  1. Looks like an awesome time. Hope you all made it home safe.
  2. Those are some nice ones... I too wish I was there...
  3. Yeah, should of left earlier in the afternoon, but we had already pre-ordered our tickets for Rogue One before I was planning on coming down... Lots of folks stranded on the highway last night. Stupid ice...
  4. Well it appears I'm not going to make it. Still stuck here at home...Still have a sheet of ice for a driveway... Sorry guys, was really looking forward to this one, but I missed my window yesterday. Good luck, and I'm sure they will be biting now that I'm not going to be there.
  5. Sounds good jtram and Bryan. Maybe you and Bryan1717 can get them warmed up for me before i get down. If waters up and flowing I may go try to find that big walleye hanging out down by the dam I saw a few weeks ago and throw some sticks at him.
  6. Haha, if I was smarter I'd be sleeping too... Will be an early night likely for me too once those temps start dropping. Depends on the bite though. LOL
  7. I saw that the water had finally been off for a bit. I still won't be down till later tonight, but if the waters off I may go wade rebar and drift some san juan worms. Not sure if you wade fish or fish at night though?
  8. The movie Idiocracy was a prophecy... Some days I want to stop the planet and get off... Bet that smelled like a burnt hot dog.
  9. I like Quantum Energy reels. I put some miles on mine, and you can usually find them for under $100. Have a PTi right now which just keeps going and going. Great drag on them too.
  10. Duane, You fishing TR for walleye, or farther down Taney? Saw 2 the last time we were down up by the dam, but I think they've been thinned out up there.
  11. Congrats and good luck with a speedy recovery!
  12. I'll be down Friday around 10:00 or 11:00PM and will need to head out around 10:00 or 11:00AM on Sunday I'm down to fish pretty much the entire weekend when or if anyone wants to. As Duane puts it I guess I'm still pretty mad at them and will fish all day and night. Thinking boat fish while the sun is up and wade fish at night up by the dam. Saturday night temps might curtail the night fishing some as it looks like the temps are gonna drop for Sunday. Food - I will bring some deer and veggies down to do a stir fry on the grill, and the wife is going to send me down with a home made cheesecake. Looking forward to it!
  13. I'll be down late Friday night staying through Sunday. Depending on the flow when I get down I may go up to trophy area and wade a bit and throw some sticks or jig for a while.
  14. That's a really beautiful brown there. Both of them are colored up great!
  15. I've thrown allot of Rapala X raps in the baby trout and white patterns on 10lb braid at night. I generally only throw 2 hook sticks, although my BIL has thrown the longer 3 hooks and had some success. I have some other sticks and husky jerks too that are really shiny which I like for at night with a moon. I think I'm going to start throwing them during the day too just to target these bigger browns. Those are some beautiful fish. I crush all my barbs on these treble hooks too as they seem to tangle up in everything fish and fingers included
  16. He needs his own rod too apparently I gotta say I LOL everytime I see Tippet going after those fish. A man, a dog, and his cat... I see a new youtube series in the making.
  17. All good John, I'll be pretty open in January.
  18. For sure lol. I never get fully zeroed out between this and hunting, but luckily I married a good one who supports my addictions We definitely need to get a weekend booked so we can get you that taneycomo brown!
  19. I did some negotiating as well and got the green light to go. Its going to cost me, being I just got back from there, but its worth it LOL
  20. Dang just missed ya, Just headed back Sunday afternoon...
  21. This sounds like a great plan! Have to check my schedule though, I'm a maybe at this point. We could also have a OAF moving day. I wouldn't mind helping you out if we had enough of us we could move a house pretty quick so you could join us on the water Phil!
  22. Thanks Ketchup. Looking forward to it, and learning a new skill is always fun for me too.
  23. Our trip has come and gone already... Back home and realised I didn't update this post much. 2 reasons for that. One fishing for us was slow. Other reason is we really put the time in fishing day and night hoping it would pick up and wore ourselves out . We are pretty adaptive to fishing Taney, but they had been running water since Friday night so we rented a boat from Phil on Saturday for the morning. Nice day out on the lake, but the fish didn't cooperate at all for us... We jigged mostly from fall creek back to Phil's with no luck. Sometimes that's how it goes, but that afternoon we wadered back up and headed to the dam again. Caught a few, but not the numbers we're used too. Last night brought the rain. Bite picked up a bit for me in the rain. They were running over 4k cfs so I went to a sinking trout patterned rapalla up by the cable. Had 2 nice bows back to back on my first casts, but then it died off again. We drifted some orange san juans with a bead head scud dropper for a bit too down around 2nd outlet. Picked up a couple, but had to work for them. Our gear finally started to get soaked through around 2:30am and hands were trashed from the rain and cold so we called it. Still had an awesome time, and can't wait to get back down. Oh I did snag 3 more stockers off Phil's dock this morning too on a white and grey 8th oz. Maribou. A good way to end the trip!
  24. Brandon Made it down around 4. We got him situated and wadered up. Got the fly rods all set, take 2 steps into the water and the horn blows lol. That's our luck. We fished a bit til the current picked up then started jigging. It's definitely picked up. We have been picking them up here and there. I'm throwing sticks in the current, and B's jigging
  25. Dang! Nice job DD. Glad you guys are tearing them up.
