  1. Are the gates open already?
  2. I hope no flooding this year. The folks on Taney and Lilley's have had enough grief the last few years. Flooding is one of the main reasons I sold my place on Taney. We are planning our annual trip to Lilley's for next month and don't want to be fishing on the retaining wall.
  3. If the water is off go to the dam and fly fish. You can read about all the different flies to use on here. We mainly fish there with fly rods and micro jig under a float. Lilley's shop has all you will need. Remember no bait or soft plastic above fall creek. You can still do hard baits and we do well on rapalas and jigs up there. Cleos are also good but you will catch mainly stocker on them.
  4. Glad to hear you got through it without a problem.
  5. Anybody heard from Phil how they made out?
  6. Very good video Phil. You should edit a bunch of them together with different methods, put some music on them and sell them to first timers in the shop. A lot of good technique on the video.
  7. JW, anytime on Taney and staying at Lilley's is great. I have fished Taney since 1973 and there are time that all of us have tough days. I had two of them last August. Hang in there and take perch up on the offer. Also post next time you are going a week or so ahead and I am sure there will be other Taney veterans who will there. Also, spend some time talking to Phil. He is a Taney encyclopedia.
  8. Great video Phil. Refreshing to watch an instructional but entertaiing fishing show without a commercial. You should be on TV but the ad boys wouldn't like it.
  9. Go below the dams at Winfield, Alton and Clarksville.. you can fish Alton from the bank.
  10. That was awesome. If you guys really did all that stuff you should make a tv show. That was better than any fishin show on the air now. Some of the pictures reminded me of some of our old local shows from the 60's and 70's. p.s. can I go with you next time?
  11. I thought it was still open when I when went to Lilley's in August.
  12. When? That's too bad it was a good place and a landmark on rte 66 for sure.
  13. We got some kind of special rate from UMR when we stayed there. I tried the number on the site but it must have been changed. Call directory assistance and give them a call. I guess the steakhouse is still open. I don't think I have ever had a better strip steak anywhere. If you are going to Montauk you can always stay in the park when it's open and eat at the lodge or get a cabin at Reeds and cook in. We have done all of them.
  14. I always stay at Zeno's in Rolla. The rooms are clean and they have a great steakhouse on site. Right on I44 south service road.
  15. Do you know if there are any proposals for Clearwater Lake near Piedmont?
  16. Phil, is the lake cam still going to be up?
  17. Phil said: " I really want OA to be THE site to go to for fishing information in the Ozarks." Phil, I think it already is. Most informative fishing site I have visited, most accommodating members for information and now it's even better. Well done. Also, will you still have the lake cam?
  18. We fished them on a drift rig and it worked great then and now.
  19. My first trip there was 1973 and there were very few houses on the upper end also very few boats. We rented a jon boat from the old Roark Creek Resort and put my 5hp Sears motor on it. Took forever to get up as far as Lilley's. I still have the flat fish lure I bought for that trip and still use it once in a while. We did catch some nice ones in those days.
  20. For some reason I can only see a red x where the picture should be.
  21. Phil, I was able to log in and post with no issue. Thanks the new site will be good.
  22. Best fishing in the ocean I ever had was off the Kona Coast. We found a Japanese fishing net floating in the water and began to circle it. For four hours it was non stop mahi mahi, ono and tuna. All after the bait fish attracted to the net. The marlin were circling the outside of the net area picking off the mahi and tuna. we caught about 1000 pounds of fish which included a 400 lb marlin and a bunch of 40-50 lb mahi and ono with some great ahi tuna. So debris in the ocean is a fisherman's dream. We had the place to ourselves for a couple of hours and then the crowds showed up.
  23. Those are some good looking fish. My brother used to have a 3 ac pond on his place and it was loaded with 12 and 13 inch gills. Absolute blast on a fly rod or ultra light. Did those gills get a swim in some hot grease?
