Still liking it and learning, using mostly downscope which gives me 24 ft width in 20 fow, the fore and aft view is about 8 ft so sometimes a little difficult to keep the jigs in that rectangular cone. Good clarity on the jigs even as they fall, its absolutely nuts to watch the fish come over to investigate it, sometimes they're in the mood and sometimes not. On the breaks you can actually see the slope on your screen. I need to master the fwd look, believe if trolling w/ a roadrunner or crankbait that is weighted in front and directing the livescope behind the boat you should be able to see the fish approaching your lure. If they stall out just move it towards them to encourage the strike. Should know be summer. I have a 73 cv with it, wanted the 93sv but bass pro ran out and wouldn't give a raincheck, but don't use sideview and the 73 seems adequate at the depths I frequent. Will be at the lake tomorrow and Tuesday, if I can find clearer water, and will probably try Friday, I look for 45 degrees and winds 12 or below.

down Sons creek past Greaser creek. Put in a little after 11 am, marked fish in 22-24 fow just like usual, dropped double jig set, moved it, strolled it, lifted and dropped it, even yelled at it a coupla times, Notta. Wasted about 90 minutes trying to coax a bite out of them. Swung down to greaser, much less mud on south bank just past the first corp brush pile. 22 fow, short walleye. Then a 12 inch crappie, coupla shorties, another 12 ,3 more shorties, an 11 incher then another short eye. Gave the 3 crappie to the neighbors. Had to turn the gain down quite a bit for all the clutter that came into the lake. Me thinks crappie get lockjaw when mudded up. Look for cleaner water.

Hope that works well for you Dutch. Sometimes progress in technology is good. Still using a flip phone though. Wife seen me throw my new smart phone and took it back. Don't miss it. Just saying

just by watching is an old Yogi Berra ism, and it applies to the livescope. I learned a couple of things this week, such as don't use chrome split shot above your chrome jigs, the white bass go up to them and even hit them. Explains a lot of pecks. And I watched the crappie positioning under the jig as it was passing about 10 foot deep headed for 22, actually caught it on the drop. The Royals could use some outfielders with those instincts. Just saying.

day Wednesday, some gusts reported at 24mph. Fought it from 11 to 4, caught a ton of short crappie, finally one 14 incher, one 15 inch walleye, and while I was trying to get the bow back into the wind, a 24 inch walleye, 25 fow on the break, minnow tipped jigs. Thursday the whites were hitting on the bottom in 22-24 fow, did manage 4 nice crappie, wind maybe 4 mph, boat management easy, nice day, probably 25 decent whites.

Have had the livescope out 3 times. 1st time 5 good white bass and a short crappie. Second time 15-20 crappie, mostly short. 3rd time, today, over 30 crappie, again mostly short. I'm liking it best in down view. Have seen the fish come off the bottom in 20 fow and as far as 8 ft away to take the jig. They seem to close on the jig pretty quickly, but sometimes loiter 5-15 seconds before they thump it, and sometimes they just leave. Need to learn more about the fwd view. Quite entertaining and promising. Also in this clear water they are preferring a chrome jig head.

Better half bought me a Livescope for Christmas. Bout had a heart attack. Then we scrambled to find a compatible Garmin, Bass Pro was all out of the 93sv's but we found an Echomap 73cv with ice fishing small package included, used, so I will try to sell the ice fishing kit to some dock fisherman as I've not seen safe ice in SW Mo for years. Then the set up process began. Kinda mimicked Fle Flys portable rig so I could move the screen closer to the center of the ol Super Guide for winter fishing. I kinda copied Poleducers set up for mounting the transducer. Everything fit in an Academy box w/ room for the surplus cabling. I bought a 12 volt 18ah AGM battery which fits nicely in the box. I did install the regular transducer on the TM. Will sell the Humminbird 798 ci HD si that I had up front. Dying to try it out, hopefully Monday or Tuesday. Hoping there isn't too much of a learning curve.

My chimp incident happened when I was about 12. Dad took me to the Springfield zoo, which had a chimpanzee. The sucker spit on me. Hit me in the left ear, which was infected within two days, crusted over and required a visit to Dr. My only other phobia is tall bridges and buildings, and I have over 5000 hrs of flight time. Go figure.

Kinda suspicious, that appears to be a kayak on a very clear freshwater stream, which would be congruous w/ your location in SE Mo, and further examination of the included kneecap kinda lends one to thinking thou might have been smuggling walnuts instead of actually fishing!! Just saying.

