Seeing the post about kayak bass tournaments and the measuring devices they're using, I'm kicking around the idea of having a trout tournament along the same lines.
Here's my idea:
I provide the fish rulers. They're returned at the end of the day.
Everybody has to have a way to take pics of their catch. Camera phone, camera. Must be digital.
Start 8 am and stop at 4 pm.
Each angler takes a pic of each trout caught on the ruler showing length.
Length will be scored up to the half-inch. If a trout is 14-1/8th inch, it's scored 14.5 inches.
At "weigh-in", phones pics are downloaded to my computer as well as SD card images from cameras. Then I will go through and tally the total length of each angler's catch. *This may take a long time - winners may not be announced till the next day!
Ties will be broken by the longest fish, second longest and so on. OR tie could be broken by the most fish caught.
Tournament fee would by $20 per person. Pay 4-5 places.
I MAY allow wade fishing. Waders would have to prove they are starting after 8 am and quit at 4 pm. I'd have to figure out a way to do this but I think it could be done. If I allow wade fishing, I probably will restrict fishing in the outlets.
What do you think?
I know there are those who don't like any kind of fishing contest- period. I respect that, but there are those of us who like the competition, as well as the fellowship.
