Largest landed trout, about 17 inches. Dropping eggs but they didn't look alive. Clear with a little orange center. But she fought very hard!
I should say best 2 hours beat any day I've had on Taneycomo. Boated to the dam and fished the south bank, first with a black Cicada, then with a #8 tan hopper. Nothing.
Drifted on down to the cut into the island, north side, above Lookout Island. If you've been up there with the water running, hopefully you know where I mean. Started with the big hopper, then switched to a #14 black Jap Beetle. Caught a dozen from there down the side of the bank over 2-3 feet of water and vegetation below (underwater).
When I got to the end, the point, I started catching them fishing from the weeds down below the island and over on the back side a little. I didn't venture up at all but could have. Didn't keep count but I know I caught 10 rainbows after talking to a gentleman I'd been talking to that was drifting with 2 friends and at that time I was over 20 trout. All rainbows. Broke off the beetle so tied on a tan #14 hopper and they really like that.
I left feeding fish... something I don't do often. But I needed to get back to the dock. Fished from 3 to 5 pm.
