  1. I'm not sure what it weighed BirdW. I caught it on a 9 weight and released it pretty quick.. I caught one probably half again as big as that one, a week or so before that pic was taken. It's head was at my belt and the tail almost touched the ground. It was a real brute on a fly rod. Only after I let it go did it dawn on me that it might be a record fish on 10 pound tippet. That's hardest fighting fresh water fish there is. Pete
  2. True dat!! SIO3
  3. No Problem Drath. That's the canoe launch access. It's decent fishing there. BTW, Sand Spring has allowed me to fish their access when I asked them. Pete
  4. I feel you Hotdawg. I was hesitant to post my recent video and had to scrutinize every frame in case something unacceptable might be there. Some Warriors are just looking for something to rip on. Post up the photos, it really is only fishing. Pete
  5. The bottom circle is public at the park. But the top circle is actually owned by Sand Spring Resort. Instead, go across 64 to the other side, which is not visible on your photo, and that is the access Oneshot is talking about. Hope this makes sense. Pete
  6. When we start getting into the big heads it seems the hybrids leave the area. Did you clean and cook them yourself OB? They will kill a fly in the spring. Call me I'll go. I won't eat em though... Pete
  7. I hear ya. I just got back and I'm ready to go again. I have a trip planned in late March to Taney but I'll probably go to Mountain Home again before then. Headed to Mr Lucky's for a beer later today... Pete
  8. Don't those two things ultimately result in a lack of female companionship? BTW, just doggin you Eric. when Jim and I catch them we pile em on the bank for the scavengers... Pete
  9. Read it again Tom. No threadfin this far north. Pete
  10. Post up some pics Jim. Pent up anger like that is usually the result of the lack of female companioship. That's just a guess though. Pete
  11. Nice!!! Any idea of the water temp? I caught my first asian while chasing hybrids. I've caught whites, largemouth, hybrids, drum, buffs, common carp, gar and asians all on a nine weight. They'll wear out your tackle that's for sure. Be prepared, someone will say that those fish don't take flies intentionally. I think they do. Thanks for the report. Pete
  12. I'm going to put this out there. I've seen Bennett and Taney actually have too many people for the amount of area fished. I mean when there are 150 people in the upper end around Thanksgiving there is no way NOT to crowd in. Same at Bennett in the prime months. Sometimes there are just too many people using the area. Also, if you are fishing the rebar chute and think nobody will wade in and start shuffling right in the middle you are living in dreamland. It's gonna happen. Not that you can't voice you opinion, but it's gonna happen. Pete
  13. Thanks everybody. Especially Eric. Hey Gmuddy and FT, the nice thing about The Royal 66 is they give free rides to your hotel and get your car there too. Yeah Rick, Jim filmed 41 minutes of the inside of his pocket. Ugliest trout you ever saw. Pete
  14. Upstream of Bull Creek on the north side. It's a great corn dog hole. Pete
  15. Thanks TC, it's what I do. Hey FT57, I hate to tell you that you would have ended up the same way with us. Pete
  16. Didn't mean to be offensive RC.. Yes, no. Used to years ago. Now it kind of signals the end of trout season for me. SIO3
  17. I met Jimmy Bag O Donuts at Qt for a trip to Mountain Home. When I arrived Jimmy was ready to go and already had his bag of donuts. We stayed at River Rock Inn. Mention the Fishing rate and get a room for $45 a night this year. They just took it over and are in the process of a rehab. Single rooms are done, double rooms have new beds and cable. Nice, clean and convenient. Weather, sunny and windy, BEAUTIFUL!!! Only bummer was wind blew up river all weekend. In my opinion that's the worst direction. Still a little snow on the road to Bull Shoals Dam Friday morning but it was melted by afternoon. Water was cold but no shad. Plenty of gulls even down at Rim Sloals. Water ran at Norfork Friday and saturday, off Sunday. Bull shut down all weekend. Woohoo!!!!! Gen schedule was updated and correct all weekend.. Went to BS Dam Friday and whacked em real good. Decent crowd but not bad. We had fish all day to 20 inches and it was great. Several times I would look for Jim while I played a fish only to see hime with one on. It was very good and everyone seemed to be catching fish. Threw buggers, scuds, softies, eggs and bacon and even some dries. Jim got cold toes (insert, I'm not catching anything) and wanted to leave. Meow.... Went to Fred's Fish House for dinner and then off to my favorite watering hole, the Royal 66 for beers and cigar. Hit Rim Saturady morninng and the place was empty. Woohoo!!! Although empty the fishing wasn't stellar but Jim caught a nice brown on a dry. Blue wing olives hatched all weekend everywhere we rent and I hated it. Trout slurping all around you but everything I threw at em looked like a battleship next to those little things. Went to BS dam for the afternoon and the good fishing there continnued. The crowd was a little bigger but they were clearing out about 4. Jim had a great day there with a nice 20 plus inch rainbow. I caught a buch of small fish but had one good one to make my day. A nice brown about 16 inches but fat as a football. Went to The Arena Sports Bar for a bacon, cheddar and jalapeno heart attack burger and beers. Sunday Norfork was shut down the first time in two days and when we arrived only one car in the lot. Woohooo!!! I struggled to catch a dozen small rainbows and one 14 inch brown all morning. At this point I was palying caddie for Jim and running the camera. The trip was great and so was the company. Click the link below for a short vid. If Phil can load it onto the report just PM on how to do it. Sorry about the shakey camera work it's a little Flip Video and it pick's up every movement. Pete
  18. I've had members of my own group do this. Most of which are trout park fisherman on their first trips to tailwaters. Although Taney is a pretty small area in comparison to the White. I just stand there and think to myself, why don't I just go on trips alone. SIO3
  19. If you are fishing tailwaters they are most definetly a very useful tool. Not so much at Blue Springs creek. SIO3
  20. I was going to hit FT up later today. John Berry said they got 7 inches or so and they are plowing, so the trip is on at this point. It's time like these that I miss my Yukon. Pete
  21. Thanks Rick. We were flexible so we decided to wait a week. Right now the roads look okay down to West Plains. I think they would be clear by tomorrow. Pete
  22. No Rick we bailed due to forecasted snow. I'm glad we didn't go it was below freezing and some snow. We are headed down there tomorrow morning. I hope the roads are clear, it's supposed to be real nice weather this weekend. Pete
  23. No problem hear OTF. Depends on who you are married to. Choose wisely grasshopper. Snagged
  24. I'm not vegan, I just happen to like tofu that resembles a chicken. I also form my hamgurger into patties that look like an ear of corn.
