and get hammered. unimog: Nice picture. I stuck to what i knew would get bit. I almost put on a lizard, and will do so tomorrow evening. Randy: Ive also fished a texas rigged worm/lizard most of my life. Born in Texas and cutting my teeth on Texoma and Fork, it was a bait that always produced, and still does. I just love fishing it when the water is slick. Nothing like seeing that line going sideways as soon as it hits the water. I have caught hundreds of bass on Tablerock with it. I fish green pumpkin most of the time.
  22. Decided to try out the evening bite today, instead of morning. Started off at 4:30 out of Masters. Water was pretty slick. Ran up a cove near the dam throwing the same underspin/swimbait for the first hour with only one 14" fish. Already had a Ned tied on so cast that around for 30 minutes catching two 10" fish. Made a run back to the island by Masters and fished about 1/2 way around the west side without a bite. It was a out 6:15 now and i motored over near the dock to trailer my boat. Decided to change up baits first, so tied on my favorite bait of any, a texas rigged worm. Started off at the ramp, throwing basically onto the rocks on shore. 1st cast produced a hard fighting 15" smallie. Continued north on the ramp side shoreline. Fished about a 50 yard stretch catching 4 more, all around 14". Put the trolling motor on high and skipped across the cove just across from the ramp. Kept the boat about 50' off shore and fan cast as close to that flooded bushes as i could get. The first 3 casts i landed 2 smallies and a LM. Continued fishing that bank towards the island. Within 150 yards i landed 19 more fish, with 9 of those being keepers. Biggest was a 3 pounder pictured that still had eggs. Every fish i caught was shallower than 2'. Man i love a worm bite when the water is that slick. Great evening and beautiful outdoors.
  23. manliness has as much to do with tournament fishing as you putting your panties on in the morning. Didnt see in the original post anything about tournaments. You anti-findabetterway-savemylake protesters go find you another topic to spill your guts on. Gets as old as seeing the same deer out front each morning.
  24. Hes turning into a "protect the bass" kind of guy. MoBass will be his new handle.
