  1. When I asked the guy who answered the phone, he quoted me numbers on how much he pays in taxes and such which I found odd. Then he said he thought $30 would be about correct. And to mention that price when I came so they knew how much to charge me. I guess they've never considered just plain access to the river before without canoe rental or lodging.
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. I got ahold of them today. I didn't realize they would charge so much to access the river though. I might just do the float instead like usual.
  3. I was wondering if anybody knows if there is any kind of an access around the Falls on the White River. I floated by there 2 years ago and saw some kind of a building there. I was wondering if that is some kind of an access or not? Thanks.
  4. Why would anybody go that speed across a wake? I'd also like to know why the video says he was in the water for 10 minutes when the boat filming was right next to him. But yes you should always wear a life jacket and use a kill switch.
  5. Possibly a Rooster Tail type bait, Spinnerbait?
  6. It's definitely doable. I've dragged kayaks and canoes over that dam many times. Go up the right side and you will be fine. There's lots of good sized bass up there. A nice little spring/creek holds lots of fish if you can keep from spooking them, especially when the water temp gets up during summer months.
  7. That's a nice looking bunch of fish. Congrats. It sounds like you had them patterned down.
  8. I caught one which looks real close to that size a week ago and it was 21 pounds. But it's a hard pic to tell much on.
  9. I've never heard of such a club, it must be real small. Maybe somebody else will have some info for ya.
  10. What's the face mask for?
  11. I used to see one of that size on the James River every year for about 3 years in a row right above HWY 125 bridge. It was always in the same pool of water also. Big fancy goldfish.
  12. This sounds like a good deal, but if I got it, it would just sit and only be used almost never. It'd be handy though.
  13. Yeah they are pretty much done here in SWMO. I hunt them daily for the entire season every year, and have a lot of morel beds I check. I found 3 yesterday and 1 rotten today. There are still spots out there that have them, but most will be to bad to find or eat. Right now your best bet to find fresh morels is checking big oak trees on north facing hills. Like was mentioned above, 80 degrees and they are done.
  14. Nice, you might be surprised at what can be found along the banks. I got several hundred lures on my barn wall of fishing lures I've found on the lake. The best trip I ever had was over 40 hard plastic baits.
  15. Nice story, That's whats fascinating about finding points, is wondering about their story of how they got where they are. So do you got a picture of it? Or your collection. Me and my boys do lots of point hunting. My 7 year old has they exact story from a couple months ago after the last big flood on the James River. It's 4 inches of awesomeness.
  16. Is it just me, or has this season been the worst ever for a white bass run. I don't remember it ever being as slow as this year.
  17. I'll admit to eating a few bass a year, but even someone like myself that likes to eat fish of all species, would NOT try to catch a fish off a bed. If I was a strict C&R guy, there is no way I could reason in my mind that fishing for bedding fish is fine. It just blows my mind that strict C&R people can justify catching a bass on the bed.
  18. So did you end up catching much? Or was you just a one and done poster?
  19. Wow, bad deal. I'm glad to hear you are safe, if there was a current when it happened, you are lucky you didn't get hurt. At least you got your yak back. Me and my boy are gonna be down there today and will keep an eye open for ya. It won't be the first time to find a tackle box or fishing rod lost in the water.
  20. I caught some last summer trotlining around Kimberling City Bridge and up into Aunts creek near the state park. It wasn't a lot, but they were consistent.
  21. Above Shelvin Rock Access there is a nice big pool of water right below a real shallow riffle. It's less than a mile from the access upstream and it can be an excellent spot for snagging from the bank. Another spot to try is just below the mouth of the Finley river, it holds spoonbill also.
  22. If there were, I'm sure RSbreth would know and will chime in. I doubt they were caught there.
  23. Wow that's a good fishing trip. I wish I knew what you do, lol. That's a spot you don't want to let out.
  24. I would take someones mean words over a lightning strike anyday. And not feel guilty one bit.
  25. There is no other launch points that I'm aware of than those 2. But you could use that same Google map and start finding private owners close to where you wanna fish and ask them.