Hooked at around 9 am on fire tiger crank bait, released at around 11 a.m. Official scale said 201.3 but allowed 6 for overalls, boots and jacket. Not a legal catch, actually snagged him, in the left index digit, wife identified him as a red nosed pouter, and being a Missouri Master Naturalist, she should know. Could be a record for Stockton Lake but I doubt it for Missouri. Did tag him with a current Tetanus booster. Personal worst.

on here. Shoulda wrote earlier but forgot my password. Doc says it could be dain bramage. Went Thursday and caught too many blue gill , 2 short eyes and one 22 incher, and 2 channel. Went again this morning and seen a lot more traffic on the lake, 3 more eyes, one was legal, a 19 incher, a keeper crappie and the most fun of the week, a 4 lb channel on a bottom bouncer, no give up to them. The cooler weather was sweet. Done a little yard work at ye olde cabin, smoked a pork shoulder and didn't watch any news or politics. Battery seems recharged. Oh yeah, 18-20 fow, 1.5 mph, Sac river arm, flicker rigs, lil guys, and a flicker shad w/ fwd weight. 5 fish will be released, to the grease, at a date TBD. oghfm

Caught a 24 inch walleye sunday and another today, both on firetiger flicker shad in 11 to 13 fow. Also picked up 5 crappie. The water had a lot of surface crud Sunday but it was gone today and some drum had moved in. Had smoked walleye last night, first time we'd tried it. Made a slit in the meaty part of the fillet, stuffed some butter in it and drizzled some honey over the fillet, smoked it with apple wood at 225 degrees for two hours on a cedar plank. It was quite flavorful, but will try a little seasoned salt or Cavenders on it next time. Keep Safe.

was my day. 4 crappie-4 walleye-2 channel cat. 11-16 fow, firetiger and sunset(reddish) flicker shads, 1.6 mph, Ocean Potion sunscreen, on the lake at 6-off at 9, cleaned by 10, sausage eggs and strawberries at 11.

It doesn't, but is great for drum.

much earlier in the day. Kept pounding the same area cause I didn't want to get to far from the ramp and had been catching some really nice crappie in one area. Picked up 3 pretty quickly then zilch for over 2 hours. I'm using the old Arky traveler with just the electric troller cause I don't want to beach the Super Guide, so things move slowly. Any how I decided to go across the lake and try a different flat. Found em, 18-20 deep, still wanted the black and chartreuse, picked up 7 in about 2 hours..Mostly males but the big sows are nearly ready. Everything 12-14 inches. Also kept 3 whites for a couple I mow for. Lots of folks out, a fellow in a kayak had found several morels. Stay safe.

Snuck up late yesterday, on water just after five. Fishing buddy always complains I have advantage in front seat of boat so gave it to him. He broke it and done a nose dive to floor within 5 mins. Saw it coming, told him so and he still done it, go figure. Caught 18 before dark, 11-13 inches, they preferred black and chartreuse, 13-16 fow, slow stroll. Asked fishing buddy how many he had and he says 8 so I tossed my last one back. Went to clean them and he had 9, says I told you the front seat was better!! Since the restaurants are closed and he can't buy breakfast anymore I may consider leaving him at home!! Or not.

I'm sure glad I didn't mention that the sheep that were lying down. Coulda got nasty quickly. And I don't take responsibility for this thread, Dutch is the guilty culprit. Just saying.

I have gone four times since the Super Bowl. Found crappie on flats near channels , 24-28 fow shadowing lines of shad 4-6 foot off the bottom. Nice fish, no shorts, fairly light bumps but I tip w/ minnows this time of year so they'll hold on longer. 3 limits, mostly 11-12 inches, until yesterday, don't know if it was low pressure or the cows laying down in the fields but they had lockjaw. Left early, stopped by gun shop on way home, then sat in big chair and brooded the rest of the day. Boat is serviced and loaded, new line on, jigs and skirts organized, just watching the waves of weather for and opportunity to get the skunk off.

Sons creek was clear at noon today, and over run with white pelicans

was cooperating with us this weekend. Boated 18 on jugs set in 4 fow. Set 6 jugs about 3 pm Thurs and had 3 within 2 hours. Set the remaining 12 and had 8 more Fri morning. 1.5 to 7 lbs. Had a family fish fry on Sat and told them they were walleye. Some of the family aren't the brightest bulbs on the Christmas tree. OGHFM

open yesterday (Friday)

Got to the cabin about 2 pm Friday, mowed and trimmed the lawn, fixed a couple of jug lines then hit the lake about 5. Trolled flicker shad and the birdwatcher (my wife) caught a 19 inch walleye in about 5 ft of water. Put out juglines while disguising my pouting. Got them out by 6 and started dragging FS again. She boated another eye in 6 ft of water while watching the flock of pelicans. darn. Finally limped the boat toward the ramp and she caught another keeper while watching some cloud formations. Went back to cabin and cleaned her darned fish while pouting. Got up at dark thirty and asked her if she wanted to go. Nope. Heres my chance me said. One short walleye. Did get 5 channel cat, but got finned twice, plus the remote for my trolling motor quit. Got it kinda operating enough to rebait the jugs Sat evening but HER walleye bite had ended. 2 more channel though. Sunday morning another NOPE, only 2 channel cat before the rain started. Came home and she made me watch the Chiefs lose. Still pouting. OGHFM

Nice drum Dan. Ha The smallies a toad.

I'm originally from Eldo, which probably explains my dain bramage. Don't drink the iron infused spring water, it'll turn your hair white.

Ken's is 3 miles from THE CABIN and we have a late breakfast there frequently, always good biscuits and gravy.
