  1. As always enjoyed your vid. Nice job Dan. Those big whites sure are scrappers. Looks like you had a great evening on the water. Headed out thurs and friday after some meat and to pre fish. Have a crappie turny on Stockton this Saturday. It's a buddy's work turny should be good for fishing everyone. Thanks for vid and report.
  2. Congrats on the shrooms Dan. Great vid. I don't mind snakes as long as I see them first. Haha.
  3. Nice birds. I got schooled by 2 big gobblers early both hung up and wasn't having it. I Scored late 11:30am. 20lbs, 9in heard, 1 inch spurs. Thank goodness for 2yr olds. Called 4 in together in a group. Had all 4 struttin and gobbeling. What a great show. Back to work tomorrow. Gerrrrrr.
  4. Remember that shop as a kid. My pick was on the wall with my dad and great uncle with a 45lb flathead we caught running lines at Aldrich. Wish I had that pic now to show my boy. The new store across the road just changed up the name to Bait Masters. Guess they couldn't handle the original name. Haha.
  5. Jason....Not trying to be rude but all Stroll'r bodies are the same. Bobby Garland baits makes several body styles. They are owned by Gene Larew and located in Tulsa, OK. Slab Slay'r (2" and 3") , Srtoll'r, Baby Shad, Baby Shad Swim'r, Minnow Minder, Slab Doctor, Scent Wiggler, Split Tail Minnow, Hyper Grubs, Plus the new Itty Bitty Series. It's sad I know all this I'm a serious bait junkie. I really like some BG baits but like Zoom plastics I find them way to solft and tear with ease getting only a fish or 2 out of a bait. Wish they would firm up the heads of the baits a little. All in all good baits and great color selection.
  6. $4.09 plus tax! Ding Dang. Sportsmans (Lews) off 44 has your gum drop stroll'rs for $2.99 per pack. They are the cheapest around on Bobby Garland baits. Good color though even on Pomme and Truman. Those eggs look ready in the pic.

    Good luck

Good.luck to all that's going in the morning. Should be great hunting but you never know about those old gobblers. Heard lots of gobbeling this weekend early and seen lots of stutters. He safe. Hope every one get a bird.
  8. I didn't fish Friday, Saturday, and not gonna make it today. Have been busy scouting for turks and shroom hunting. Found several shrooms and the Turkey's are gobbeling good and seen plenty of stutters. If I get lucky enough to get a bird early tomorrow I'll head to the lake and try to find some crappie. Just so much to do in spring and not enough time to do it all. I'm pulled between shrooms, Turkey's, and crappie. Going nuts trying to find enough time to go after all three. Getting a little jealous of all the crappie pics. Haha. But glad to see they are bitting and y'all are having fun on the water. I'll have some info to add on crappie late next week. Planing on fishing thurs, Fri, Sat.
  9. Nice haul billethead. Good pics as well. I'm with you. I hope the rain this week brings another crop on. Fingers crossed its not already over for us this spring. Thats some fine eating. I'm still jellious of the wild asparagus. All we need now is some turkey breast for the spring fling. Well done.
  10. Thanks BilletHead. He's all boy for sure. Had to really watch him with that pocket knife yesterday. He was trying to carve and cut every stick in site. Haha. Al Agnew. We love oysters as well. I didn't find any last fall though. Usually find some on a few trees I know of every year but they never showed last fall. Was a surprise to see the sulfer out in spring. I usually don't find them till fall but guess I need to look for those as well in spring.
  11. Nice haul billethead. Me and the boy found a few this morning on a quick outing. Found 19 and he had a blast. Already wanting to go again He's as ate up with it now as his dad is. Haha. We also found a few young sulfer shelf. Left them to grow. Well check them and harvest when big enough to eat.
  12. Taking the boy out today to hit a spot by the house. He's excited and ready to go. Will post how we do when we return. Above post was Polk county. Today we're tryin by the house in Stone county.
  13. Bowl of halves and the biggest 3 I found.
  14. Set out yesterday to hunt the woods for a while and found a few. It was alot of searching and not much finding. Went to my usual spots and nothing down low around the ashes in the creek bottom. Went and checked the old homestead elms nothing there yet either. So I knew then it was gonna be a long hike to the ash ridge. Started in the holler and hunted up the ridge to the top. Notta one on the ash trees heading up the ridge. Hit the top and made it to the flat and bingo finally found one. Hunted out the ash flat and ended up finding 67 and my dad found a sack full as well. I dont know how that 65 year old man keeps up but he sure does. Gave the land owner a mess and still brought home a good mess as well. Found alot of dry ones, some falling apart, and some just no good. I left alot of small ones to see if the rain next week makes them grow big enough to eat. Seen alot of strutting and heard alot of gobbles early should be good Monday morning. Good luck.
  15. Find that hard to believe billet head. Headed out in the morning to glass for birds, cut out a few hideouts, and poke around for some morels. Can't wait till Monday morning I'm ready for some fried turkey and mushrooms. Good luck to all this turk season.
  16. Those are pigs. Haven't found any that size up in the river yet. Nice job.
  17. I'm torn between checking my mechanic skill I preformed on the boat and trying for crappie or hitting the woods to shroom hunt on Friday. I'm leaning on shroom hunting. Sure am craving another mess of morels. I barely got a taste of the last ones. The wife and kids were eating them as fast as I could cook them. I get flustered every spring. To many things to do to little days off work......Gerrrrrrrrr
  18. Highly doubt they came from the park area. They would have had to come over the dam at Riverdale and the mill dam at the park. Bet someone just dumped them after cleaning. I have caught whites below Riverdale dam years ago when you could still fish there. Really miss fishing there. It was a great multi species area.
  19. My thoughts are just go and make the best of it. Being a working stiff limits my days hunting and fishing. I have found if you don't go because of the weather man you'll just find something else to do and wish you would have gone. I just learn to adapt to the situation and have fun. Learning your lake and knowing where you can launch close to areas that are not far and shelter you from the winds is key. Its important to know these areas on Stockton so if a storm rolls in your not stuck making a long dangerous run back to the truck. Study lake maps and find fishable areas for every wind direction. Kinda like hanging stands for dear hunting you want to know where and where not to be in certain wind directions and speeds. Scouting these areas and getting familiar with the fishable structure and fish holding areas will give you back up locations for off the norm weather days. But to answer your question. I think it's hog wash about fish not bitting with east winds. I have had sucess in all directions of wind. The trick is finding areas you can fish an east wind.
  20. The white and chart is my 2nd favorite on Stockton. Haven't used the other one.
  21. Nice mess of grays. I need to hit my spots again soon. We need ☔ in a bad way. The wind has been awfull this spring. All you need now is some fresh turkey breast or crappie to go with your fungus.
  22. Just seen that might be lexan glass. Either way I like it.
  23. Great looking early garden billethead. Those raised beds with screen lids are awsome. Might have to copy that next year.
  24. Haha wrench. I finally figured it out. Cracked pressure bulb. Got it fixed after some head scratching. Had plans to call out the big guns (you) if couldn't track it down. Gonna be back out Friday chasing crappie.
  25. Had plans to crappie fish but my boat was giving me fits. Said Heck with it and headed to the river. Looks like I'm playing boat mechanic this weekend to try and figure it out.
