I can attest that Brandons Bulgogi is quite magical... many pounds of it were consumed at one of our last work potlucks.

I told all the newbs I'm bringing with me they better bring sweat pants and a loose belt! I'm down for a chili cookoff! I'm also bringing my personal chef this year too in the form of Ray Ray. Dude can flat out cook and I'm sure he'll bring something magical. Wifey lol'd at us crazies and said since it's for you Rick she'll make ya a cheesecake!
-
Oh yeah that smoked chili I had 3 bowls of was terrible, just terrible! Hahahahaha Looking forward to deer for breakfast again too! I'll have my better half make us some muffins too for those that like to grab and go.
-
Well I guess that settles it! Cheesecake it is my friend lol.

Im curious to see how fast the CDC reverts their decision back after the election... I mean if we're covid positive and can go wait in crowded lines because the CDC said so can we not go to the grocery store or shopping as well? They are setting a dangerous precedent there...
-
And then I see articles like this and just scratch my head or my posterior, not sure which one at this point anymore https://www.kfvs12.com/2020/11/03/people-infected-with-covid-can-go-polls-cdc-says/ I mean should we stay quarantined if we are covid positive, or is our vote more important than our health to them? Which one is it...

I too try to trust the science... I just have a real hard time trusting anyone at this point, and with as much back and forth we've been exposed to In think we should all question everything unfortunately. To be self centered a bit though you are in control of your choices. You still have the freedom to choose. The other side if you want to put folks on sides are trying to execute their ability to choose based on what they believe in also... there will likely never be agreement here. Just to clarify though if it meant getting to fish with you Al or some of my other friends here, and they asked me to wear a mask in their boat I'd happily oblige to keep you all safe. I understand the risks to folks in certain age brackets or with pre existing conditions In really do. And thank you for the civil conversation here. Despite being a stubborn jerk sometimes I am capable of hearing others out.

So if they are not getting a kick back then why are they marking deaths as covid when they are not? I believe in greed as the driver to profit from this, but maybe they are marking them just to pad numbers? Maybe just maybe... it could go on and on, and yes I understand elective surgeries are the money makers, but in this case when you're dead you'll likely not be getting cut on anymore. Unless they are charging cadavers for surgery... man let's not give them any ideas.
-
Some valid points there Al. While I can certainly see your points I must ask where was the call for mask with sars and h1n1? Why don't we wear mask to prevent tuberculosis, or during the flu season? I'd guess half the folks out there wearing masks don't even know the difference between a n95 versus a cloth mask versus a respirator... What is the driving point here besides the numbers which may or may not be fully or accurately represented? Why do we still not understand more on this virus, it's transmission rates, it's ability to kill some while sparing others? Can you honestly say you put 100% blind faith in what our government, for profit hospitals, and media are telling you to be true in regards to covid? Based off my experience with covid and generally every other topic those 3 groups touch there's no way I can just blindly follow... again not a call out and you're fully within your rights to do what you want and take risks as you see fit. I don't think it always has to be liberal vs conservative either. I don't think of myself as macho for fishing without my mask, nor do I feel emasculated by wearing a mask to work... I do understand how these points have been manipulated by certain parties and quite frankly the behavior on both sides disgusts me. Stay safe out there in God's country. I do think isolation will definitely help in regards to limiting your chances of exposure and I truly wish you well.

I'm mad, but not at anyone in particular... just fed up and frustrated with the nonsense. I just need to get out and fish more...
-
Agreed John and I can only imagine... truly a lose lose situation...

The whole school quarantine thing is a hot mess in our district... they've quarantined over 1800 kids and I think 7 or 8 have been positive. We've also had covid positive parents keep sending kids and siblings to schools. I got 3 in 3 different schools and it's just crazy right now. I'm in agreement with the better safe than sorry approach and wouldn't have an issue if they had virtual learning for those kids that get quarantined, but they do not... My oldest is a sophomore and in 4AP classes, not trying to brag but she's a nerd 😃... Poor kid was on her chromebook almost 10 hours a day for 2 weeks just to try and keep up... she's rocking a 4.4GPA and it's all in jeopardy now because they are not able to accommodate the course lecture model of the college classes for non virtual students. I'll fight tooth and nail for her as this is a kid who was royally pissed off at being quarantined and not allowed in class and ultimately it can have real consequences on her future education choices. We're friends with a few teachers and counselors in the district and they even said they have to find a different way to adjust to this.

