  1. Whats the position? Location? Min Requirements?
  2. Meh on the Blue Cat, just remembered why I haven't had it in years. Good, clean, white meat just on the mushy side similar to crappie. Gotta find more White's and Walleye. Might even try a Kentucky.
  3. Man, black bass has been tough for me. I expected the bite to explode by now and it just hasn't...and now their really dropping the lake, 5" just today. I went out for a couple hours Tuesday and threw a jerkbait quite a bit but only caught 3, biggest was 4+ though. Still doing better main lake vs backs. Small cuts and bluff end type stuff. I've resorted to chasing crappie until the bass realize their not doing what their supposed to yet!

    Sad story

A topic I'm passionate about as someone who fell and broke my back 4 yrs ago. There is ONLY one safest way, and that's to use a life line and be connected from the ground up. I can't believe it took me breaking my back to learn a Prussic knot.
  5. I need to downsize and actually target them. Just picking them up on bass lures is getting a lot of missed fish. Got hit on a jerkbait yesterday 3 casts in a row, 4th cast hooked up with a 2lb white. September they were crushing 1/2oz redeyes and getting hooked, now not so much.
  6. Haven't had catfish in years either, it was always pretty low on my list but I caught a nice Blue today (crappie fishing) and thought what the heck. Dinner tomorrow.
  7. I havent had bluegill for a couple years, but last time we did we kept about 40 of them and took the time to fillet them...they make REALLY good fish taco's!
  8. Just had white bass for the first time in a LONG time, along with some Crappie caught yesterday. I liked it better than the crappie, much firmer meat, bigger flakes. Reminded me a little bit of Redfish actually. I will start keeping more of them, cut the red meat out and there was zero fishy taste at all. Will try them blackened next time. So my new order for favorite freshwater fish is: Walleye, White Bass, Crappie. Bluegill are on the list as well, ahead of crappie for taste and texture but I like bigger bites!
  9. Might wanna post a link the text is so small I can't read it.
  10. Nice meeting you today! Sorry the recommendation didn't work out on those couple coves...we didn't do very good either.
  11. Gonna get out for a few hours today, no idea what I wanna target yet. Whites, Blacks, Crappie???
  12. I was kidding! I thought your buck was clearly big enough that my post would have been taken in jest. It's bigger than any buck I ever took. That's what all the horn hunters say " he woulda been a shooter next year"

  15. Points, channels, backs? Have struggled to find any in the glaize.
  16. Holy chit, nice job on the whites WW! What-where-when?
  17. Just got off the water. Fishing is better.
  18. Midget Crab Wiggler...lol
  19. Tie on a plopper and you have both.
  20. what is your rod / reel / line set-up?
  21. These are banned in several states. The idea of sending a fire skyward on something that was built in China for pennies just seems like a bad idea. I have seen them come down and set something on fire several times.
  22. The pinchers break off their rage craws way to easy for the price. Dang bluegill pecks at a jig and you lose a claw.
  23. I'm color shading depth areas for free in Navionics, and getting 1' depth increments as well as dropping pins with notes. Pre impoundment is fine, the only real changes are the bottoms of channels that have silted mostly in the backs and I'm not interested in fishing those, I'm looking for edges, drop offs and flats and it works good enough for those. I'm getting better at finding new water by scanning the mapping from the couch, dropping pins on areas of interest and then hitting them with sonar and side imaging. It was pretty cool to pick some spots with my son, went out and hit some docks on a flat near a channel swing...idled past them with side imaging and saw fish so spun around and fished them and caught fish on the first 2 casts Wednesday.
  24. Wind can certainly enhance the bite in a location, but it's not the only factor you should consider. We point jumped some on Wednesday, pulled up to a couple windblown with flats and or channel swings nearby and caught fish as expected. Pulled up to others that looked similar above water with direct wind and couldn't get bit. Had those points that we caught fish from not been in the wind, we would have still caught fish, just maybe not as shallow or quite as many.
