  1. Just wait til some pro wins a huge tournament with one.
  2. Order placed. 😁 thanks!
  3. Thanks for the info. Guess ill add a few to the arsenal.
  4. Reef Runner Rip shads? How do those compare to flicker shads in your opinion? I have never used them.
  5. Bet that big catfish caught you by surprise!
  6. Good for you to be able to run all those lines at once without making a mess of it. I cant even manage two rods at once.
  7. Lots of different opinions here probably. I have mostly pfluegar and diawa spinning reels, no complaints out of either. Worth noting....spinning reels dont really do that much. They just need to be comfortable, have smooth drag, and be reliable. 100-200 seems expensive for a spinning reel. Id choose a 50-100$ reel and take the extra $$ and put it towards the rod budget.
  8. Fished with the family out of kimberling city a few hours thursday and friday morning. Water temp was low to mid 80s, thermocline about 20 foot or so. Found bass, bluegill, and 2 keeper walleye suspended 15-20ft down in 150-200fow over structure. Crawlers worked best. Couldnt get fish to eat a spoon or keitech.....but they bit worms readily even though the ones we were catching were spitting shad less than 2 inches long. Also found bass and bluegill on a gravel runnout just off the bottom. Caught a few smallies, with 1 good keeper with a 16th oz jig and small craw imitation. Crawler worked best though. Very typical pattern for this time of year. Didn't get a chance to troll crankbaits but that would also work quite well im sure.

  10. Ive never eaten one but am curious to try. How do you clean one? Do they fillet up like a crappie or walleye?
  11. Always been tons of drum since ive been fishing there. I think they are lots of fun to catch! When you're dragging crankbaits around they will practically pull the rod out of your hand.
  12. Lower meremeac walleye are suckers for crankbaits (all walleyes are i guess). If you throw deep diving cranks all day on the lower end you will eventually stumble on em. Stay on the bottom...youll lose lots of cranks, i like flicker shad 7 and 9s on spinning gear. Ive caught em at...the 141 riffle, the rock ledge south off 44 by powder valley, and the bend where old gravois road crosses. Ill bet they are everywhere though and in higher abundance than most people realize. I still have never had a day where i caught 4 in a day like hog wally. Its usually 1 or 2 along with bass and drum and whatever else you happen to catch in the meremac around st louis. (Bass, walleye, crappie, drum, hepatitis, catfish, sunfish, and who knows what else.)
  13. It sure seems like walleye in TR are doing quite well. There have been lots of reports this year.
  14. NIce catching! Couple of really nice ones. I waded a small section of the big around Terre du lac last saturday, fished about 4 hours with 2 inch swimmin minnow. Caught probably 50 or more fish, but all dinks (mix of SM, LM, longear, bluegill, green sunfish, and a crappie). I love fishing the river this time of year, the water stays so much cooler than lakes, it can make a 100 degree day quite tolerable.
  15. Man how can you look at that dog and not smile.
  16. This is par for the course of republicans! Beat your kids and grab the women by the....where ever she happens to be bleeding out of. That sounds like a good 2020 campaign slogan!
  17. Right or wrong those fellers done well.
  18. Gills will suspend on the bridge pilings around kimberling city usually around 15-25 feet deep, even though its about 190 feet deep. Maybe too free with information here...but the second piling from the north side of the bridge is usually the most productive for me. Its about 180-200 fow with the old bridge about 100 feet down. Lots of bluegills there, and also lots of spotted and smallmouth bass to spoon up there as well. The middle piling is also good for me, but for some reason i dont understand very well the southern most pilings are not that productive, at least in my experience. Point 7, and the points at the mouth of schooner creek are also just chock full of bluegills, the trick is finding them, but when you do, you can load the boat. Usually out off the point, on the bottom in 15-30 fow. Thats where i can normally find them, but i would imagine any gravel you find at the right depth will have some. As i mentioned in another thread, if you have a finder, you will see squiggly lines right off the bottom...those are the big bluegill. Crawlers and live bait work best, but small crappie jigs, and tiny jigging spoons will also catch em. Fish vertical with a small jig or split shot rig, drop bait to the bottom, reel up 2 cranks, and just hold the bait there. Hopefully you can get those grand kids on some fish.
  19. A chunk of night crawler about an inch and half long threaded up a #4 or #6 bait hook will work just as well if you cannot find or do not wanna deal with crickets.
  20. dead horse topics on the table rock forum.... Is this an old wiggle wart or a new one? How do I tell? How does one properly use a ned rig? Meat fisherman are just destroying the fishery at table rock! Why doesnt the MDC stock bass in table rock? and of course....dead bass at a weigh in...outrageous!!
  21. Im guessing the walleyes ate a crankbait?
  22. Ive had no issues with my downrigger rods, but bps has some crappie trolling rods that seemed about perfect for it....good lengths, and very soft actions.
  23. Can you define keyboard warrior for me? Also, like most folks I know i dont really want to die at all, lonely or not. Also...you may not want kids if a stranger on the internet can upset you that much...a 5 yr old saying "daddy" 38 times in 10 minutes will really drive you nuts.
