Decided to try out the evening bite today, instead of morning. Started off at 4:30 out of Masters. Water was pretty slick. Ran up a cove near the dam throwing the same underspin/swimbait for the first hour with only one 14" fish. Already had a Ned tied on so cast that around for 30 minutes catching two 10" fish. Made a run back to the island by Masters and fished about 1/2 way around the west side without a bite. It was a out 6:15 now and i motored over near the dock to trailer my boat. Decided to change up baits first, so tied on my favorite bait of any, a texas rigged worm. Started off at the ramp, throwing basically onto the rocks on shore. 1st cast produced a hard fighting 15" smallie. Continued north on the ramp side shoreline. Fished about a 50 yard stretch catching 4 more, all around 14". Put the trolling motor on high and skipped across the cove just across from the ramp. Kept the boat about 50' off shore and fan cast as close to that flooded bushes as i could get. The first 3 casts i landed 2 smallies and a LM. Continued fishing that bank towards the island. Within 150 yards i landed 19 more fish, with 9 of those being keepers. Biggest was a 3 pounder pictured that still had eggs. Every fish i caught was shallower than 2'. Man i love a worm bite when the water is that slick. Great evening and beautiful outdoors. This post has been promoted to an article
  2. I get mine at Academy. The underspin and swimbaits. Heres a few pictures of it.
  3. Im all for a 3 year study were MDC donates unlimited number of tags, and every bass caught that is to be released, gets a tag. If a guy keeps a tagged fish, report that it was caught again, and pan dipped. Would be an eye opener.
  4. Nice report and fish. Sounds like the weather played somewhat of a reason you didnt fill your boat. I live on this lake and fish it often, and have way worse days than you at times.
  5. Well i turned my Mega100,000,000 fan your direction. The instructions say it keepmoisture confined within the strom until the fan is unplugged. Well, i did the calculations and unplugged it just as it got to your neighbors. Sorry but i was off 200 yards.
  6. small percentage
  7. or Carp
  8. Im on the tail end of it as i see clearing skies to the west. Still light rain and thunder. Wind has died down to 10 to 15. Those big oaks were sure wipping a few minutes ago.
  9. Im that perfect angler "no not in catching" as ive never been a fan of the taste of fish. Can count on 2 hands the times ive eaten fish in life. Well maybe 3 hands. So typically fish that i catch are fairly safe from a pan. I do keep a few a year for my wife/kids. I fish maybe 1trip a year other than bass. That trip usually leaves me scratching my head, as im neither comfortable nor experienced enough to catch crappie, whites, catfish, etc. as the guy sitting 8' away from me in the same boat.
  10. He said they pay for nice rooms and meals. After the dessert, they will need those. Smart of them to keep the older generation off the streets after the class, and give them all a place to "cool off".
  11. They flyer says something about blue pills for dessert.
  12. Its headed east in a hurry. Alot of rain coming down and fair bit of lightning with it. Serious wind gusts also. Looking out the window, i see the cows headed towards the west in a hurry. Got a little bull calf born a few days ago, and funny seeing him running full speed with his tail straight up. Hope the rain continues until it hits your area. Rain guage has some in it, but not about to go check it. They say sugar melts when it gets wet, so im staying indoors. Single row makers are a rare site nowadays. My parents had a few that us boys got the chore of using. Good luck on the restore/repair.
  13. Just snapped these. Boy has it cooled down. Hope those on the water got off quick. Looking nasty with lightning flashing.
  14. Oh no you didnt!!!! I got a stern talkin to on here in another thread for mentioning the same scenario. Funny how a few guys spoke up quickly anout never hooking a fish deep on the Ned, but doing a 20 minute search here shows how common it is for MOST guys fishing it, including myself. I did a google search out of curosity, and even the top pros commented how it hooks fish deep. That bait is a small fish numbers bait, so i can only amagine how many non-legal fish die daily due to it thruout the country.
  15. No, i think its one of those sex-ed classes for retired folk.
  16. Always exceptions to the rules MO. You contribute enough here you can set on any spot as long as you want, even during the bass fishing times.
  17. Fished the past few mornings out of Masters. Rarely go more than a mile. Been catching between 9 and 15 bass fishing pockets and points in 2 to 3 hour trips. Still only throwing an underspin with a 5" Big Bite Baits swim bait connected. Caught 2 walleye, both 17" and a 19" on it also. Yesterday as i pulled up to the ramp to get the boat out, there were 2 gentlemen in a Lowe that was camping on the lake for one of their week trips. They had been out morning, afternoons, and evenings bass and crappie fishing. We got to talking about the bait i had been using. I grabbed my rod with bait attached and gave them a look. They didnt have any, and i had bought several the night before due to losing a couple that i broke off on fish, so i gave them a few in 1/4 and 3/8, along with some swimbaits. After they offered to pay me, which i refused, and they said thank you, i stood on the rear of my boat toed up at the dock, and in less than 5 minutes i caught 3 LM and an almost 3 pound smallie. The smallie took it as it was sinking before the retrieve, and the others as it was slow rolled in ticking bottom, as most of my fish are. If your having trouble catching bass, grab a 1/4 ounce underspin, put on your favorite 3.5 or 5" swimbait, and hit those pockets 1/2 way back to spawning areas. If you need assistance, come jump in my boat with me.

Head to a north ramp, and not much traffis weekday or wknd.
  19. See, another reason those crappie fishermen need to get out of the water when us bass guys launch. Lets do disignated days/times on the water. Bass guys get from 1/2 hour before daylight until 11am. Then again from 3 hours before dark until 11pm. That leaves those "other" anglers plenty of opportunity to set there, in one spot, for their alloted time. Tho im poking fun, that thought actually has merit. Ok off to write my proposal to the MDC, LT. Gov. Parsons, Stockton Lake Board of Realtors, C.O.E, the FAA, and anyone else that may be bored and want to read my ramblings. PM me if anyones interested in my thoughtless ramblings. "Nevermind, please dont PM meyour requests, i need the space for MoCarps garbage.
  20. No joke, just walked in from switching cows to a different pasture and i was killing those mosquitoes biting the back of my dang neck.
  21. Hahahaha. You know what i realized about myself today while bass fishing? I hate those dang crappie fishermen. They set there, anchored or tied to a tree, sitting in that same spot as i fish up to, and past them. Least they could do is move so i can fish that area they had been sitting in for 2 hours. Share the lake people. Gosh those guys drive me bonkers. 😜
  22. Do you wear a Tiger Woods jersey?
  23. That last part is what i posted above about. Her pet fishies my behind. Maybe until one gets fooled by a wacky worm pitched in there. I love when dock owners chat with me about "their" fish. Has only happened maybe 3 times in thousands of trips, but i like to chat, so i try to help them understand fish behavior.
  24. attitude? Naw just my polite way to say, if you dont like it, then pull anchor and move.
  25. Plenty of sour, old grumpy dock owners who have nothing better to do than to sit on their dock and whine at every lure that gets pitched in, between, on their dock. You may own the material the docks built from, but that water were those fisheys are, is mine buckwheat.
