  1. I live up the road from Busch and just got back from there. Lake 28 had no sign of trout. A couple nice bluegill though . There were no fish dimpling the surface which is typical when it has trout. A lot of people were at 21 but I didn't fish. Just watched and saw nothing caught and no dimples. The water was warm to the touch if that means anything. I'll stay on top of it as best I can and report what's up. SIO3
  2. Maui Jim's SIO3
  3. That sounds better. For me, it all depends on work and I'll let you know as soon as I can. Thanks for the offer. I'm always on the lookout for someone to share the gas cost with. SIO3
  4. I might be interested FFM. I won't know for sure till sometime that week. Depends on work. One question though. Why are you leaving so early? Can't fish till 8am. SIO3
  5. What's better for grilling, Coho or sockeye? SIO3
  6. It's Rend Lake spillway. We bulldogged em with 9 weight fly rods and saltwater flies. We hooked fish in there so big we had to break them off for fear of losing our rigs. Fly lines are expensive. We saw some of the beasts and they were either very large buffalo or flatheads. SIO3
  7. I've posted this link before. Me and a couple St. Louis guys have caught em pretty good with fly rods below spillways in IL. They hit it hard and pull like a bull. We used clousers and the more we went the harder they were to catch. We could still see them but they wouldn't bite. If you read the thread you'll see where guys went and got skunked. We used to catch real nice hybrids out of those areas but not anymore. Asian's pushed em out. Even the locals said they no longer catch hybrids in there. Take a look. We had days of twenty a piece and some over 3 feet long. http://www.ozarkchronicles.com/forums/view...5acc87e81e4d82f SIO3
  8. Testically, yes we are getting too testical. SIO3
  9. Thanks George. I thought I'd get at least a nibble on the daylight savings thing. But the bobber didn't even twich. SIO3
  10. Thanks, I forgot about that George . Man, I've loved this forum forever. SIO3
  11. Not one bite eh. Oh well, I tried. I thought it was kind of funny. A lady at the bus stop said they moved the time change back so we have more daylight. I couldn't for the life of me convince her that there was no more daylight time, just a change of the clock. Sorry, carry on. SIO3
  12. I think it's the later than usual daylight- savings time change. It used to change over this past weekend and now it's this coming Saturday night. SIO3
  13. Sounds like the trout got the better of Jeremy and he's stinging from it. It's okay to post a bad days report. SIO3
  14. I went to Bennett last week for a couple days. My question is. Do smokers know that cigarette butts are trash? There are litterally thousands of cigarette butts everywhere. The parking areas are covered with them. They float by me in the stream. It really is a shame. SIO3
  15. Nice!!!!!!!! Thanks. I have the number and will use it if need be. SIO3
  16. Thanks!!! That's a great report. SIO3
  17. I put a trolling motor on the side of a regular canoe. It gets the job done, but it's a hassle during the shuttle. We can stay in the good water longer and motor through the bad. BTW it works better towards the front of a regular canoe. SIO3
  18. I apologize. The guy at the counter said fishing closed Oct 31 but he probably meant regular season I'm sure. I did think it was strange that only RR was closed for the winter. I bet it's good, as are all the other parks in the winter. On another note. The guy behind the counter was real nice. He saw me staring at the map and offered help. Asked how we like to fish and I told him fly fish and he sent me to zone 2. But he also said you could flyfish anywhere in the park. Real nice!! SIO3
  19. The slow trip allowed us to sight see and drink coffee. The upper section by the store was almost shoulder to shoulder. RR is not open for CnR in the winter? Glad I went. I've fished the other parks for 45 years and this was the first trip to RR. If it was closer I would go more often. SIO3
  20. We camped at Tablerock State Park this weekend and since there were 4 units running we took the opportunity to check out RR for the first time. We got stuck behind 3 church buses on the way down and it took nearly an hour and a half to get there. It's a pretty park but we unknowingly hit the derby weekend so it was busy. I fished zone 2 and never took off the crackleback I started with. Fished from 11AM till 2PM and did well. Not as many fish as the other parks but they were cooperative. Saw some nicer fish up in the swimming area below the bridge but they were interested in spawning, not eating. Left them alone and fished the middle section, moving constantly. There were fish rising everywhere and if you got it in the right drift they would take it. Also had some come off the bottom and really whack it. Fun day and beautiful weather. SIO3
  21. Nice Bill!!!!!!!!! SIO3
  22. Thanks boys!! I called and they have sites available. Trying for this weekend. I won't be at the strip show, just daytime action for me. SIO3
  23. Anybody know about the availability of campsites at the statepark? Are they full this time of year? I want to head down next weekend. Thanks in advance. SIO3
  24. Thanks Cricket! We're heading down around the week of of Oct. 20, if the tailwaters in AR are still generating around the clock. Which BTW, I believe they will. I'll let you know what happens. I've fished the Niangua for years but not recently. I didn't know of any short floats and I don't like 8 milers when I'm trying to fish. Thanks again. SIO3
  25. Thanks everybody!!! How far is NRO from Bennett? SIO3
