Curious. At that depth are you trolling with your outboard motor or with trolling motor ? would think big motor might spook them!

Fished sat nite under the lights. Pic of fish in the tank. Mixed bag of crappie, bass, catfish, whites and drums. BASS went into my pond !! Wife and i went out Monday morning and did some trolling with flicker shads. Pic of fish on the board. Lost a 7 to 8lb eye about 2ft from my net. 6 other short eyes. Some of the biggest crappie ive ever caught on this lake. 6 of them were btwn 13 and 14". kept boat in 20' range. baits running 12 to 16' deep. Tried multiple colors. Only natural shad color worked for us. Also tried some bottom bouncing with spinner/crawlers. Only caught drum and catfish on them. Lots a fun !!

First time staying at LL. Great cabin. Didnt get to meet Phil but the staff i did were great. Hope to be back soon. I havent been on the lake for 20yrs or so. Wife and decided we were tired of fishing in the tree tops on Pomme so we decided to test out the towing on her new SUV and headed down. Was hoping to catch a few and do some relaxing. That sure didnt happen ! We caught close to 100 fish and flat wore us out.We fished from 5pm till dark on sat. Wife was using white jigs and i was using small flicker shads. She kicked my butt that evening landing 4 rainbows between 16" and 19". 13" about best i could do, but we got 30+ before heading in. Sunday morning was just incredible. i got out at daybreak. Couldnt get get the wife outta bed sun morning (too much tequila sat night). I caught 20+ in first 2 hours. Half of them being 18" to 19". One nice brown (pic) few other smaller browns. That was my first brown ever ! Those browns are beasts. They sure can fight. Couldnt stand her missing the action so went back to get her at 7:30. She had breakfast ready for me !! Gobbled that up and hit the lake. It was just constant action up till about 11am. 25-30 fish that time. Stopped for a quick lunch then made one last run to the dam and then drifted down past the landing a mile or so catching another 20 or so fish. I did NOT want to go home. One of the best fishing trips i've ever had. Thanks to all at Lilleys Landing. Vic

Awesome fish and pics. We were there over weekend too. We had same results. Remember seeing your boat. I was using the small flicker shads in same color pattern. Wife used used white jigs.

Havent been to stockton since early spring. At that time the ramp was blocked off at Hi Point. Assuming its open now with the lake rising. Anyone know what the water clarity is like in that area ?

Thanks for all the GREAT advice ! Be on the water this weekend giving it a try !!

Thanks ! Great advice. Guess i shouldve looked at other topics on this page before i started this one! One about bottom bouncers has alot of good info there !!

My experience with trolling is basically none. Have putted around with a rod in my lap and dragging a crankbait. No more then i have done i have caught some nice fish. So i have got set up with some nice rod holders, bottom bouncers, crawler harnesses,crankbaits,etc.... Gonna be me and the wife out there. Set up for 6 rods. As far as being beginners should we stick to one rod apiece ? Maybe 2?? Do you run deeper stuff out the back and shallower on sides ? From research it looks like 1 to 1.5 mph is a good speed ? Once you hook a fish should you maintain your speed or would you shut down till reeled in ? Think shutting down would create issues with snagging ( bottom bouncers ) Sure i could come up with a 100 more questions but i'll stop here for now ! Appreciate any and all advice you all have. Thanks

Went out ystrday even around 5 and fished till dark. Fished a larger cove that had standing timber. Tons of fish suspended from 10-20 ft deep. Caught close to 50 crappie! Most 8.5" long. Ended up with 6 keepers that were still full of eggs. Nothing close to the bank. Mostly out in middle of cove around the trees. Lake was dead calm and only saw one other boat. Not alot to bring home but a fun trip though !!

Thanks. will be heading out in the morning. Think its gonna be a bit chilly !!

Everyone must be busy catching fish. Havent had any time away from work the past two weeks. Starting to have withdrawls!! Hopeing to sneek out for a couple hours this weekend. Just curious to whats been happening on the lake. Assume the crappie spawn is about done ??

Those Spots are pretty tasty !! Close to walleye. Since subject is about replica mounts and share a lunker programs i thought i'd share my "almost" share a lunker ! Caught this a few years ago at Lake Fork. 12.4lb. 23" long. 21" girth. 1" short of being a keeper so couldnt have kept her if i wanted to. Wouldnt have anyway. If she'd just had a 9" crappie for breakfast I'd had me a free replica mount and a plaque on the wall at the hatchery !! Replica's are the only way to go. Friend that does all my mounts does the replicas cheaper then real fish. Even though paying for the mold its alot less time. For him atleast. Not sure how others price them. Early march when i got her. Caught her on a deep channel swing. Took a polaroid pic and let her go. She immediatly rolled over and went belly up. Knew she probably wouldnt make it so i took her in to a close buy bait shop to see if they could help. They put her in their bait tank and called the local conservation agent to come help. All i could think of was how big my fine for a short fish was going to be !! Just the opposite happened. He needled her and worked with her for a couple hours till she was upright. Thanked me over and over for doing the right thing and bringing her in. He went with me the next day to release it where i originally caught it.

Only managed 10 keepers ystrday evening. Just barely biting. Kept pulling the tube bodies down the hook. Throwing 1.5" black/chart tube in beginning. Switched to small 3/4" chart tube and finally started hooking some fish right before dark. Probably would have got a limit had i made the change sooner.

Heading that way soon. Let ya all know how it goes. Mon night caught some on banks in area were i'd been catching suspended fish. yesterday same area and on banks bitin like crazy before the storms blew in.
-
Same thing happened to us sat. Been catching on the banks in same area for a week or so. We beat the banks for about 3 hours with no bites. Just happened to idle by some timber heading back in a cove and graph was loaded with fish. Stopped and dropped a jig and pulled out a 14"er. Wife and i got our limits in about 90 mins. 18 ft of water and most fish were suspended in 5-10ft. Never moved the boat !!
-
We got us another limit each tonite from around 5:30 to 7pm. More females tonite then yesterday. Mostly on minnows.

Wife = Tree Magnet + Line Crosser

Just messin with ya all !! Wife and I got our limits in about an hour yesterday on Pomme. Gonna be a crowded and crazy weekend at the lakes! Once we started catching fish we had two boats from the other side of a large cove come flying over within minutes and start fishing right next to us !! Must have had binoculors. Idiots ! Best part was they only caught a few dinks!!
-
Found some yesterday evening. wife and i both got limits in about an hour. Fast and furious ! 4-6 ft deep just out from a spawning area. I assume!! Mostly males.
-
Got a chance to get back out on sat for 4 or so hours. Tried half doz spots with no luck on the crappie ! Did get an 8lb flathead though ! Lots a fun on ultralite. Talked to a friend in NE Texas and he said crappie had just started spawning there. Lake Fork.

I lived in the Pittsburg area for many years. Those pits are incredible fisheries. Most banks are extremely steep making it a tough walk if fishing the bank. Tubes and small boats are best. The dumps surrounding the pits are by far the best mushroom picking grounds that i've ever found. Good luck !!
-
Been out 4 of past 5 days and caught 7 fish total. Think i forgot how to fish !! Anyone out there having any luck ??

Just curious. Are there any thoughts to introducing any type of aquatic vegetation to the lake? I remember back in the 70's and 80's there was quite alot of some type of plant that was in the lake. Not sure what it was but it grew in stalks with lots of leaves on it. Then it just seemed to disappear ?? Was great habitat for the bass and muskie. Especially the muskie !!!
