A really nice rainbow! Would you be willing to elaborate on your double scud rig? I am envisioning a three fly rig with the anchor fly replaced with a piece of shot. Am I on the right track? Is the anchor in the middle or bottom of the rig? Thanks!

I was tempted but I couldn't figure out what to throw. I love Crane Creek but I don't get down there often enough. My only frame of reference on the caddis hatch was on a cloudy warm and humid day in March many years ago. It was on the verge of raining all day long with almost no wind. I was fishing the middle section and the trout were blasting three feet out of the water chasing the emerging caddis. It was quite a show. I don't know if that was a fluke or normal for Crane. I know some bugs won't hatch if it's sunny.

First time to fish down stream from the railroad bridge. They were liking a #16 Copper John. Saw an occasional March Brown hatch off in the afternoon. Late afternoon there was some surface action. fish were keying on some kind of micro midge. too small for me to see! A beautiful day.
