  1. I'm not going to get myself drawn into an argument like soo many on here like to do. I'm not on here to do that. I'm on here to get along with everyone and also report and look at reports. I'm not angry or bitter towards someone who keeps "some" fish to eat or some who want to make a competition out of fishing. I wouldn't mind doing it myself if I was talented enough to compete like some of you. I was just stating my opinion that someone from Kansas or wherever probably kills no more fish on their vacation than someone who is out there everyday fishing. If they were short fish that's one thing, but if they're keeping a couple or their limit to enjoy then I don't see the problem. Other than that it bugs the tournament fishermen or someone who makes a living off of fishing. Once again if they had short fish or had twice their limit I say sink their boat and make em swim. It aggravates me as well to see people break regulations. Oh and J.E. I'm not angry, lol.
  2. I think this fish is actually a biggun and GF has photoshopped it., lol
  3. I bet all these tournament fishers kill more fish by culling and releasing their catch after the weigh in than the average people keep to eat in a year. Yet they are the ones preaching at the "meat hogs" to not keep a one.
  4. That's pretty sad. It seems like every access looks about like that also. I was at Marble Grounds last week and it was covered in broken glass and trash. What stretch of river was the logjam on?
  5. So, How did you guys do today? How many keepers did you get to fry?
  6. Crappiefisherman, I've fished the spot you're talking about, but it's been a few years. It's pretty well fished. There used to be a good school of bass in there but they would have nothing to do with a lure. Also the slough that runs back against the bluff has filled in incredibly the last couple years. There is crappie by the jeep dealer but not hardly enough to go after. You need something to paddle around in also. But they get fished out every year pretty quickly.
  7. Here south of Springfield we've been finding them quite a bit before the cold, maybe 300 or so. You sure become Mr Popular when mushroom season starts, lol.
  8. Those sliders and pink heads were taught to me about 4 years ago by you "coach". And I owe you many crappie thank you's, lol. The last time I seen you up there you were with someone else that wanted to go, it was about dark and the fish were biting good. I could tell you didn't want to go yet, lol. If anyone ever wants someone to carpool with let me know. Just like you guys, I love that place, but the drive sucks. I'm down south of Nixa in Highlandville. 103 miles one way.
  9. Was you fishing out of a boat or just off the bank by the dam?
  10. Me and my wife went last night(Saturday) at Taylor Shoals. I caught 3 before dark and then together we caught 12 more by 8:30, then they just shut down and wouldn't bite. They're in there some but not like I've seen before. We caught only males.
  11. Me and my wife went last night(Friday). We got there kinda late, 7:30 and immediately started catching fish 5 or 6 within minutes, then the horn blew and the water rose a little and switched directions a couple times and that was it, no more fish. We ended up with 7 crappie and 2 whites. I was a little disappointed with that. We left a little after 9.
  12. You can get shad right below 65 highway in Springfield Lake. You'll need a boat to get out in the water though. I've gotten bucket fulls of shad out of there before for trapping bait. Hope this helps.
  13. I wish it wasn't such a long drive from Highlandville, lol. It takes me about 1hr 45mins to get there. I don't mind the drive, but it sucks by myself and my wife gets tired of me bugging her all the time to go.
  14. I found 22 yesterday and went back today to the same spot and found around 40-50 morels. I guess I'll need to go check my other spots now. The best places I've found is the best is OLD dozer piles with sycamores growing(sign of dampness) Dozer piles have all the hillsides top dirt pushed into one spot in the ravine usually and that's pretty much all my hot spots. As far as time to go and find them, this is perfect weather right now, with rain showers and sun popping out and hitting 80 degrees. Now I just need to go catch some white bass tonight and have a gormet dinner.
  15. Ok,I remember now. Thanks
  16. Hey Lilley, thanks for the report. Where is Roark at from your place? Upstream or Downstream? I'm not planning on fishing there but was just wondering. Thanks
  17. Me and my son went tonight, plus I went last night to the Blunk Hole area. Has anyone been doing any good since the high water? I got 4 yesterday and 3 today. All Males! But I heard from a catfisherman down there that there were sows up at the Y Bridge already. Any truth to that?
  18. Thanks for the report Lilley, But there are fish in Swan now. I went last night, 3/23, and seen where someone had cleaned some white bass and 1 crappie above 160 bridge. They could have been caught somewhere else I thought, but I stuck around for a little while and caught 1 short walleye and 6 white bass. I wish more people would report on here like your freind though to help everyone out instead of just reading reports and not reporting themselves.
  19. I'm gonna have to get a new one Quick. I've had a battery charger I got from WalMart for about 3 years and it quit working. What's a good brand to buy? And where do I get it? I want a Good one. For charging Boat batteries and Car batteries. Any replies greatly appreciated.
  20. I went down to powersite and river run last night(Sunday). I had one bite at River Run before dark. Then went up by the dam and seen a lot of people fishing so i thought I was in luck maybe. I fished about 1 1/2 hours without a bite. Couldn't even get a trout to save me!
  21. thanks, lol. When I'm fishing this summer I'll scout it out a little.
  22. do tell, do tell Flysmallie
  23. I'm not much of a trout fisherman, and don't keep them unless I can get them smoked, but why would they have a limit of 1 fish? One isn't enough for a meal, I would bet that almost everyone caught is wasted with a limit like that. IMO Hopefully next year I can get down the stretch of the James where Crane Creek comes out and I can catch them next trapping season.
  24. Terry, it sounds like you live exactly where I do,lol.
  25. I was just wondering how far it is for everyone to get to say, River Run Ramp. It takes me about 35-40 minutes to get there. I just wondered if I'm the only sucker who has to go that far. It sure gets old driving that far all the time.
