Bill you have had to see my story on geting a ticket fishing off bank above the cable! Yes, I did and I paid my fine today! The guy with me has never been down at the dam before trout fishin, we bass fish! Having that said, he is taking them to court about the sign and everything Mr. Conservation man had to say. I was at the Springfield office for and hour today because they wanted to hear what I had to say. The other guy has a case against the officer and they did all but agree. I am tried of all this, so I am hanging up my hat on the trout and going back to bass fishing. We both have Champion boats and don't need the dung I got on here! Love u trout guy's, Ducky, Leonard,Dano and everyone else. Be safe, and don't go above the cable!!! Love'n life Dave

Yes, he informed us that even casting above the cable was illegal, that I didn't know. It's a safe bet I will keep my distance now. The fish will still be there.We caught everything on roostertails yesterday and could cast them half way across the lake.Alot of the bites was on the drop!

You guy's are right. Maybe it wasn't as bad as I earlier thought.And your right about not being able trust everyone. I think it was some of the things he said and the way he went about it. No, I am in the wrong here. I am saying the officer was hateful, had an attitude and was not caring about his professinal responsabilities. I am not trying to cheat on anything. It just sucked that we were fishing for 3 hours catching fish at the same place before the little creek before the cable and we sit down with no rod in the lake for 10 minutes and here he comes. Oh, we had a cooler to, I am 45 so I can drink a barley pop when I want to. I will pay the fine,tomorrow it's Spooks and 3/4 roosertails.

Well got down about 1:00 since the road was shut down to the dam with NO SIGN, Started fishin below the cable with roostertails catching more fish than than the guy's in the in the water. 30 -40 fish later after getting our 4 fish limit a piece cause the family want's some good fish to eat. Getting ready to leave sittin down on the rocks here comes the Conservation Man! What a son of a bit h. All our trout was legal, got a ticket for fishing above the cable. Was I above, 3 feet! Yes, No problem. It's my fault. Was wasn't that we was singled out and no one esle was I.D. except us. The boat out anchored out at the cable was fine casting up stream past the cable! What pisses me off about the whole thing is the lack of respect for the conservation dept guy. So tomorrow.I will be at Chute #1 with my Flippin Stick and a Zara Spook on trying to catch them Bass Phil is talking about. The officer said when he comes up to us, have you got any wants or warrents! What the hell does that got to do with fishin! He was the upmost most UNPROFESSIONAL PERSON I HAVE EVER MET! Sportin My O@A Hat think I would do somethin wrong! Yes , I was above the sign by 3 feet, my fault.

We just tie on the biggest spoon we have usually 3/4 to a 1 oz and cast right over them and start jerk it back. If that don't work boat paddle smacking the water " Saying I got him, I got him"!

This will be year 29 in a row for me! I am in and bring the gang. Leaving about 1:00 today. Gotta love all the people and snags and food and cold beer!!!!!

Done had enough for the week,going down a day early to play in the Ozarks. The rest of the crew will be down tomorrow unless they know I am gone, then let the party begin!!!!!!

I was fishing from bank up from chute 1 around then. First cast on a roostertail a 2 pound bow, pretty fish. Tryed the jig a float and caught only 1 then the reel messed up,tip broke off and I threw the whole dam thing in the lake. Well regrouped and went back with the roostertail a caught another 8-9 smaller fish and left when the water kept comming up about 11:45 or so!

Like wise Thom, and thanks for the float's! Back to work today and tomorrow then the rest of the week is mine. Maybe they will scale back the water a tad bit.

Won't have to worry about the horns cause they are running water big time I just got back!

Phil is there anyway to pattern the whites or they just up there for the shad?Comming down tomorrow to try it again!

There is shad, I was there yesterday. Maybe not as many as you expect but there is shad. And it's happening, but Phil will have the final word I put three or for on bank by chute 1 when I left but thr Pre a historic swall Healy Bird got them cause he was a watchin every move I made. Even got pic's of him.

Texas, at Sam Rayburn I caught many practicing for a Bassmasters event years ago.

Yes we did see quite a few. The guy nexted to me caught a brown with a belly full and was spittiing them out. The birds were going crazy too.

Well got down around 9:00 and lord behold nobody there! Got to fish chute 1 by myself with my spinning rod. Roostertail no bite, brown jig 1st cast caught a at least a 20 something got 3 feet from bank and I paniced, it broke off. darn it Then caught a 17 inch brown where the water comes out and a 15 inch brown. Froze out and went to find Lilley's. What a deal, I was on Fall Creek rd,Trail,Dr and anyway found it to get my orange Ozark Anglers Cap. The lady working there, probably Phil's wife,very friendly and hot, oh did I mention, well all good she help me get a couple of floats and I went back to the dam. Went up from chute 1 with a white roostertail and caught 7 in a row. In all 25 or so fish and alot of bows between 14-18 and fat browns between 12 and 17. You didn't hear it from me, but the shad is comming threw the dam. We caught the last few fish on a white 1/8 jig and bobber.

Leaving when the wife leaves for work about 7:00 from Springfield and trying to make it to the cable for some spinning rod action with the rapala's if the waters not to high to fish off bank. Going to go by Phil's on the way home to get a hat but have know Idea how to get there from the dam, any help? Thanks,Dave Whodat

I is thinkin of loaden up the spinning rods and the rapala's and venturing that way soon as the dryer get's done

Just checking back in after the power being out since sunday. Got power about 3:00 this afternoon. In bad need of a fishin fix! Probably clean up the house tomorrow and look at wedneday down at the dam. Glad to be up and running again.

Looks like the weather is taking a turn for the worst! News this morning be prepared for extended power outages around Springfield area and up to 2 inches of ice! Last time I was cutting 3 elm trees that broke and is still in the yard.
