Stockton Lake Fishing Report October Fourth 2011
Martin replied to Stockton Lake Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
LOL.......!! -
Thanks for your report nxs... TR

You absolutely CANNOT get a detailed report like that, for a specific lake (let alone specific areas of that lake), anywhere in the country. If you can, let me know. I won't go there anyway... Sure had alot of boats in Moo Slough this weekend. They'd run in, and then run out. Hard to catch a fish when on plane. Thanks Bill and Denjac for the report. I got lazy and just went junk trolling yesterday afternoon (Hellbender with Roostertail) and brought home a good white bass dinner. A couple of 16's and a couple of 17's.... They do pull yer string ! Took about 80 minutes.

Thanks for the head's up Ham ..

I believe it's out of Ahoy's behind the Kimberling Inn.

James32962..That's some pretty good info there.. Thanks for sharing back.
-
I'll bet John L. Morris would take note if the complaint ever reached him....Problem is, he won't ever see it cause somebody will make sure not to bother the "head guy" for a small complaint. Of course, it isn't a small complaint to you and I, but it's nothing the top dog will ever see. I would have been really tempted to at least leave a note on the truck. (Probably find it in the water later).. We've all got stories...Sorry it's still happening.

For those of you that don't know of "walleyerich", he is extremely good at catching eyes in many of our lakes. So now we've probably got james32962 thoroughly confused....lol.....All those things really do work. You just have to get out there and try. Wow, and thanks for the compliments. It's the way this forum operates. Probably unique, but it's the only way in my book.

Powerdive, I have one with me everytime you and I go, and nothing bad has happened...lol

Fishing Trip This Weekend On Coney Island Need Help
Martin replied to Jross's topic in Table Rock Lake
Ahh yes Champ... I forgot about the tournament...WELL, 'coney Island" IS south and east of Kimberling, so...the flat side between point 6 & point 7 is correct. FIRST thing I would do Jross is get a lake map...lol... You're asking for info about an area nobody recognizes. Get a map and talk point numbers. I have no idea how far you want to run, but you're in the "lower lake", not too far from the dam in one direction, and not too far from Kimberling in the other direction. Get a lake map and memorize it. -
Fishing Trip This Weekend On Coney Island Need Help
Martin replied to Jross's topic in Table Rock Lake
Since nobody has replied, I will say....I have no current fishing report or info on any of the lake, but I'll bet there are people that don't recognize "Coney Island"... For those people that may have a report, Coney Island is between points 6 & 7 over on the flat side...Jross, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sure someone will report in here soon, but I'm not your guy at the moment...I just, plain, haven't been out. -
Adhesive encapsulation ... Hurts like an injury, but nothing actually torn or broken. Of course that's just my guess and I am a long way from being a docter. lol...PT will cure it, but it takes awhile. In my case, the more pain that was involved with each PT appointment, the quicker it got better. Hope you get back to normal quickly rps !

And...Don't forget Rangerman's tips. He and his pops are really good at catching walleyes everywhere they go.

I forgot to add, the "flats" from about Point 5 all the way to Point 7 can be good walleye fishing. Good is a relative word here. Tablerock isn't Bull Shoals or Stockton. As my former friend Powerdive says, "It's population dynamics".....There just plain isn't as many walleyes as we'd like to see. Tablerock is a famous bass lake, and rightly so. But if you can get to where you can catch a walleye or 4, on purpose, you can put a feather in your cap... lol.... On those flats: As you learn them by putting around and looking, or actually trolling, look for anomolies like ditch's, high spots, low spots, change of bottom material, brushpiles, etc. Walleyes do A LOT of things similar to bass...They love cover. Ambush spots where they can grab a shad or bluegill, or crawdad....The list goes on. They do like a fast moving crankbait (sometimes)...lol If you are familar with leadcore trolling, DEFINATELY try that. The ugly bait Powerdive refered to was a Rip Shad made by the same company that makes the Reef Runners....There are 2 sizes of RipShads. I was pulling the bigger one (which isn't very big) on leadcore...Not sure what they call the color, but it was partially clear and it had some chartruese and some red on the throat...(It WAS ugly, but we weren't loading the boat, so I thru that thing out in desperation. lol... I guess Powerdive can still be my friend, but he has to buy the gasoline next time...lol

The guys have pretty much covered the basic methods. Since I usually fish more then one rod, I stay over on the gravel / rocky points that run way out. RPS has had great success with his tree trolling method, but I believe he uses one rod when doing that. But you can't argue with success, and believe me, this has been a VERY good year for rps... lol I know pretty much nothing about the James River / Cape Fair, but it sounds like you got some great info from Wesley. If you are taking a novice, I'd go trolling. Bottom Bouncing with live bait takes a little practice to master. Reef Runners are good, but I know some retired guys that swear by a Norman's DD 22. I think whatever you can get down to the 24 to 32 foot range with. The braid (superlines) like Power Pro are great for trolling due to their small diameter. In Sept of 2006, we had some unforgetable walleye fishing trolling big crankbaits. My old boat goes about 2.6 to 2.8 mph just idling, which many think is too fast, but I've caught a bunch of fish going that fast. My thinking is that as the water cools off, the slower we should go, but right now, anything goes. Leadcore line trolling is a good way to get a small crankbait down deep, but it takes some getting used to, not to mention the expense of buying a BIG reel and the leadcore line. Are you familar with leadcore trolling?

Hopefully this cooler weather will help. The surface temp and on down to 30 feet or so should cool and slow the decay of all the vegetation and help de-stress the fish... Hope the cool down helps before the turnover later in the year.

Try Jack or Carol at 417-779-5968 Point 6 area
-
The high water this spring should probably help with keeping some of those little eyes alive. (hopefully)
-
Don't forget about Leslie Wake....Twin Lakes Guide Service...The guy is a wizard especially with the walleyes.. If Leslie can't put you on fish, then there are no fish in the lake...LOL
-
I know the doofus... He's so bad he netted an almost 14 pound walleye by himself on July 8th, as well as the puny little 10 pounder he caught a week or two later....Gee, he netted that one also.. What a doofus !!!! ( lol )

One more small tip....If you want a good guide, like Bill Babler or Bill Beck, or Don House, or Chris Tetrick....Better book something soon. These guys will be booked WAY ahead... I LOVE Bull Shoals lake, but the accomadations, grocery stores, etc., can be a long ways away...BSL is more "remote", thus, less traffic, less fisherman, less current reports.. If you want to just talk to a great guide on Bull Shoals, contact Mike Worley. He's second only to me on BSL ! (Just kidding Mike)....You can e-mail him at ar.walleyes@yahoo.com Good luck and good fishing ! mF

I think our Fearless Leader will be back (maybe) from up nort by Labor Day. If it's bass fishing tips you want, Bill Babler knows more and tells more then most guides. You might consider booking a day or half day with Bill. That's a good way to learn a few years experience on Tablerock, in one day.... And yes, rps is right on....Great fishing the lower end of TR and near Big Cedar....The only places better are Aunts Creek and Holiday Island. (snicker, snicker).

Sure good to hear both of your reports !! M. Ford

What year is it Bill....
