  1. Thanks, Phil, I am glad things turned out as well as they did. Meaning that your losses were less than everyone expected. Good luck.
  2. Your wife sounds like mine, doesn't lose her cool very often. But she wouldn't sit and sort for hours. She has video games to play.
  3. I had read on one of the sites that there were a lot of dead trout at Baptist Camp. Bummer, if it did that to the trout in the Current what did it do to the fish in the rest of the rivers? I guess they could have been the hatchery stockers. I was going to take a drive but now the Missouri has flooded out of the banks and the last time I checked Hwy 47 over to Washington was closed. That would mean a really long trip around for me to reach any of the streams I would normally fish. Maybe it will open by Saturday and I can do some exploring.
  4. Thanks' Al and Wrench for the lesson in Hydrology. I had read that before all of the trees had been cut along the Current that it had been a much deeper river just because the rain didn't wash all of the gravel into the river. Had you heard of this and to your knowledge is it true. I have to admit I have floated a great deal of the Current but never really studied rivers as living things.
  5. Mothers day is coming.
  6. After the last flood, the sand was everywhere downstream. I was amazed at the amount and found it hard to believe all of that sand washed out of the hills and the uniformity of it made me think it had been flushed out of the spring. There seems to be an awful lot of it. Thank's Bill
  7. Maybe Phil could ship them to your wife to sort out.
  8. In the water. I believe they just stay where they are at and cling to the bottom where the current is less or find cover where they can. Some may come up from the river. the reason I think that is I caught a few Browns in the park last year after the December flood. though they may have come from the sanctuary upstream at the spring, though they weren't large fish.
  9. Checking out the Montauk State Park site had some pictures of the flood and the damage caused by the flooding. I have a question. Where does all of the sand come from? Is it washed down of the hills or is it flushed out of the springs? It seems to be as thick on the ground as it was after the last flood.
  10. Tanks Moguy, I was looking at the Modot map and being that the creek floods and tops the road I couldn't be sure since it goes up and down so fast. Hope to get down there soon. Good fishing and stay dry. Bill
  11. Anybody have any information or photos of the flooding here. The one picture I saw didn't look good.
  12. Any new photos or news.
  13. Apparently, N is closed at the Meramec river.
  14. The volume and height seem to be falling fast but I am sure It's not fast enough for the people of Steelville.
  15. The river gauge shows the river is the flow and height are dropping fast but it's a long way from bringing relief to the people in that town. Sorry, wrong site.
  16. I was thinking the same thing. If we can get enough people to call their Senator and representatives maybe they will change their minds.
  17. Photos posted by ROLF showed devastation and more devastation. Very sad way to start the season. I hope they had insurance.
  18. Here's hoping the system blows thru really fast. It seems like there isn't a road open on any road that crosses a river in the southern part of the state. I was going to go to one of the little creeks to check it out but the Hwy 47-50 in Union was shut down due to the Burbouse river flooding. They just got everything put back together from 2015.
  19. No, I didn't go. One the Burbouse flooded and closed hwy 47 in Union. Two, Hwy N that runs down to BSC is closed. Whether it is closed at BSC or further down at the Meramec is the question. Either way, I decided to wait it out. Depending on were in St.Louis your coming from 44 is likely to still be closed. I can see myself going Friday depending on how much rain we get over the next couple of days.
  20. Do you really want this page to become like facebook?
  21. I have some fond memories and flies in that tree. After all, that tree has been thru I would be a bit surprised if it was gone but the kind of rain we just received could do a lot to change that creek. I plan on getting some fishing in on the small creeks done this week. I am not sure were but BSC being my favorite so far is a prime candidate.
  22. I read the precipitation graph wrong. At first, I thought you had received 17 inches of rain. I knew that couldn't be right. More like seven, wewww
  23. I have used the purple I found on a dust mop in the closet. I washed it first and my wife will never know. Bass Pro is selling a mop fly chenille in different colors. As far as what weight head that would depend on the flow.
  24. Jackdizo, I hear good things about the Accell I just bought the 8.6 4 weight Pulse for trout. Great rod. My six weight is a Douglas FHX it is OK. I haven't used it as much as my 5 weight for trout but I do use it for just about everything else. Maybe I will see you on a stream someday. Thanks, Bill.
  25. They are talking some major rain event this weekend. Up to eight inches. I may stay off the creeks for a while.
