  8. Good Afternoon, I am on the hunt for a small canoe, 14' or less. I will be using this to get across a small slough for deer hunting. Wentzville, MO area
  9. I wish i could get down more often but doesn't everyone! Looking forward to more fall/winter fishing this year.
  10. We were down for several days and was able to get out 3 mornings to wet a line, this has been some absolutely brutal heat. Fished from 5:30 to 9:00, put on my "guide hat" the first 2 mornings as we had several people in town that wanted to get out and fish. We had a ball and caught 40+ each morning: Kentucky's, Large Mouth, Whites and blue gill all hit the deck. We did our damage on the same locations as the week prior, deep docks and gravel roll offs. Baits of choice were the swimmer and Dixie jet...the kids dropped some crawlers and boated a load of bass and blue gill. This morning i couldn't get a rise out of anyone so i hit the lake solo. It started off on a sour note with a broken active target mount, hit it with some electrical tape to get by. That mount sure seems cheap! Things quickly turned around and the fish cooperated nicely. The highlight was a 5.95 Largemouth Also probed around and located some crappie, really looking forward to pursuing that more. They ate some leftover crawlers. Had 2 solid fish break me off on the spoon, didn't get a peek at them but sure wish i did, ended the morning with 30 or so. The thermo must really be setting up as there was a defined line of fish at 20'.
  11. Bill, You are welcome in my boat anytime! Are you back from Colorado?
  12. I will take the grid off next time out, thanks for the info!
  13. This is as good as i could get it after a few morning of tinkering, I think it will do for now!
  14. Previously i just had the base maps and 2D sonar. It got the job done but upgrading to this new to me system is a game changer. Scanned them first to get me in the general area then used the Active Target to pinpoint the fish for each cast. It almost seems like cheating but hey i like a bow in my rod. This spot seems to hold them very consistently but with the Active Target it took all the guessing out of where to cast, not fan casting, as you were throwing to a group of fish each time. Went and fished some tree tops this morning and it was pretty neat seeing them dart out of a tree for the swim bait or the spoon. This morning was rinse and repeat with a good mix of spots and largemouth. Going out in the morning to give it one last go before the work week.......
  15. Finally got on the water with the new electronics and it didn't disappoint! Now i understand what all the hype is about, pretty unbelievable when you can pin point these fish then put the "livescope" on em. Did most of my damage on 1 deep dock and a gravel roll off, fish were simply stacked to no end. Looking forward to getting back out tomorrow morning. Dixie jet and the little swimmer did most of the damage with a few hair jig fish.
  16. let me know how the conversation goes!
  17. They took home over $10,000 for 1st place. Thats 2X winning a BFL and is a team tournament. Pair it with a co angler to keep both honest and it seems like a good start to me. Scales were brought in for calibration each day of the tournament.
  18. If you would like any more information regarding the set up and any improvements they would recommend let me know, i would be happy to get you in contact with them.
  19. Check out this tournament in Sturgeon bay, one of by best friends ended up winning it this year. Each boat is given a scale, calibrated each day, and an app where the fish is weighed on video and released. For the fish to count the scale and release have to be on camera, the format worked very, very well in his opinion. the facebook link has great content/videos of action during the day. https://www.facebook.com/sturgeonbaybasstournament/ http://www.sturgeonbaybasstournament.com/schedule/
  20. Steve, I have a thru hull and 3 in 1 transducer at the wheel graph Upfront i have the active target and the built in transducer in the ultrex, i believe it is called US2
  21. Picked up the boat last night and couldn't be happier with the clean install. Precision Marine in Old Monroe, MO I had ordered most everything to do it myself but time got the best of me. Went with a carbon 12 up front and active target HDS 12 Gen 3 at the wheel (Thanks to Mr. Babler) and will finally have side scan! Sea Clear wiring harness I like to fish at least 5 casts from the bank so i cant wait to check out the active target. Now to try and figure out how to transfer my way points......
  22. Fished the Shell Knob area 6/17 - 6/19, on the water at 5:30 and off by 9:00 each morning. Friday morning was the best by far with 30+ fish in the boat, mixed bag and most on top. Saturday slowed a bit but still great top water activity until 7:30 or so Sunday, not a single fish on top, but they were still in the same locations, catching just happened on a swimmer and dixie jet. Started keeping track of numbers, baits and weather conditions for a fishing journal this time around, its fun to see when the catching is good! 1 smallmouth at 20.5" on the little swimmer, had 5 walleye, 6 whites, a few LM and the remaining KY's on this trip. Fished all main lake gravel, from 15-30ft, getting my electronics facelift this week and looking forward to putting that to use the next time down!
  23. The folks posting these shots were what i would consider reputable guides and I see them frequently on the lake. I am not in that scene so i could be wrong! I wasn't trying to blast or call out anyone, just curious on others opinions.
  24. So, I'm not trying to start a big debate here but notice several guides posting (facebook) "limits" of bass with bonus cats and walleye, in a box, going in for the knife treatment. I keep a few fish for a fresh fry from time to time but these guys are stacking up limits of fish, sometimes several times a day with 2 trips each day. I understand each guide curtails to their client but was just curious on the opinion of guiding catch vs keep. Is this looked down upon from other professional guides or just a known part of the business? Again, i keep a few to eat too, so I'm not busting chops just curious on the guide perspective.
  25. We fished Friday and tried the bush game but not much happening, we had a few on a blade and a 3lb LM on a buzzer. Got fed up with the slow bite and went to my strong suite little swimmer. We landed on a gravel spot that was just loaded up with SM and nice K's. biggest was a 4 lb SM and several in the 3 lb range. made for a fun hour and a half without moving the boat to save the day. Always fun when things line up at the end with a guest in the boat!
