  1. Found a really good combo last year, Cherokee jig heads 1/16 bass pro squirming squirt tube clear with silver flake. Jig head is weedless and works great.
  2. No, first 3 channel banks after the trees.
  3. Got to Big M at 3:00 yesterday with the wife she read and I fished for a short time. Caught 7 total, 3keepers with one over 4 lbs. all caught in back of Roaring River on crank. Shallow!!!!
  4. I have fished the upper White, from Big M up, saw a couple beds before the rain, went yesterday saw none, no beds at all, but spawning going on around Kimberling. Am I missing something? Oh, only 8 keeper slabs yesterday, several shorts. Crappie have changed up there, not on the bank, not in the trees like they were, cant find hem right now. May have to go back to Kings.
  5. Terrible!!!!
  6. Fished the White again, same as last weekend still staging, water was 3 degrees cooler. Still catching big ones, had 20 keepers today.
  7. Oct. 22, 2010, my father in law caught this big un at the mouth of Sweetwater. Measured over 15", picture probably does not do it justice, but this is also my screensaver on my phone for him. He is also the one that introduced me to lake fishing and I appreciate that more than he knows.
  8. One more thing I forgot to post, did see some beds yesterday, about 5 total. Did not see any roaming, but the beds were there.
  9. Water was in low 60's today, fished with a buddy of mine in the White River, left Kings for awhile it has not been that good to me lately. Finished the day with 29 keepers, had #30 on a few times, but seemed to always get away. Most of the fish we caught were in staging areas today they were high in the water column over deeper water. Caught some really biguns today, just unreal. Good luck when you get to go.
  10. I agree that it could happen, but we still have cooler nights that keep things in check somewhat, but ultimately there has to be a certain amount of daylight that impacts the water for incubation purposes, so longer days help attribute to the spawn as does the moon. That is just my take on it. Could be way off.
  11. Well out again caught one short on A rig up from mouth of Kings just inside the point, pretty shallow. Moved up Kings looking for crappie, none on first two stops, only ended up with 4 keepers and not many shorts, can't get them figured out yet, shouldn't be this hard. After wind picked up started throwing wart and jig, caught some shorts on both, my 13 year old son ended up catching a keeper on the jig while I stopped to crappie fish a lay down. Water temp and color was very good up Kings, only thing I can figure is too much high pressure again, but it did not affect Bill so guess my thinking was off yesterday. You guys have any advice I am open to it right now, have not been this frustrated in quite some time.
  12. Thanks for chiming in Bill, makes me feel better. Will get after them again this week on Thur. or Fri. Good crappie fishing I heard is out there, need to go up the river, much higher than what I have been going.
  13. Fished Kings yesterday looking for more fish on A rig, and also doing some crappie fishing. Caught 6 bass with one keeper, not one fish on A rig. 5 keeper crappie with probably 10 shorts. Very frustrating day. Talked with Darrell Robertson as well, and he too said it was a tough day. I can't figure these A rig fish out either. Fished couple of the roll offs, but nobody home. All bass caught on wart and jerker.
  14. Fished out of Shell Knob, started at 11:30 ended at 5. Caught no keeper bass, none on A rig, 10 between wart and mcstick. Also had 6 keeper crappie all of of wood in at least 20 feet of water, suspended about 8 feet.
  15. Took first shot at A rig, today was tough, fished above Eagle Rock only boated 3 a 7lber, 3lber and a short. All came off main lake 45 degree banks that you would wart. Got a real work out throwing that thing.
  16. Double fluke is two flukes tied to 3way swivel with 2lines coming off and a fluke attached to each line. Multiple bait in my opinion.
  17. What about the double rigged fluke?
  18. What part of net month? Fished a BFL several years ago in early March, finished 5th with a jerk bait. Guy that won it threw a wart. Really depends on weather. Better have a grub handy. Now just so you know, I feel as if I am an average fisherman, but have fished the Rock a lot. Good luck to you.
  19. Fished Kings, had a tough go of it, ended the day with 10 keepers, caught probably6 shorts. Majority of my fish came off of 2 trees, and they are much deeper than they were a couple weeks ago. Water ranged from 48 around Sweetwater to 46 around Jakie. Gotta go. Oh, by the way, I see no point looking for them on flat banks, stay on the bluffs.
  20. Fished Kings again today and all I can say is wow, it was bad today, only had 4 keepers and worked very hard for those. Wind did not help, but the bite just didn't happen for me today. Fished same pattern as a couple days ago. The further up Kings you go the colder the water temp. In case anyone wants to know. Well that is probably it for a while, if I go will let you know , good or bad. For what it's worth threw a wart about 5 casts and had a 3+ on it. Should have done more of that I guess. Have a safe and happy New Year.
  21. Fished for about 4 hours today really tough, had 13 keepers probably had at least that many shorts. Wind did not help out today. Fished Kings caught them on same pattern as a couple weeks ago, but had to search harder today, still catching them on horizontal cover, and not all that deep, tried the dock bite but it did not pan out. Going to lose some jigs fishing this way, but that is part of crappie fishing. Good luck will post again in a couple of days.
  22. Thanks Bill, hope to add a few more as we get into the new year, sold the boat two years ago so wife could go to nursing school, she graduates on the 16th of this month, so maybe new boat coming my way in the near future. Borrowing the father in law's has been great, but hate to do it very often. Any way, thanks for all you do and have a great upcoming holiday.
  23. Sorry Bill, had two docks a couple weeks ago I could catch a few off of but most everything is coming off of wood, nothing vertical though. Hope that makes sense.
  24. I'll just piggy back here Bill. Fished Kings on Sat., had 25 keeper crappie and probably threw back that many shorts, had some quality keepers.
  25. Went Sunday pm, 5 keepers 3 or 4 shorts. Not like last year, need more cooler weather.
