Put in at Roark and fished multiple brush piles again. Bite was on and off. We caught about 40+ crappie and brought home 17 11” or better. Bite was very light using Bobby garlands in blue/silver with silver flakes. White jig head worked best. Was a beautiful day to be on the lake. 18-23 ft was the best depth for what we caught. Hope others had some luck to, please share what worked for you today! May be awhile before have another nice day like today, here’s hoping we do!

Fished Wednesday out of Roark had some success fishing brush piles in 14-30 ft of water. We caught close to 50, most were shorts, brought home 13. Was just using Bobby garlands with 1/16 ounce jig heads. Dropping down to brush pile then reeling up very slow. Not all brush produced. Was a good day, most I had caught in quite awhile. Water temp was 46-47. Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving

I had good luck with Bobby garlands in the blue thunder(lam) color in the original baby shad a couple of weeks ago when it was cloudy gray overcast. Just went down to the brush and reeled up very slow and they were hitting them pretty good for a bit

92 17.5 ft skeeter with a 2001 135 horse mercury. Pics are when I got it last year. Since put different trolling motor on it, 70lb thrust and upgraded fish finders to 9” garmin at wheel and 7” on the bow, side imaging etc.

Went up Saturday and put in at Roark. We had some success fishing brush piles and caught some crappie, mostly shorts in 15 ft of water. Jugs worked better than minnows. Caught a few bass on cranks and a few whites. Caught my first smallmouth around Roark area, had only caught them up by old state park before. All in all about 20+ fish for the day. Was better than it had been. About had the Laje to ourselves.

Sounds like a great time was had by all. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Anyone have any advice for finding walleyes this time of year? I am still trying to figure them out. Have caught them in the past on crankbaits, but was not trying to catch them. Is bottom bouncing still a viable way to find them? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thx

Not been in a few weeks, planning on going this Saturday. Have they gone deeper? The ones I caught a few weeks ago were in 25 ft, but caught them about 10 ft down . I was thinking the cooler weather might cause them to go deeper.

Caught the crappie down about 8-10 ft over 26-30 ft of water around stobbs bass was caught on bagley shad pattern in shallow water right off the bank, the bass were just knocking the snot out of it.

Had some luck Sunday morning up birch branch, crappie nite was slow but caught a few keepers then stopped at power line cove and caught a few bass. On water at sunrise off by 11:30 am. Not a lot but better than it had been. Hope others had better luck! Lake is lower than I have ever seen it. Be careful out on it

Only thing I can tell you is with the hot weather we had and the lake level dropping like it has they have been very tough for me to find. Last year was a much better year as we would catch them each trip, this year has not been the case. As temps cool hopefully things will pick up. Hope that helps and good luck to you

Thanks for the information, gonna head up early this weekend and hope the cooler weather makes a difference

Late posting this, went up to lake last Saturday and fished up birch branch. We were able to catch some crappie using shiners about 10-12 ft down. Bite was very light and had my minnow stolen without even seeing or feeling a bite. Caught more shorts than keepers. Was curious if anyone else has experienced the same bite as we did. By 10:30 am they were shut down. Least we caught a few for the skillet!

Caught some up birch branch last Saturday, just drift fishing with trolling motor down about 15 ft out in the middle on minnows. Rain last week kind of messed things up though with the wind etc. but they were there

For me it is all about the knowledge learned, sure catching them is great, but to learn how to do it consistently and knowledge of technics etc is worth more than a few more fish. I fish with a me against them attitude. Figure out a pattern and go from there. As they say give a man a fish , feed them for a day, teach a man how to fish, feed them for a lifetime. Guess it just depends on why one likes to fish. I enjoy the challenge and matching wits with the fish.

Sounds like you had a great day of fishing! I tried all I could Saturday b b etc, to no avail , finally gave up and just fished for bass. Guess I am not holding my mouth right as my Dad always said, lol. One of these trips I will get it right, they say practice makes perfect.

Went up last Friday night to try some evening/night fishing, all we could produce on b b was a few crappie and bass, tried a light after dark and nada drawn in. Fall and cooler temps will be here soon and if like last year, bite will improve. Good luck all this weekend

Thx for the information, heading up Saturday to give it a try again, hopefully the cooler weather will improve the fishing

Sounds like a fun day, white bass hit and fight as hard as any fish. Just curious where did u run into them at? I have found them like that up above Roark and in coves above old state park before. I’ll take catching them any time!
