  1. Yes, I would say it was Gar cutting your line. Walleyes teeth just don't line up right to cut line. Congrats on that first eye !
  2. Not to nit-pic mrgungho, but the lakes weren't here in the late 40's.....But, they are lakes here now and more walleyes then ever before, so.......go catch that record !!
  3. I had a similar problem. I checked the batteries when I got home with a meter. It said both were OK. After checking everything else, I took the batteries back to where I got them. They checked the batteries "under load". Both brand new batteries had one bad cell each. Fortunately, they loaded me up with two brand new batteries and they checked them "under load" before I left. They were good and I've had no problems since. I'm not sure how the average guy can check your batteries under load, but it sure revealed the problem.

I have a set of 4 old photo's from different angles of the old and new bridges. One of the photo's shows the rising water right to the bottom of the old bridge and another photo shows just the top of the old bridge sticking out of the water. I'll get them out of the frames and scan them and try and get them posted. Great stuff guys !
  8. LOL ! Thanks Champ for the first good, belly laugh of the day. I know what you mean !
  9. Glad you had one of those great days Quillback !!
  10. I got to looking at my previous post and I guess I was mainly talking about substantial ice. The kind you can walk on. It has been a long time since I've seen that, but there have been times since were I've run into a skim of ice. We put in at Viola and went upstream (on the Kings), and only made it around the first big curve and ran into ice clear across the lake. We broke through slowly for a little while. The ice was about 1/4 " thick. Then it was 3/8" thick. When it got to about 1/2" it was getting scary so we backed out and went downstream to fish. I'm still talking about the wrong lake. Sorry for that, but I would think Beaver would be similar.
  11. It's been several years since I've seen ice on Tablerock. It would seem that Beaver would be similar. Many, many years ago, the back end of some of the bigger creek arms froze over (Cow Creek). Thick enough to run a dune buggy on. (lol , yeah, it was crazy). I'm thinking that was in the mid seventies or so.
  12. Mr. Burgundy, That does seem weird. Probably the best walleye lake in Missouri AND Arkansas and no info on walleyes. Hmmmm.
  13. Wow....Great catch SamKam.....!! Will watch for the video.
  14. Very cool Jeb !! Were many of the walleyes keepers ?
  15. Here (finally saw this).

I'll testify to this......Sam's home poured 1/8 oz. jig head (with the bigger than usual hook) is the best tip he ever gave me. Well, except for taking me out and showing me, first hand, his slow jig trolling method. Absolutely deadly ! It's not the year round answer, but at the right time, it's the real deal. Thanks again Sam !!
  17. We're up 2'-8 1/2" in 18 hours. 11 feet could happen.
  18. Gitnby....Great story.....Great report......That's why we all keep comin' back. Thumbs up !
  19. Bill....Congrats on a fine finish out of a pretty darn big field !!! Nicely done !
  20. There is a little info on this on another forum. Click the link. It's about half way down, past the Minn Kota stuff. Boy, the Hummingbird down looking thing looks great ! http://www.lakestockton.com/read.php?34,51181
  21. Man....What a beautiful fish !!
  22. Sam, there is a fairly new ramp near Cow Creek but I guess I haven't heard of a new one in Little Cow Creek. The new Cow Creek ramp is right around the point to the east of the old Cow Creek camping area / ramp. Maybe Bill B. will answer you on directions to the ramp in Little Cow. It sounds like I need to get off work for a few hours and go fishing. White bass on spoons is great fun !!
  23. Or you can leave all the hooks on the Hellbender and use a fairly large ball bearing snap swivel. Put the snap around the shank of the front treble on the HB. You have to use a little care when letting that rig out to make sure the trailer line doesn't foul in the rear hook, but you can't cast it anyway, so just use some care and it works great. If you're going to have a large crankbait down there, you might as well have hooks on it !

    Wonder Why?

Ditto for me. I was out yesterday morning (Sat 8-22) and was looking for walleyes between Point 7 and Point 5. Found no walleyes (which is not that unusual lol), but I also caught NO White Bass, which IS unusual. No bluegill, a few dink smallmouths and 2 keeper Kentucky's. That took half a day. Man, it was slow. Nice day to be outdoors though.
  25. Four keepers out of 5 eyes is an excellent ratio ! Are they biting that spoon or something else? (if you don't mind me asking) lol
