  1. This is one of the best videos on LOZ Walleye. Gives season to season location tips
  2. Hello all, I bought a place around the 81 mm of the lake and was wondering if there were any tips you could spare for a newbie? I have gone out a couple times and have found that area is more like the Missouri river, as far as, current goes than I EVER would of thought. I see a lot of folks trolling, but I have no idea where to start, for what species are around there, and what to use. It is a little overwhelming. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you!
  3. We are going down to the Gasconade for a float trip this up coming weekend and this is my first time on that river. What kind of tackle would you recommend? I have done a ton of smallmouth fishing on big lakes in Minnesota lakes, but never on a Missouri stream so I really do not know what to expect.
  4. Wow, great fish!!
  5. I noticed that the bathrooms were not as clean up by zone 1 as they used to be the last time I was there. The restrooms at the main store were just horrible when I was there in July, the wife actually went to the hotel instead of using them. I really do not know what a fiesible plan would be about the fish cleaning issue. That would be a lot of guts to dispose of daily on the busy days, just do not know what they would do.
  6. yea, there is nothing worse than getting skunked and having someone next to you catching every cast. I think it is 70% location, 15% what you are using, and 15% the confidence in what you are using. I always have confidence in a size 16-20 bead head pheasant tail or other like nymph under a light indicator using 7x line. That seems to always get hits, no matter what time of year. The John Deere mini jig or the yellow and black jig are another go to for me.
  7. Yea, there are parts of Indep that are pretty hairy. And I agree watching the stream clear out and I had it mostly to myself was awesome, it was not like a winter creel trip...but I could move without bumping into someone. I love those mini jigs for beginners and honestly when it gets crowded, just makes it easier.
  8. Took the trip down to Bennett last Sun - Tues. We just had a blast and caught a lot of fish. I caught most of mine on a size 18 bead head, nothing really big but lots of them. My 8 year old son caught his one fish (on his own) on a John Deere 1/80th jig. The water was getting clear but was still very milky. I did notice that there was not as many fish in zone 1 as there normally is, or maybe due to the milky water they just were not as visible.
  9. I noticed that...Not sure how they thought that would be enforceable on the July 4th weekend.
  10. Anybody know how long for it the river to clear up after something like this? Looks like it is going crazy
  11. Wow, there is a lot of water down there...hope everyone is safe this weekend.
  12. Thank you for the welcome! I know that area well, I am from around Fort Osage high school
  13. Glad the kids did not get in the water, they just do not know the power of water. Scary deal.
  14. Hello all! I am Jess from just outside of Kansas City Missouri. I love to hunt, fish, hike, camp, pretty much anything outdoors. I love to fly fish Bennett Springs, Taney, and around the lakes in the KC area.
