  1. Only way he I will bow my "hillbilly-dom" to him is if he was sitting on the cooler of beer, in the back of one of the non-running pickups sitting in his yard and had his daughter fetch the doves for him while he his dog watched from under the front porch.
  2. How did the Dove hunting go? I havent been hunting for a few years but I used to hunt Doves, Ducks, Quail and Pheasant a lot. If I lived in a better area for it I could seriously get into Duck hunting. You are certainly in a great place for the migrations.
  3. What brand of fly lines is a good choice for fishing Taney and Bennett? I assume there are only a few manfacturers of fly line so it would follow that some lines are premium lines just because of the hype in advertising. There are a lot of line brands out there, all of which of course are "The Best", what I am trying to figure out which brand is the best buy for the dollars invested. Any suggestions?
  4. Whats up with the jumping spoonbill? I am seeing more and more of that all the time. I dont recall seeing much of it in years past. Makes me wonder if some mad scientist has been genetically crossing 'bills with those bighead carp or something.
  5. I havent heard anything about it. If it is true; that is one big Hybrid. Be about like catching a Mack Truck.
  6. Spent the day on Stockton Lake. The fishing was great but the catching was really slow. Caught 3 Marble Eyes about 10 to 12 inches long and one crappie about 14 inches. I threw everything from jigs to crank baits at them in several different colors. Best color of the day seemed chartuse. Even though the catching was slow the weather was great and the day on the lake was unbeatable.
  7. What are your favorite flies for catching Brown Trout at Taney and/or Bennett Springs?
  8. I was just joking around about cooking trout. If we were to have to eat what we catch I am sure some of us, probably me, would get hungry. I am looking forward to this. Meeting some of the people I talk to on here should be a blast. Bud
  9. Marty: As usual another great report. When do you think the fall walleye and crappie fishing will peak in Stockton? You are right there are way to many carp in Stockton. The question is how to get people to fish for them and then what to do with them after they are caught.
  10. We are going trout fishing so why dont we eat trout? Of course we would have to hijack someone to cook them. Maybe get some of the guys to bring their girlfriends.
  11. Snagged: I dont know how but I missed this post. Sorry I didnt reply sooner. I have been through Basalt but have never fished there. I bet it is a blast. I have never been to Ho-Humm. Do the people at Ho-Humm allow wader access? Do they charge a fee or how does it work? I don't live far from Bennett so anytime you want to hook up and give them a try let me know. I am only about an hour from Taney. I like to go there in the fall and winter. Stockton is only about 45 minutes from where I live. I have learned that there is some great wade/fly fishing there. White bass, crappie, small mouth, bluegill and an occasional walleye keep it interesting. Last spring I caught a channel that weighed about 7 lbs. Made things interesting for a few minutes. Gas prices are a killer. Sure has put a damper on the distance I can afford to drive to go fishing. gonefishin
  12. Parking lot by the swimming pool works for me.
  13. Hey Okie. Hows it going. Lotsa good people here. Jump in and get yer feet wet. Where at in OK? I have a really good friend in Wyandotte. Not sure if I spelled that right. Him and I fish Grand Lake and the Neosho regularly.
  14. Sounds great to me I will plan to be there.
  15. What is the creel limit for Trout in Arkansas? Why in the world would they make it illegal to use common carp and bullhead as bait fish?
  16. Good question. I don't think I could really offer a good opinion on on the fit to finish of one rod over the other. I buy equipment based on different criteria. I want a rod that is reasonably light to hand, casts well, handles fish well, doesnt break the first time a bluegill hits the lure and protects the tippet. If I bought a rod for looks I would have to worry about scratching it or someone stealing it. Those are worries I dont want on the stream/lake. I dont own a TFO rod yet but have looked at them and they would fit my needs nicely. My next new rod purchase will be a TFO. JMHO
  17. I think this post was just a drive by bashing.
  18. That is a problem I havent heard of. What weight lines are you using? I use a blood knot to tie mine. I havent had any problems.
  19. Great pics. I bet that was a wonderful trip. I dream about making a trip like that sometime.
  20. HMMmm. Ok, let me get this right. You are arguing that guts are not part of the bilolgy of Bennett therefore are garbage. You also argue that trout are not part of the biology of Bennett therefore they (trout) must also be garbage?? Is this correct? Just pestering you Wayne. Seriously the guts issue has never bothered me. As you pointed out trout are not natural to the river and they are especially not natural in the numbers there are in there. I think the guts actually help the resource by feeding the trout. I dont think putting them all in one location is a good answer because that would not only create a mess it would also attract a large portion of the avialable fish to one small area. JMHO Bud
  21. I up for it just say when.
  22. A person should not have with those types of issues on the streams. As with most things the law won't will really do anything about it until there are a number of serious confrontations with serious injuries. Its a shame that people let theirselves get out of hand like this. Everyone should be able to enjoy the outdoors with out having to deal with a bunch of hoodlums.
  23. SHHHhhhh....Be beawy beaawy quiet...Everyone must be huntin wabbits. Hello........hello...........hello My voice echos around in the vast emptiness of OA HMmmm. apparently no one here. Guess I will go fishin.
  24. I'll plan to be there.
  25. I hate trying to tie a complicated knot with cold wet stiff fingers and hands. For me simple and proven are the knots of choice. I use the improved clinch knot probably 75% of the time but, when I get down to lines that break at 3 lbs or less then I prefer a Palomar knot. Both knots are simple and effective, what else do I need?