PB sauger and a good fall bite today

I figured you're just getting into fighting shape for jigfest, either that or you're planning on the 10lb weight gain from all the weekend smorgasbord down there hahaha -
If you want to wear a mask 24/7 indoors, outdoors, while driving down the road so be it. If you believe that your mask will protect and save you while driving or being outdoors and away from others who am I to question your mask wearing logic. That's your choice and you have every right to behave that way, and believe whatever you need to. I also have a right and choice to wear a mask as I see fit. If you require me to wear a mask in your store and I refuse to wear one, it's your right to refuse me service and it's my right to not shop there. I wear a mask everyday to work as its required. Do I support it? Not really but I'll comply as it's a term of my employment. I also have the right to not comply and go find employment elsewhere as it's my choice. It's a 2 way street that right now is a very gray area for me. Don't infringe on my rights though and dictate what behavior you require from me to be compliant with whatever demands you deem are necessary by a government run health agency that has yet to prove they even know what the transmission rates or risk rates truly are. I watched my said previous employer ( a major healthcare provider that many hete frequent in the STL area) just about bankrupt their operating model based off fear mongering and death totals that never materialized. How many people died due to fear of going to the hospitals or skipping elective surgeries due to covid fears or the fact the hospitals stopped elective surgeries altogether. Knee jerk reactions I witnessed and was impacted by play out firsthand... This whole mess has been a giant crap sandwich that has impacted countless lives I'm not denying that, but we all should still be allowed our freedom of choice to make the decisions for our own families based off our own fact finding and experiences and not just blindly follow what the media and government tell us to do.
-
Sadly I do as well, even if my small sample size of a handful of medical professionals that have seen it and experienced it first hand is conservatively stating 15 to 20 cases of erroneous reported deaths, I'm sure there are others. Shortly before I was let go from my healthcare employer due to Covid there were already internal rumours about how Covid death relief funding would make up the gaps for missed general elective surgeries...
-
In a nutshell it comes down to their hypocrisies of mask wearing. I do not deny that masks serve a purpose, but when you say everyone must wear a mask 24/7 even while outdoors to keep your ultra high risk family safe, but choose to send your kids back to school versus keeping them virtual because you can't handle them staying at home for your mental well being you lose my sympathy. When you yell at my children for not wearing their mask correctly while your child runs around with their mask on their shoe you lose my sympathy. When you spew rehashed political talking points to someone who supports neither side ad nauseam I refuse to listen to your crap or have my children exposed to their drivel. Can't choose your family, however I can decide whether or not I'll be around them. Sorry your wife was exposed to a maskhole, but you state you'd get up in his face because of it? Aren't we all supposed to be social distancing? I'm not following the logic there... As for death certs reported erroneously as covid you can either believe it or don't. As I stated before I'm not here to change anyone's mind or view point, just venting my general disgust with this whole situation or for a better part 2020 in general.
-
It really is insane. It's driven my wife and her family apart... They have legitimate health concerns and need to be extra careful, but they've over stepped boundaries on trying to force their way of life onto my family. Between Covid and politics my family will likely be sitting alone during the holidays as I refuse to support or acknowledge their demands and behavior. Sad really, but it is what it is, there is no changing someone's viewpoint. They should and can live in a bubble if they need to, but me and mine do not nor will not.
-
Correct, hospital was saying covid on death certificates when clearly it was not. They tried reporting it but went nowhere...
-
I for one am so tired of all of this... I'll tell you one thing and that's I don't trust any statistic or numbers I hear from either side. Much less from the government. Both sides have agendas and are using a new virus as a political tool. I'll share some of my observations and take it or leave it, doesn't ultimately matter to me. My nephews a paramedic, and his wife's a surgical transplant nurse who does organ donor harvesting. What I can say is that they both have seen and tried reporting an alarming number of deaths due to covid on death certificates that should not be. Get hit by a car - died of covid, fell off a cliff - died of covid, succumbed to cancer - died of covid. There take on it is that hospitals get their covid kick back money so there is money to be made here in marking a death as covid... Again a small sampling size, but you're pulling the wool over your eyes if you do not believe this pandemic is being monetized and used for nefarious purposes. I know a dozen people who have had Covid so far. Only one has been hospitalized but has recovered fully thank God. The other 11 were all sick for 2-4 days and were over it without a trip to the ER and said just a weird cold with mild fever. Ages were from 12 to 64. Weired that most other family members never got it either. My youngest was tested without my permission when she was in for a sinus infection... wife had mandatory testing before her surgery... oldest daughter was quarantined from school but never had it... I believe fully Covid is capable of killing healthy people. Have no doubt about that, but there's a bunch of other crap out there that's just as capable and even more likely to kill you. If you're at higher risks like some of my own family then yes you should isolate and take extra care. I for one will go on about my life. My last trip we had 19 middle aged adults go to Mexico... 4 airplanes, multiple buses and charters, hardly zero social distancing at a pretty packed resort, and not a single one of us came back sick... but you'd think I was out there killing people and being reckless, and endangering others with my freedom though. Wife took the brunt of it as I thankfully do not social media. If your masks work so well then what's the worry, and yes I do wear masks when appropriate. I just trust in my maker and my own personal hygiene to keep me safe and hope I don't fall into that .06% chance of having adverse possibly deadly reaction to a new bug. Just so much misinformation being spread, and I still am amazed with the entire planet's medical community working on this there is not a way to determine through genetic marking what makes this deadly for some, and a mild cold for others... we still know very little apparently on even transmission rates, or on the flip side someone just doesn't want to tell us the truth. My only dog in this fight is myself. I support neither political party and just miss my fishing buddies and times of normalcy. I truly hope you all stay safe and please dont take anything personally here, just me ranting on my observations of this crazy world we're living in, and I hope sometime soon I get to get back to hanging out with some of ya. Oh and Rick to keep your thread somewhat on path I think the booze will likely kill that Corona before it will get ya . Hope to see you soon buddy on the White.

Phil I think the cedar gables cabin where we've been going is still booked so QB was going to see what else was available at Rileys. We should maybe do an updated head count on who's still coming as well. I know myself plus 5, Cody, Brett, John, will all need lodging. Eric, Rick, Ham, maybe Richard, and not sure who else local may be around? I think Mike and his son maybe? Might need to start IMing these guys so we can get a talley... I'll go back through this thread and see who we can round up. So Phil you for sure, possibly Blake and Duane?
