  1. It is missouri....It will be winter, until it is summer. usually sometime in april that will happen. I dont think climate change or liberals really have much to do with it.
  2. That's awesome. Not yet, it shipped from Jackson 2 days ago. I'll post a review when I get it. I also ordered a bending branches angle classic paddle to go along with it. I'm curious if the little hook retriever is a gimmick or come in handy.
  3. Pick up garbage on the banks. That will help.
  4. Can you provide that quote?
  5. Admittedly the best way to listen to that garbage is on a bike so loud that you cant hear any of it.
  6. For the same reason that you ask your doctor about that growth on your back, and dont ask your local grocery store checker. Also, for Ted to refer to himself as a guitar player is quite the stretch. How bout "so called guitar player"? His best efforts nauseated audiences with "stranglehold". 🤢😴
  7. Fact.
  8. I haven't watched or listened to what Ted Nugent has to say on the topic, but we can safely say that his opinion on any scientific matter can be completely disregarded as ignorant.
  9. "a doctor at LSU has identified a previously unknown bacterium that causes CWD." "In the statement, officials say they want to make it clear that decades of research have provided abundant evidence that prions, which are misfolded proteins, are the infectious agent of CWD. They say the hypothesis is accepted by state agriculture and wildlife agencies across the country." One doctor says its a bacteria that causes CWD, while the rest of the scientific community thinks it is caused by prions? Sounds like clickbait. I am not going to hold my breath.
  10. That is why i do it too. I feel as though i get a better snap on my jerkbait/walkin baits. Also, I did realize that I am in the minority in that I bank fish/wade rivers quite a bit. This gives you even less room to point the rod towards the ground.
  11. I'm also a mono guy. I like 8-17# line depending on the situation. I like it for 2 reasons: 1. It lays on the surface of the water and you can see your line tick like a crappie thump. 2. It stretches and helps to keep treble hooked fished from coming off. I also like a slow floater with some suspend dots handy. Usually it make a perfect suspender you end up tearing the suspend dot into 3 or 4 tiny pieces. For various reasons you may want a floater, suspender, or sinker and lead dots allow you to have all 3. Probably against the grain here....but I'd suggest using a 5 and a half to 6 foot rod with a pistol grip. (Lews tp-1 target casting special is a good one). I actually use mostly a 20 year old bps tourney special 5ft 6 inch.
  12. Bps cranking sticks are a solid value imo, I think they're about 100 bucks. I have 2 that have hold up for several years now. I actually prefer a softer rod for most applications so I end up using them quite a bit.
  13. I'm raising a hunting dog! She sucks! Just kidding. She likes to pretend she's a hunter in the backyard, like a kid pretends to be superman fighting bad guys.
  14. I ordered it online. In fact it was difficult to come by. The first to orders I placed replied saying it was sold out, but i found one available that will ship directly from Jackson kayaks. I ordered though Delaware paddle sports. I called the guy and he said he a few on order in granite color that would ship from Jackson in mid february. Friendly Fella.
  15. Last night my thumb was faster than my brain when it hit "purchase" on that Jackson Bite. I really like the open floor plan. I had a strong preference for the pescador pro 12 because it had open front and back wells, as well as being so light. The jackson is about the same weight and had even more open space. Also it has little ridges up front to lay 4 rods up front horizontally. I dont much care for the little storage compartment up front on most of the kayaks. I have several dry bags that i use on my trips, so i prefer to keep them tied down to an open deck. That is a cool little boat, and at 799$ seems like a good deal for a cheapskate such as myself.
  16. Yes, Mr. Timinmo is very generous and is willing to sell me his extra canoe. I am happy to get back on the water so quickly!
  17. Sure I'll buy it. Your number is an 838 area code? I tried to text and got an invalid number immediately send back.
  18. I like the open floor design of the Jackson bite, and it's a super good deal at 800$.
  19. Sure I'm very Interested. Idk why I'm not able to send you a message directly, but feel free to email me directly at mjkeene86@gmail.com
  20. Dang solo canoes are expensive! I'm trying to keep it under 1000.
  21. A tandem canoe is for 2 people correct? That's what my old one was. I did it by myself all the time. I'd put a big case of water up front in addition to my gear to weigh down the front end. I'd lay 4 rigged up rods on the bars that are supposed to be used for carrying it on your shoulders and my backpack full of tackle in front of me. It worked well for the last 15 years, but it was heavy and awkward. I am seriously considering a small canoe now. My poor destroyed old boat.
  22. I like the Jackson bite alot as well. The open storage in front and back is what I'm looking for. Seems like too many have open in the back and a sealed box in the front. Regarding a solo canoe... I didnt even consider one until now. I'm gonna be looking at those now too!
  23. Thanks for all of the replies. 12 footer it is then. I'll check out the various brands mentioned. One concern is being able to store a few rods horizontally but I think I can rig something up. Seems like all the yak rod holders stick straight up in the air. That would cause me all kinds of trouble.
  24. I'm looking to get a new fishing kayak for camping/fishing the small rivers around here. I've always used, in the past, an aluminum canoe (ouachita 17ft I think). Unfortunately a tree limb fell on it and crushed the front end in! I'm going to try to fix it, but that was just the excuse I needed to get a fishing kayak. My question is this, is a 10 footer enough to camp overnight 1 or 2 nights? Or should I opt for the 12 footer? Also suggestions/reviews are welcome. I'm not used to worrying about space as it was always just me in a giant canoe, now I gotta plan a bit better. I'm leaning towards a perception pescador pro either 10 or 12 foot.
  25. For those purists who really want the "flavor of the fish" put the whole thing in a bowl and microwave for a few minutes. Or do like the nordic folks and bury it in the sand for 6 months dig it up and enjoy.
